I was born in Angola, but I studied in Portugal, in "Instituto Superior Técnico" in Lisbon, where I finished my Chemical Engineering Course and received my Chemical Engineer Degree.

After my Graduation I worked in "Instituto do Café de Angola (ICA)", on the chemistry of coffee. While I worked there, I kept some connection with some experts belonging to the staff of others European Scientific Institutes and also with people of some European coffee exporters, whitch had agreements of cooperation with the (ICA). During this period I sustained an intensive mail exchange with experts of both kinds of entities cooperating with (ICA). So, I had the opportunity to improve my knowledge in foreign languages, mainly English, but also German and French. This task stimulated me to go further with other foreign languages learning. Accordingly, I decided to learn Italian. Later on, I decided to become a professional translator, as free-lancer.

I work mainly with the above mentioned languages, namely German, English and French, and less frequently also with Spanish.

As a professional, my work was common texts translation, for example, books. Later on, my work was mainly based on industrial property translation, namely patents translation.


Preferred translation themes

Translation of general scope texts, both technical and non technical texts. Technical texts concerning Chemistry (industrial chemistry, agricultural chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, etc.); other engineering fields, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive industry, etc.; other related scientifical and technical fields.

Past Projects
Some time ago, in the year 1995, in cooperation with the Piaget Institute in Portugal, I translated the interesting book «The Enigma of Man's Evolution, written by Josef Reichholf».

Requested by a publishing company, I also translated school books related to technical themes, for sending to Angola .
However, the most important part of my work as translator was the translation of patents, up till now.
