Hi guys,

The location for this Powwow will be as follows:

Nordic Bar
25 Newman Street
London
W1T 1PN
www.nordicbar.com

The bar is behind Oxford Street. You can see the map on their website for more details. The Nordic Bar is not normally open at 3pm but they will open just for us. We'll have a private room. No charge for entry. I did try to book the King and Queen (where the events are normally held), but sadly it was not available. Anyway, the Nordic Bar will be a new experience for us!

The official starting time is 3pm as requested, but I'll arrive a bit early, and we'll probably continue until about 6-7. I'm sure some people will want to stay for more drinks after that. I wouldn't arrive too much after 6pm though in-case we've all gone already.

This is mainly a way to network and meet other translators. Please bring business cards if you have them, or CV's. Feel free to invite anyone who might be interested. I'll ask a couple of experienced member to circulate and try to make sure the shy attendees get a chance to chat with everyone. If anyone wants to volunteer to help out, please leave a comment below and I'll get in touch. Mainly it would be good to have a backup in case I get sick on the day and can't attend.

Please do post any questions or concerns, this is the first meetup I'm arranging. If there are any problems on the day you can call me on 07770 753 717. The Nordic Bar can be reached on 020 7631 3174, they will help you if you get lost!

At the last powwow I asked several people how often they thought the powwows should be run in London. Some said two months and others said once a month. On that basis I thought it would be good to hold this powwow one month after the last (March) one. If that's equally popular we can stay monthly. If the numbers decline we can move to once every two months in future. Although I'll be happy to let someone else organize anything.

Now here's the important part: FREE DRINKS!

The bar liked us and said we can have a free round of drinks next time! I'm not sure the exact details, but I guess that means the first few of us to arrive at 3pm can get a free drink! The rest of us will have to pay though.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
Best,
David

All are welcome Mar 25, 2013

Laura Pistininzi and others have asked if they can bring people. The answer is absolutely yes! Anyone is welcome, other translators, partners, boyfriends/girlfriends. The more the merrier!
