French term or phrase: consolidant l'assemblage
Hello!
DOC: 1907 Museum catalog of ancient Egyptian mirrors. Catalog entry.
CONTEXT: 44020. Mirror. -- Bronze, wood, and silver. (Pl. V) Sur le chapiteau, deux clous d'un côté et un de l'autre, consolidant l'assemblage, sont modernes.
ATTEMPT: On the capital, two nails on one side and one on the other, strengthening/fortifying the assemblage, are modern.
ISSUE: Not sure how to convey consolidant as accurately as possible. Or should I go with the literal: consolidating?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
