Source text - Chinese 三国时名医华佗就使用大麻和鸦片作为麻醉剂；在唐乾封二年（公元667年），就有鸦片进口的记录，唐代阿拉伯鸦片被称为"阿芙蓉"；公元973年北宋印行的《开宝本草》中，鸦片定名为罂粟粟，明朝时列为藩属"贡品"，作为药物，在中医中使用。清初传至民间。至少在1729年雍正皇帝就下令禁止鸦片，此后清朝的多位皇帝一直在强调禁烟。
Translation - English As early as the period of Three Kingdoms, Hua Tuo, a famous doctor, started to use mariguana and opium as anesthetics. In 667 A.D., the second year of Qianfeng in Tang Dynasty , there was record of the import of opium. The opium frm Arabic countries were named as A Furong (Afyūm in Arabic). In the Kaibao Herbary printed and published in 973 A.D. in Northern Song Dynasty, opium was denominated as Poppy. In Ming Dynasty, it was listed as a tribute from the vassal states to Royal Family to serve as a drug in Chinese medicine. At the beginning of Qing Dynasty, it was spread to the folk. In 1729, the Emperor Yongzheng issued ban on using opium. Henceforth, several emperors in Qing Dynasty had been emphasizing banning opium.
According to statistic analysis, in 11,000 to 9,500 years before present, the proportion of millet starch grain with wild characteristics was in decline while that with domesticated characteristics continued to increase. This indicates that human’s domestication over millet has experience a long process, at least lasting for 2,000 years.
