2.1
El Instituto Geogebra de Andalucía estará integrado en la Sociedad Andaluza de Educación Matemática Thales (http://thales.cica.es).
La Sociedad Andaluza de Educación Matemática Thales (SAEM THALES) es una asociación creada en el año 1981 y entre sus fines, recogidos en los estatutos, cebe destacar:
Actualización y perfeccionamiento de los profesores que imparten matemáticas.
Impulso y desarrollo de las innovaciones relativas a la Didáctica de las Matemáticas y su implantación en las aulas.
Divulgación y popularización de las Matemáticas.
Fomento y apoyo a la introducción en el aula de materiales y recursos y de las Nuevas Tecnologías en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de las matemáticas.
La Sociedad THALES tiene una estructura provincial de funcionamiento, con Juntas Directivas en cada una de las ocho provincias andaluzas y una Junta Directiva Regional en la que están representadas las distintas Juntas Provinciales.
Los cargos son elegidos democráticamente por sus asociados en la Asamblea general de asociados que en la actualidad son alrededor de 1500.
La sede de la SAEM THALES se encuentra en la Facultad de Matemáticas de la Universidad de Sevilla, aunque también se dispone de una sede administrativa, denominada Centro de Documentación ubicado en la Universidad de Cádiz.
El Instituto Geogebra de Andalucía (IGA) será gestionado por la SAEM THALES a través de una comisión nombrada al efecto

Licenciado en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Granada (1986) es doctor en Matemáticas y Profesor Titular de esta disciplina en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad de Córdoba.
A lo largo de su vida profesional ha compaginado la actividad docente e investigadora con distintas responsabilidades de gestión. Así, en sucesivas etapas, ha sido Secretario de la E.U. de Formación del Profesorado de E.G.B. de la Universidad de Córdoba, adjunto al Vicerrectorado de Ordenación Académica, Secretario General de la Universidad, Vicerrector Coordinador del Equipo Rectoral y de las Relaciones con el Claustro, Vicerrector de Coordinación y Comunicación y Vicerrector de Comunicación y Coordinación Institucional, cargo este último que ostenta en la actualidad.
Su actividad científica se centra en el análisis cienciométrico, conceptual y metodológico de la investigación en educación matemática y en materias relacionadas con la didáctica de la matemática y el pensamiento numérico. Junto a ello, centra también buena parte de sus actividades en la proyección social, la divulgación y la promoción de las Matemáticas. Así ha sido Coordinador Local y Regional de varias Olimpiadas Matemáticas y también Presidente del Comité Local para las actividades del Año Mundial de las Matemáticas. Actualmente preside la Sociedad Andaluza de Educación Matematica “Thales”.

Actualmente trabaja como profesor de Didáctica de las Matemáticas en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad de Córdoba, donde imparte asignaturas de didáctica, incluyendo en todos los programas un apartado importante sobre el uso educativo de las TIC y, en particular sobre GeoGebra. También imparte la asignatura optativa “Uso educativo de las TIC en el área de Matemáticas”.
Ha ejercido como profesor de secundaria durante 25 años, impartiendo las asignaturas de Matemáticas e Informática. Durante este tiempo ha desempeñando diversas responsabilidades en los centros en los que ha trabajado y ha coordinando gran cantidad de proyectos, entre los que destaca, por su relación con el proyecto que se solicita, la coordinación de la experiencia TIC del IES Averroes durante cuatro años.
Ha colaborado con la Consejería de Educación de la Junta de Andalucía en el diseño de la experiencia TIC andaluza, participando directamente en comisiones y grupos de trabajo encargados de cuestiones como la elección de la plataforma educativa de los centros, la catalogación de recursos digitales, la creación de una red de acompañamiento de nuevos proyectos TIC, etc. También ha ejercido como asesor experto en materia de uso educativo de las TIC adscrito a la Consejería de Educación.
Ha publicado varios libros sobre Didáctica de las Matemáticas, uso educativo de las TIC y Matemática recreativa; numerosos artículos sobre educación matemática y uso educativo de los recursos TIC, y varios CD multimedia con materiales educativos para el área de Matemáticas y para el uso de las TIC en el aula.
Tiene gran experiencia en formación permanente del profesorado, tanto presencial como a distancia, en lo relacionado con la enseñanza y aprendizaje de las Matemáticas y con el aprovechamiento didáctico de los recursos TIC. También ha trabajado en la formación inicial de profesores y profesoras de secundaria. Actualmente coordina la especialidad de Matemáticas e Informática en el nuevo Máster de Profesorado de Educación Secundaria en la Universidad de Córdoba.
Ha participado en gran cantidad de congresos y encuentros del profesorado.
Ha participado y participa en diversos grupos de trabajo, grupos de innovación docente y proyectos de investigación, desempeñando la responsabilidad de director y coordinador en muchos de ellos.
Ha obtenido varios premios importantes en reconocimiento de su labor educativa.
Actualmente es vicepresidente regional de la Sociedad Andaluza de Educación Matemática THALES.

Licenciado en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Granada. Catedrático de Matemáticas de Educación Secundaria de Matemáticas, destinado en la actualidad en el IES Sierra Morena de Andújar (Jaén – España), con anterioridad, además de otros IES de la provincia de Jaén, ha sido director del Centro de Profesores de Andujar.
Ha impartido cursos de formación para el profesorado sobre distintos aspectos relacionados con la enseñanza de las matemáticas y sobre la utilización de las TIC como recurso didáctico, en Centros de Formación del Profesorado de toda España y en distintas Universidades.
Responsable en la SAEM THALES del programa de formación a distancia, en el que además ha sido tutor en cursos sobre software libre aplicado a las matemáticas, geometría dinámica o sobre cálculo simbólico, desde en curso 2001-02.
Coordinador de la sección TIC de la revista UNIÓN editada por la Federación Iberoamericana de Sociedades de Enseñanza de las Matemáticas.
Miembro del comité de redacción de la revista ÉPSILON editada por la SAEM THALES, siendo responsable de la sección TIC.
Participante como ponente en distintos Congresos regionales y nacionales sobre enseñanza y aprendizaje de las matemáticas.
He participado en Congresos organizados por las dos Sociedades de Profesores Argentinas, impartiendo conferencias y talleres.
También hA participado como conferenciante en el último CIBEM celebrado en Puerto Montt.
Ha coordinado un Proyecto de incorporación de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación al aula en el IES Jándula de Andujar desde su aprobación en el curso 2003-04 por la Consejería de Educación de la Junta de Andalucía hasta el curso 2007-08, siendo este centro uno de los pioneros en Andalucía en la incorporación de las TIC.

Profesora de Matemáticas en el IES Virgen de la Cabeza de Marmolejo- Jaén, siendo miembro del equipo de coordinación TIC del mismo.
Ha ejercido como profesora de secundaria y bachillerato durante 20 años, impartiendo las asignaturas de Matemáticas e Informática. Durante este tiempo ha desempeñando diversas responsabilidades en los centros en los que ha trabajado.
Ha participado en gran cantidad de congresos y encuentros del profesorado, siendo miembro del comité organizador de alguno de ellos.
Organizadora y colaboradora de concursos matemáticos desde el 2005. Ha participado y participa en diversos grupos de trabajo.

Las actividades que desarrollará el IGA serán las siguientes:
Divulgación de las posibilidades que Geogebra ofrece para fomentar su uso en el aula.
Creación de materiales con Geogebra para facilitar el trabajo del profesorado en los distintos niveles educativos.
Recopilación de materiales elaborados por el profesorado que puedan servir de ayuda para otros profesores que deseen incorporar Geogebra en su aula.
Evaluación de materiales que utilicen Geogebra como recurso didáctica.
Realización de actividades de formación sobre utilización y posibilidades de Geogebra en los distintos niveles educativos.
Establecimiento de mecanismos de contacto para todo el profesorado interesado en Geogebra.
Colaboración con los Institutos Geogebra de España, así como con los creados en otros países.
Todo el material estará disponible a través de la Web http://thales.cica.es/geogebra y la formación se realizará a través de la plataforma Moodle instalada en http://thales.cica.es/geogebra/formacion.
2.4.
La formación que el IAG ofrecerá será:
Iniciación a Geogebra como recurso didáctico para el aula de Matemáticas: actividad de formación online, con una duración de 40 horas, sobre las características de Geogebra y su utilización en el aula como recurso didáctico. El objetivo de esta actividad será sensibilizar sobre la potencia de este software en educación y sobre todo en Matemáticas. Para el profesorado que supere esta actividad se le expedirá la certificación de Geogebra Users.
Materiales para el aula con Geogebra: actividad online, con una duración de 100 horas en la que al profesorado participante se les pedirá la realización de materiales novedosos para su uso en el aula cuya base sea Geogebra. Además, será necesario experimentar los materiales en el aula para superar esta actividad de formación. Para el profesorado que supere esta actividad se le expedirá la certificación de Geogebra Experts.

The GeoGebra Institute of Andalusia is part of the Thales Mathematical Education Society of Andalusia (http://thales.cica.es).
The Thales Mathematical Education Society of Andalusia (Spanish acronym: SAEM THALES) is an association founded in 1981 and among its aims, as set out in its statutes, we can highlight the following:
Updating and improving the performance of mathematics teachers.
Fostering and developing innovations related to the teaching of mathematics and their implementation in the classroom.
Disseminating and popularising mathematics.
Promoting and supporting the introduction of resources and materials into the classroom and new technology in the teaching and study of mathematics.
The Thales Society operates with a provincial structure, with Boards of Management in each of the eight Andalusian provinces as well as a Regional Board of Management for the whole of Andalusia, on which each of the provincial Boards is represented.
The officials are democratically elected by the members of the association at an annual general meeting. Currently there are around 1,500 members.
The head office of SAEM THALES is located in the Mathematics Faculty of the University of Seville, although there is also an administrative office, known as the Documentation Centre, at the University of Cadiz.
The GeoGebra Institute of Andalusia (Spanish acronym: IGA) will be managed by SAEM THALES via a committee formed for that purpose.

Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez. [email protected]
Graduated in Mathematics from the University of Granada (1986). He holds a doctorate and full lectureship in Mathematics at the Educational Sciences Faculty, University of Córdoba.
Over the course of his career he has combined teaching and research with various management responsibilities. He has successively held the following posts: Secretary to Córdoba University Primary Teacher Training School, deputy to the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Planning, General Secretary of the University, Co-ordinating Vice-Chancellor for the Governing Board and Faculty Relations, Vice-Chancellor of Co-ordination and Communication and Vice-Chancellor of Institutional Co-ordination and Communication, this last being his present post.
His scientific activity centres on the scientometric, conceptual and methodological analysis of research into mathematical education and matters related to the teaching of mathematics and numerical thinking. In addition, an important part of his work focuses on the public advancement, dissemination and promotion of mathematics. To this end he has been the local and regional co-ordinator of various mathematical 'Olympiads', as well as president of the local committee for the World Year of Mathematics. He is currently president of the Thales Mathematical Education Society of Andalusia.

Currently works as lecturer in Mathematical Education in the Educational Sciences Faculty at the University of Córdoba, where he teaches various subjects related to education including, in all his programmes, a major section on the educational use of ICT and, in particular, GeoGebra. He also teaches as an optional subject “The educational use of ICT in the field of Mathematics”.
He worked as a secondary teacher for 25 years, teaching Maths and Information Technology. During this period he played a variety of roles at the institutions in which he worked and co-ordinated a multitude of projects; one that stands out in particular, due to its connection with the current application, was the co-ordination of the ICT programme at Averroes Secondary School over the course of four years.
He collaborated with the Education Department of the Andalusian Regional Government in the design of the Andalusian ICT programme, as a participating member of committees and working parties charged with tasks such as choosing the educational platform for schools, the cataloguing of digital resources, the creation of a support network for new ICT projects etc. He has also worked as an expert consultant to the Education Ministry on matters related to the educational application of ICT.
He has published various books on the teaching of mathematics, the educational application of ICT and recreational maths; numerous articles on mathematical education and the educational use of ICT resources, and various multimedia CDs with educational materials in the field of mathematics and for using ICT in the classroom.
He has wide experience in the permanent training of teaching staff, both face-to-face and distance-learning, in everything related to the teaching and learning of mathematics and the didactic exploitation of ICT resources. He has also worked in the initial training of secondary school teachers. He currently co-ordinates the Mathematics and Information Technology speciality in the new Teaching in Secondary Education Master's Degree at Córdoba University.
He has been actively involved in a large number of conferences and meetings within the teaching profession.
He has taken part and continues to participate in a variety of working parties, teaching innovation groups and research projects, acting as of chairman and co-ordinator in many of them.
He has received various major awards in recognition of his educational efforts.
At present he is the regional vice-president of the Thales Mathematical Education Society of Andalusia.

Graduated in Mathematics at the University of Granada. Professor of Mathematics in Secondary Education, he is currently working at the Sierra Morena de Andújar Secondary School (in Jaén, Spain) and previously, as well as other secondary schools in Jaén, he was the director of the Andújar Teachers' Centre.
He has run training courses to teachers on various topics related to the teaching of mathematics and the use of ICT as a teaching aid, in teacher training centres across Spain and in various universities.
In charge of the SAEM THALES distance-learning training programme, in which since the academic year 2001-02 he has also acted as tutor on courses on open source software applied to mathematics, dynamic geometry and symbolic calculus.
Co-ordinator of the ICT section of the journal UNION, published by the Iberamerican Federation of Societies for the Teaching of Mathematics.
Member of the editorial committee of the journal ÉPSILON, published by SAEM THALES, where he is in charge of the ICT section.
Speaking participant in various regional and national conferences on the teaching and learning of mathematics.
He has taken part in conferences organized by the two Argentine Teaching Associations, conducting both talks and workshops.
He has also delivered a paper at the most recent CIBEM (Iberamerican Conference on Mathematical Education) held in Puerto Montt.
He has co-ordinated a project to introduce information and communication technology into the classroom at Jándula de Andujar Secondary School, from the time it was approved by the Education Ministry of the Andalusian Regional Government in the academic year 2003-04 until the academic year 2007-08, this school being one of the pioneers in Andalusia in the implementation of ICT.

Evaluation of materials using GeoGebra as a teaching resource.
Setting up of training activities concerning the use and possibilities of GeoGebra at a range of academic levels.
Establishment of contact mechanisms for all members of the teaching profession interested in GeoGebra.
Collaboration with the other Spanish GeoGebra Institutes, as well as those of other countries.

The training offered by IGA will consist of:
Introduction to GeoGebra as a teaching resource for the Mathematics classroom: online training activity, lasting 40 hours, on the characteristics of GeoGebra and its use in the classroom as a teaching resource. The aim of this activity will be to make the trainee aware of the educational potential of this software, first and foremost in Mathematics. Teachers who pass this activity will be issued with certificates as GeoGebra Users.
Materials for the classroom with GeoGebra: online activity, 100 hours in duration, in which participating teachers will be asked to create new GeoGebra-based materials for use in the classroom. It will also be necessary to try the materials in the classroom to pass this training activity. Teachers who pass this activity will be awarded certificates as GeoGebra Experts.

I am a professional Spanish-into-English translator specialising in Business, Media, Arts and Tourism. I hold the Chartered Insititute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation (DipTrans), with merits in all three units. I passed at the first attempt, which I understand is relatively unusual.
After graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics I went on to become a Marketing Manager for a London chain of booksellers.
