In a previous post, I read that merging tags in SDL Trados 2011 is a problem and some have tried to suggest possible solutions for that. I do also face the same problem but I found none of the suggested solution to be working. This version of Trados, it sometimes allows me to merge segments and other times doesn't. I have speculated that it might have something to do with the nature of the original file or the setting when we create the project. Whatever maybe the issue with this, I choose to live with it and make whatever polishing to my translation after exporting it to the native file format.
My question now is about tag orders in a tag. It's obvious that the structural order of two languages (source and target) is never the same. Especially in my target language, Amharic, the English sentence structure is completely reversed from right to left or from end to beginning when translated into Amharic. At this time, Trados marks my translation with its danger sign (an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle) saying "Tag order in this segment has been changed". Then it blocks me while exporting the translation at some times and not other times.
