Hello, As a parent with kids in the village school, I teach English a couple of times a week to the children in my village (ages 7-8) and the teacher has asked me to help them prepare a father's day card for next Sunday. I thought it would be nice to make it a bit more international and have "Happy father's day" on the card written in various languages : Bonne fête Papa Happy father's day... that's more or less as far as I can go, unfortunately... See more Hello, As a parent with kids in the village school, I teach English a couple of times a week to the children in my village (ages 7-8) and the teacher has asked me to help them prepare a father's day card for next Sunday. I thought it would be nice to make it a bit more international and have "Happy father's day" on the card written in various languages : Bonne fête Papa Happy father's day... that's more or less as far as I can go, unfortunately Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic would be firm favourites. I have looked it up on the net, but found bizarre French translations, so couldn't really trust the languages I didn't understand!!! So I thought Proz would be my safest bet. If you could also give me an idea of how to pronounce the sentence, that would be great (vague enough, but they are bound to ask!). Thanks in advance for your help! Nath

If your father is from Finland, you can send him a postcard for the second sunday in November with "Hyvää Isänpäivää!". Don't miss out the dotted a's.

That's great! The idea is for them to write "Happy father's day" in different colours in a spiral finishing with the language spoken by their respective father (hence my request for Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic). As they regularly ask about other languages during our class, especially the children from a bilingual background, I thought they would enjoy the exercise. And they are going to love the different alphabets... See more That's great!
