You should participate in these calls for tenders directly. Just go to the Website Electronic Tenders Daily and insert the CPV code for translation services (I don't know it by heart). There you will get the list of all open calls for tenders in which you can participate. I am quite sure that you can be sucessful with a call for tenders at a rate much higher than 0,05 EUR.

The prices vary a lot from one language to another, even though there are no such variations in the salaries of our in-house colleagues in the EU institutions. Prices below are in euros, and per page.

Assumeing we're talking about official EU texts here, does anyone know if there's a set figure that the EU is prepared to pay for each language pair? Or does each job just go to the lowest bidder?
Zuzana, I agree with Maria that you should participate in the tender on your own. There is nothing more annoying than when an agency uses your profile and background for tender application and then (if approved) sends all the work to the cheapest "worker" in their preselected pool.

Couldn't agree more! And that's why I introduced a "degree fee" of €200 already couple of years ago.

Yes, have you noticed that male dominated jobs usually pay more than those dominated by women with similar skills and education. I bet our binman gets paid a lot more than the classroom assistant at our local school, care assistant is another good example.

So much true! There was this agency from Portugal that asked me to participate with them in a EU tender two years ago. In Septemebre the same year, they sent a nice email full of joy and pride of the successful winners. Have I received a single line to translate from them? Nope. In 1,5 years - nothing. But! I did receive their emailS through other sites (married-maiden name playing a trick) asking if I would be interested in translating for a EU project - actually, for the same project for which I was tested by them, successfully approved and requested to compile a pack of documents to participate.
