I've found that ^t doesn't work as tab in DVX3 segmentation rules for Office 2007... files.

Is there any way to segment text on tabs?

I have a document with zillions of tabs, and it is driving me crazy. It's extremely fiddly work, working with all of these tabs, and I think that adding a tab character to the segmentation rules might help.

Selcuk Akyuz had proposed solution - simply paste tab from any text editor when setting up segmentation rules

tab character in segmentation rules Jan 18, 2017

You can use these rules:

Before split: ^?
After split: tab (copy/paste a tab character)

Before split: tab (copy/paste a tab character)
After split: ^?

Do you have DVX segment on tabs, or not?

On the one hand, in terms of the meaning of the text, not doing so would seem to make it more understandable. However, segmenting on tabs would seem to make it easier to work with, because you no longer have to worry about inserting them into your target segments, or missing one. Btw, I generally work with "Show all formatting marks" switched off, as I preferred to translate sentences rather than strings of code.

I use those rules Jan 19, 2017

Yes, I use those rules to segment on tabs. I hate seeing tab characters in TMX files, they can cause problems in CAT hopping. AFAIK, it all started with SDL Trados Tag Editor and then Studio 2009. They did not segment on tabs. And in my book, SDL is always wrong.

Much prefer not seeing any tabs as I translate. The preview shows me sufficient context.
