Hello everyone

It would be great if I could specify a separate e-mail address for some parts of the site. For example, I would prefer not to receive KudoZ notifications and forum notifications at my main office e-mail address that I normally reserve for client-related mails. Yes, I know that I can filter incoming mails, but I prefer to have these two types of communication in separate mailboxes altogether.

What do you think?

Samuel

One can stop receiving Kudoz notifications altogether May 29, 2013

Hi Samuel.
I agree that receiving Kudoz question notifications can really jam up the inbox. One can always stop receiving them altogether and just look on the home page (set up to see Kudoz questions in your language pair(s) - any pairs you have listed as working pair or that you have an interest in). You can check the homepage as often or as little as you like.
I have personally found this to be a great solution (for the past 7 years...). I haven't done this for forum notificatio

Makes perfect sense to me, and I would also value that possibility since I have the same case here.

Create a rule May 29, 2013

I just "create a rule" in Outlook and everything from Proz and any other translation sites goes to the same folder, rather than my main Inbox, for me to peruse at my leisure.

That is what I currently do, but I find that it wastes time, and I would actually prefer to receive notifications. There aren't many KudoZ posts in my language combination, so receiving them in my main office e-mail account is tolerable. However, I do not want my main office e-mail account to be flooded with forum notifications, and there are many of those. I do want to receive notifications, however, and I prefer to get them by e-mail and not by RSS.

I use rules extensively in all three my e-mail clients, but in this case I do not want those mails in my office e-mail account in the first place. The mail client for my main translation work is Gmail's web interface, but for other translation related but non-job related mails I use a separate mail account and for that I use Thunderbird on my computer. So it is completely separate. A rule won't help.

Excellent suggestion May 29, 2013

I also would prefer not to mix various notifications with business related correspondence.

Dedicated address May 29, 2013

I have had the same issue since joining proz. The problem is that the email you give is the one where all proz-related stuff goes. So, I use an email address that is only for proz-related mails. It means that I miss out on occasional job offers, and the senders must think me rude for not replying to them (last week I finally replied to an email from a fellow prozer regarding a collaboration that had been sent last August)

BTW I don't use Outlook or anything similar, AFAIK.
