Source text - Dutch Homeopathie is de geneeswijze waarbij we het zelf genezend vermogen van een zieke stimuleren met een geneesmiddel dat overeenkomstige ziektesymptomen in zich heeft als vergift. Het op de ziekte gelijkende geneesmiddel doet er een schepje bovenop, en als reactie daarop maakt het organisme zich beter. De zieke kijkt als het ware in de spiegel van het geneesmiddel, waardoor hij beter wordt. Die geneesmiddelen kunnen van humane, dierlijke, plantaardige of minerale oorsprong zijn. We spreken van het dierenrijk, het plantenrijk en het mineralenrijk.
De mineralen zijn naar hun opbouw en chemische eigenschappen geordend in een zo genaamd periodiek systeem der elementen (het PS). Een element is een mineraal dat uit 1 soort atomen is opgebouwd. Een atoom (letterlijk: ondeelbaar) is de basiseenheid van zo’n mineraal en bepaalt de eigenschappen ervan. Het is opgebouwd uit een klontering van kerndeeltjes met een positieve en met een neutrale lading. Om de kern zijn een of meer fictieve schillen, waarin volgens vaste banen de negatief geladen elektronen om de kern cirkelen. Een atoom kan een of meer schillen en banen hebben.
Binnen het PS bevat elke horizontale laag, een zogenaamde serie, atomen die eenzelfde hoeveelheid schillen hebben en daardoor eigenschappen met elkaar gemeen hebben. Van boven naar onder komen er meer schillen bij. Binnen een horizontale laag of serie raakt een schil steeds voller met een elektron tot de schil helemaal vol is. De eerste schillen kunnen weinig elektronen bevatten, de grotere schillen meer.
Nu zijn in het PS de series, schillen, zo onder elkaar geplaatst dat er ook verticaal kolommen ontstaan van elementen die ook eigenschappen met elkaar gemeen hebben, afhankelijk van hoe leeg (links) of hoe vol (rechts) de schil is.

Homeopathy is the system of medicine by which a substance that has the potential to produce the same symptoms of illness that a poison does, stimulates a patient's self-healing ability. The response to a substance resembling the illness is to trigger the organism to make itself better, as though by looking into the mirror of the substance, the patient gets better. These substances may be of human, animal, vegetable or mineral origin. The latter three are referred to as the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms.
The elements in the periodic system of elements (PS) are arranged according to their structure and chemical properties. An element is a mineral containing one type of atom. An atom (which literally means ‘indivisible’) is the basic unit of a mineral and determines its properties. It comprises a clumping of core particles with a positive charge and a neutral charge. Negatively charged electrons orbit the nucleus in one or more fictitious shells around it. An atom can have one or more shells and orbits.
Within the PS, each horizontal layer (or 'series') has atoms that have the same number of shells and thus have properties in common with each other. The number of shells increases from the top to the bottom layers. Within a horizontal layer or series, each element along the layer has one more electron than the element before it, until the shell is full. The first few shells may contain only a few electrons while the larger shells have many more.
The series in the PS, or shells, are layered under each other, forming vertical columns of elements that likewise have properties in common with each other, depending on how empty (how far to the left) or how full (how far to the right) the shells in that column are.
