Yes, this article is worth reading, Oct 13, 2013

not necessarily from the linguistic point of view, but more from the sociolinguistic -- examining various subcultures. It gives a lot of information about those, in ireland, and England, but also about various prejudices related to the subcultures.

By the way, we do not have any people of Gypsy origin living by the turnpikes, in the United States -- not that I know of, at least.
