Graduate of Applied Linguistics (interpreting specialization) from Warsaw University (2007) and holder of MSc in International Politics and Human Rights from University of Glasgow (2008).

Member of Audit Committee of the Association of Polish Translators and Interpreters (STP) .

Former trainer of consecutive interpreting at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Warsaw University.

Four years’ experience as a conference and public services interpreter in Poland and Scotland respectively.

Six years’ experience both as an in-house and freelance proofreader/translator working for clients and agencies in Poland, the UK and Belgium.

Some examples of work undertaken over the years:

Interpretation


  • International conferences, press conferences, business talks and meetings, market research interviews and focus groups as well as workshops. Subject areas included among others: patient rights, disabled people's access to the labour market, energy security in Europe, personal data protection, design, nutrition and baby food.
  • Public services: some 800 hours of liaison, whispered and consecutive public services interpreting for the medical, legal, financial, social work and education sectors in Scotland. Examples: interpreting during police interviews, court appearances (criminal, civil, extradition hearings), medical appointments, labour, medical home visits, parents' meetings and appointments at the Citizens' Advice Bureau.
  • 20 hours of sight and consecutive interpreting during the CITB ConstructionSkills Health & Safety Test.
  • Pro bono work: Consecutive interpretation during the 2007 Amnesty International Annual General Meeting and the subsequent meeting of the Deputy Secretary General Kate Gilmore with representatives of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.

  • Materials on physical and mental health and wellbeing, patient information and questionnaires, eg. ostomy, plagiocephaly, stress.
  • Internal documents relating to employee welfare, terms and conditions of employment, share option plans, etc.
  • EU press releases and information materials relating mostly to social policy and social inclusion; translation of website materials for DG Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion and DG Enterprise and Industry.
  • Materials on the energy sector in the EU.
  • Education, HMIE school reports, parental guides and questionnaires.
  • Tenants and landlords' rights, the government LIFT initiative and fire safety at home.
  • Information materials for victims and witnesses of crime (Scottish justice system) and police requests for information.
  • Scottish census questionnaires.
  • Pro bono work: Translation of Urgent Actions and newsletters from English into Polish for Amnesty International Poland.
I interpret between English and Polish. I translate mostly from English into Polish, occasionally from French into Polish and from Polish into English.
