From a microbial point of view, there ist a difference between whether organisms contained in surfactants should be destroyed or their activity merely inhibited by preservation measures. In the first care a mirobiocidal effect ist expected. The number of organisms which multiply and are thus harmful to products must be reduced as quickly as possible.
