Source text - English Pumpkin seed bread
1 loaf
120g pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
225g plain flour
15g yeast
250ml warm water
4 tbsp pumpkin seed oil
½ tsp salt Pepper
½ tsp ground coriander
Roughly chop the pumpkin seeds, tip into a dry frying pan and toast for a few minutes, tossing occasionally (this helps to develop the flavour). Add the sesame seeds and toast together until the sesame seeds start to change colour, then tip out on to a plate to cool.
Tip the flour into a large bowl and dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl of flour, mix well and leave for about 10 minutes.
Add the toasted seeds, 3 tbsp of the oil, ½ tsp of salt, a few grindings of pepper and the ground coriander and knead everything well into the dough.
Brush a 21 x 11cm loaf tin evenly with the remaining tablespoon of oil, dust with flour and shake out any excess.
Drop the dough into the tin, pressing into the corners, and place it on shelf level 2 on the ‘Dough Proving’ function at 40°C for 30 minutes.
Once the dough has proved continue to bake on shelf level 2 on the ‘Quarter Steam + Heat’ function at 220°C for 30 minutes.

4 łyżki oleju z pestek dyni
½ łyżeczki soli i pieprzu
½ łyżeczki mielonej kolendry
Delikatnie posiekaj pestki dyni, praż je przez kilka minut na suchej patelni, potrząsając nią co jakiś czas (by wydobyć aromat). Dodaj sezam i praż razem, aż sezam zmieni kolor, potem wysyp na talerz do ostygnięcia.
Wsyp mąkę do dużej miski. Rozprowadź drożdże w ciepłej wodzie, dodaj do miski z mąką, dobrze wymieszaj i odstaw na ok. 10 minut.
Dodaj uprażone nasiona, 3 łyżki oleju, ½ łyżeczki soli, trochę pieprzu i mieloną kolendrę. Zagnieć wszystko na ciasto.
Posmaruj keksówkę o wymiarach 21x11 cm pozostałą łyżką oleju, oprósz mąką, wysypując jej nadmiar.
Przełóż ciasto do formy, dociskając je w rogach i piecz na 2 poziomie przy użyciu opcji „Dough Proving” w 40°C przez 30 minut.
Kiedy chleb wyrośnie, piecz go dalej na 2 poziomie przy użyciu funkcji „Quarter Steam + Heat” w 220°C przez 30 minut.

Source text - French Chassés du Vatican: Les Captifs L'Esclave mourant et L'Esclave rebelle, par Michel-Ange (1513-1515)
C'est à l'avarice des successeurs du pape Jules II que l'on doit la présence au Louvre de deux des plus belles sculptures de Michel-Ange. L'Esclave mourant et L'Esclave rebelle faisaient partie du premier projet de tombeau de Jules II, en 1505. Une quarantaine de figures étaient prévues sur trois étages. L'ensemble devait être placé au centre de la future basilique Saint-Pierre de Rome, dont la construction allait débuter. MichelAnge commence à les sculpter en 1513.
Jules II meurt cette année-là et le projet est aussitôt revu à la baisse par son successeur, Léon X : toujours trois étages, mais seulement 12 statues. Trois ans plus tard, nouvelle réduction de budget : l'étage supérieur saute. En 1523, sous Adrien VI, tout est encore réduit, le nombre de statues passe à six. En 1532, le pape s'appelle Clément VII et le projet est déplacé vers une autre basilique romaine, plus petite, Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens. En 1536, sous Paul III, les deux esclaves sont exclus du projet.
Et, en 1542, c'est Michel-Ange qui se retrouve viré, il ne doit plus fournir qu'une seule statue, celle de Moïse. Résultat : il offre L'Esclave mourant et L'Esclave rebelle à son ami Roberto Strozzi, qui s'exile peu après en France. Les deux sculptures passent ensuite entre les mains du connétable de Montmorency puis du cardinal de Richelieu avant de devenir propriété de l'Etat au moment de la Révolution et de faire leur entrée au Louvre, en 1794. Moralité : ne jamais réduire le budget de la culture !

To chciwości następców papieża Juliusza II zawdzięczamy obecność w Luwrze dwóch z najpiękniejszych rzeźb dłuta Michała Anioła. Umierający jeniec oraz Zbuntowany jeniec stanowiły w 1505 r. część pierwotnego projektu nagrobka Juliusza II. Przewidywał on około czterdzieści rzeźb umieszczonych na trzech poziomach. Całość miała znajdować się w sercu przyszłej Bazyliki św. Piotra w Rzymie, której budowę wkrótce rozpoczęto. Michał Anioł rozpoczyna prace w 1513 r.
Juliusz II umiera w tym samym roku, a projekt nagrobka zostaje natychmiast uproszczony przez jego następcę, Leona X – pozostają trzy poziomy, ale jedynie dwanaście statui. Po trzech latach dochodzi do kolejnej redukcji budżetu – znika najwyższy poziom. W 1523 r., za Hadriana VI, projekt zostaje jeszcze bardziej okrojony, a liczbę rzeźb ogranicza się do sześciu. W 1532 r. papież Klemens VII przenosi lokalizację nagrobka do mniejszej świątyni romańskiej, Bazyliki św. Piotra w Okowach. W 1536 r., za Pawła III, dwaj jeńcy zostają całkowicie wykluczeni z projektu.
Natomiast w 1542 r. sam Michał Anioł zostaje odprawiony z kwitkiem, ostatecznie ma dostarczyć tylko jeden posąg, Mojżesza. W rezultacie ofiarowuje Umierającego jeńca i Zbuntowanego jeńca swojemu przyjacielowi, Roberto Strozziemu, który niedługo potem wyjeżdża do Francji. Następnie obie rzeźby przechodzą w ręce konetabla Montmorency, później kardynała Richelieu, a w czasie rewolucji francuskiej stają się własnością państwa i w 1794 r. trafiają do Luwru. Morał: nie można oszczędzać na finansowaniu kultury!

I've chosen to study Philology, because since childhood I was deeply interested in linguistic matter: in its vastness, vividness and in challenges that it poses. When I was a kid I started learning English and already at the beginnning of highschool I obtained Certificate in Advanced English (having attended classes given by Englishmen, Canadian and American). Later on I decided to focus on French, so I chose Romance Philology (translation specialisation) at Jagiellonian University. Not only I mastered French, but also improved my mother tongue, Polish. I was also very lucky to get the opportunity to live in France: I was an exchange student at Université Bordeaux Montaigne for a couple of months. In addition, during studies I did an internship at a translation agency. Moreover, I obtained a Masters Degree at Center for Comparative Studies of Civilisations at Jagiellonian University, which enabled me to familiarise with vocabulary concerning Social Studies such as Religion, Anthropology or Sociology.
I love travelling to other countries, especially Asian ones, and getting to know them via cuisine, which, in fact, is my second passion. Hunger of the world and deep intellectual curiosity make me combine linguistic skillls with general knowledge. And that combination, in my opinion, should characterise an excellend translator.
