Tomatoes in the office - hydroponic garden Oct 14, 2008

Tomás Cano Binder wrote:

About a year ago we were building our office and worked from home for some months. I had a chance to watch my green garden in these situations, and after 5 minutes getting rid of some weed or checking my tomatoes I was in shape again.

Unfortunately I cannot plant tomatoes in the office, can I?

Yes Tomás, you can!
Do a Google search on "Aero Garden".
I got one of those for my birthday and my herbs are growing like crazy.
You can get tomato seeds and grow them as well.

Lost of concentration - different causes Oct 14, 2008

Hand cramped --> I cuddle my cat like 1000s of other translators here
Eyes tired --> look in the garden (Tomas even green plants * in the office are good)
lack of some nutrients --> brain food like nuts, fruit, honey, oat flakes
reading the text aloud getting hoarse --> some honey, ice-cream, tea
boring text --> imagine that I am working on a very secret mission or that the client just tests my frustration

feeling empty /senseless--> singing karaoke and imagine my dear colleagues
during the next powwow bursting into wild raging applause

* in pidgin English: the disorderly structures of plants help the eyes to relax, that is scientifically proven

Lightly salted peanuts? Change of profession? Oct 14, 2008

A protein fix always seems to boost my concentration. Lightly salted peanuts or a protein bar.

Paradoxically, some people with ADHD have one or two areas of interest in which they hyperfocus. If you have such areas of interest, you might want to consider whether you can make a living at any of them. I know a couple of people who became translators for precisely that reason.

Learn languages... Oct 16, 2008

I often shift to study languages or something else to improve my translation skills...in this way I would get concentrated back to my translation:-)
