Source text - English Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki publicly declared that neighboring countries have not done enough to protect his war-torn nation from terrorists. He asked for more help from Middle Eastern nations in fighting militia groups and “assistance in solving the issue of Iraqi debts.”
While Iraq’s neighbors have made pledges of help in the past, they have demonstrated little follow-through. They have also promised to open diplomatic missions in Baghdad, but none has yet done so.
Iraq harbors at least $67 billion in foreign debt, most of it owed to felloe Arab countries Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar.

Source text - English The prime minister of Pakistan, Yousaf Raza Gillani, recently made the surprising announcement that his government would seek peace with the Taliban. This confirmed the speculations of United States officials that the newly-elected Pakistan government would reduce its military operations and possibly strain U.S.-Pakistan relations.
The prime minister stated that fighting terrorism would be “his top priority” and that he would hold talks with militants who laid down their weapons.
However, U.S. officials fear that militants have found a safe haven along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, and that their presence creates a “clear and present danger” to both countries.
