Zastosowanie nanocząstek srebra w materiałach ortopedycznych
1. Wstęp

Srebro jako środek bakteriobójczy stosowany jest w medycynie od wieków. Związki srebra w postaci maści stosowane były głównie do leczenia oparzeń i ran przewlekłych. W 1881 Carl Crede zastosował azotan srebra do leczenia rzerzączkowego zapalenia spojówek u noworodków, a później jego syn opracował opatrunek z azotanem srebra stonowany przy przeszczepach skóry (Klassen 2000, Landsdown 2002). Od czasu wprowadzenia antybiotyków w 1940 roku do leczenia infekcji zmarginalizowano zastosowanie związków srebra w medycynie (Chopra 2007). W latach 60-tych ubiegłego wieku nastąpił powrót do stosowania związków srebra w leczeniu oparzeń (Moyer 1965). Jony srebra poza aktywnością bakteriobójczą wykazują także działanie przeciwwirusowe i grzybobójcze (Rai 2009)
Przełomem w zastosowaniu srebra w medycynie było opracowanie technik produkcji nanocząstek, dzięki którym uzyskać można drobne cząstki srebra o rozmiarze 1-100 nm, charakteryzujące się dużym stosunkiem powierzchni do objętości i stabilnością w środowisku biologicznym.

Application of silver nanoparticles in orthopedic materials

1. Introduction

Silver has been used as a bactericidal agent in medicine for centuries. Silver compounds, in the form of ointments, were used mainly to treat burns and protracted wounds. In 1881, Carl Crede applied silver nitrate in the treatment of gonorrheal conjunctive infection in newborns, and later, his son elaborated on this, making a dressing with silver nitrate used for skin transplants. The usage of silver in medicine has been marginalized due to the introduction of antibiotics for treating infections in 1940 (Chopra 2007). Silver compounds made a comeback in burn treatment in the 1960’s (Moyer 1965). Silver ions, apart from bactericidal activity also show antiviral and antifungal activity.
A breakthrough in the application of silver in medicine was the development of nanoparticle production technology, thanks to which it is possible to attain particles of silver of a size of 1-100 nm. These particles are characterized by a large proportion of surface to volume, and stability in a biological environment.

Thanks to its properties and capabilities concerning the dimensions of drilled openings, this drill is perfect for use on any construction site and industrial installations where electric appliances are prohibited for safety reasons, and the dimensions and character of the elements involved make it impossible for them to be transported to another location.
Using the drill on an AX-A magnetic base and special trepanning bits gives the ability to make openings with diameters up to 35 mm and a depth of 25 mm with a precision before attainable only in a workshop.
