Treatment of income from different sources
Each income has different source of earning and so the provisions for its taxability. Income-tax Act provides for five heads of incomes for computation of taxable income, viz., Salary, Income from House Property, Income from Business or Profession, Capital Gain and Residual Income. Provisions contained under each head of income for computation of taxable income have been discussed in this document.
Allowances Allowable to a taxpayer
Various types of allowances are allowable to a taxpayer under the Income-tax Act, which have different taxability. Some of them are fully exempt while some of them are partially exempt. The chart covers almost all the allowances along with their taxability under different heads of Incomes.
Penalties
Default in compliances with the provisions of the Income-tax Act or for violation of certain conditions would attract certain penalty. The document will provide you information about the punishable offences and the quantum of penalties that can be levied under the law.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research. Before you decide whether you would like to go ahead, it is important that you understand what the research study is about. Do you have any questions about me, my research, or the focus group session before we begin?
Now I will check that you consent to take part in the study and are aware of what this will involve. By saying ‘Yes, I agree’ after each point it will be understood that you are agreeing with that statement. If you do not say this after each point it will be assumed that you do not consent to that part of the study.
