-> Ну, определенную эмоциональную окраску of all things все-таки несет. В разговорной речи это может быть раздражение. Здесь вряд ли - скорее либо отношение автора, либо эмоциональное заострение, чтобы читатель сильнее проникся (кажущимся?) парадоксом.
