“Senza ombra di dubbio Yuzuru Hanyu, che, per la prima volta in carriera, si è imposto nei Campionati dei Quattro Continenti completando il “Superslam” del pattinaggio figura. Il fuoriclasse nipponico è diventato il primo pattinatore del settore maschile a vincere su ogni fronte possibile in categoria maggiore e juniores. L’impresa assume contorni epici se si pensa che queste affermazioni sono state spalmate su tre decadi differenti, fatto che vanta il solo precedente della pattinatrice di coppia ucraina, ma di passaporto tedesco, Aljona Savchenko.
Per rendere indelebile il ricordo del successo conquistato a Seoul, Hanyu ha pensato di sfoderare nel programma corto una delle migliori prestazione della storia stabilendo l’ennesimo primato mondiale della ultradecennale carriera. Per l’occasione, ha rispolverato le fedeli note della Ballata n.1 di Chopin realizzando una prova senza alcuna sbavatura, che, alla luce degli standard di giudizio recenti, sarebbe potuta valere anche qualcosa in più dei quasi 112 punti ottenuti. I tre elementi di salto, tutti perfettamente eseguiti, meritavano il massimo grado di esecuzione a disposizione e anche le valutazioni delle varie componenti del programma non hanno spiccato il volo non rispettando fino in fondo quanto emerso in pista. Diciamo che sono mancati all’appello almeno 1,19 punti sul fronte tecnico e altrettanti sulle componenti del programma. In ogni caso, con una prova nuovamente puntuale su ciascun elemento e con la medesima qualità artistica non è escluso che Hanyu possa scollinare oltre quota 114, peraltro il valore reale del programma pattinato in Corea.
In vista dei Campionati mondiali, il grosso del lavoro riguarderà il programma libero, presentato a Seoul in una versione provvisoria. Nello specifico, bisognerà capire quali salti quadrupli verranno inseriti nel lay-out definitivo. Comunque vada a finire, servirà una condizione atletica di primo piano per pattinare al meglio l’impegnativo Seimei 3.0. A tal proposito, il fatto di non doversi adattare in pochi giorni a un nuovo fuso orario, visto e considerato che si gareggerà in Canada, potrebbe rappresentare un vantaggio.
Per il resto, la prestazione di Seoul nel programma libero, al di là di un leggero calo fisico nel finale, è stata condizionata dallo stato del ghiaccio. Come si può evincere osservando attentamente i piedi degli ultimi tre atleti che sono scesi in pista, le zone dove abitualmente si punta per effettuare i salti presentavano buchi di diverse dimensioni, in un caso quasi una voragine. Per chi si trova a eseguire salti quadrupli, il non effettuare uno stacco di qualità per fattori esterni diventa altamente penalizzante perché può generare problemi nel raggiungere la consueta altezza e l’ottimale velocità di rotazione. Stesso dicasi per l’atterraggio.
In questa stagione, è capitato più volte che le condizioni del ghiaccio non fossero a norma. Resta da capire il perché di questa preoccupante deriva. Secondo alcuni, dipenderebbe dal proliferare sempre più massiccio di dispositivi elettronici che, in presenza di folto pubblico, creerebbero scompensi all’abituale situazione ambientale. L’attenta analisi del problema con annessi e connessi toccherà agli esperti del caso, ma urge una soluzione”.

In this occasion, he brought back the faithful notes of the Ballad No.1 by Chopin, delivering a performance that might have scored even more than the almost 112 points it got. The three jump elements, all perfectly executed, deserved the maximum GOE available, and even the components score didn’t go up, and it didn’t completely reflect what was expressed on the ice. Let’s say that at least 1.19 points are missing on the technical score, and just as much on the program components. In any case, with a performance as good as this on every element, and with the same artistic quality, it’s not beyond Hanyu to get over 114, that is by the way the real value of the program skated in Korea.
Before the World Championships, the big part of the work will be on the free skate. Specifically, we’ll need to understand which quadruple jumps will be put in the definitive layout. In any case, he’ll need a perfect athletic condition to skate the demanding Seimei 3.0 at its best. On this regard, the fact that he won’t need to adapt in few days to a new time zone, as the competition is in Canada, could represent an advantage.
As for the rest, the Seoul performance in the free skate, beyond a slight physical drop in the final part, was conditioned by the state of the ice. As you can see by carefully watching the feet of the last three athletes on the ice, the zones they usually use to make the toepick-assisted jumps had holes of every size, in one case very deep and wide. For those who perform quadruple jumps, not having a high-quality take-off is highly penalizing, because it can give problems in reaching the usual height and the best rotation speed. The same can be said for the landing.In this season, several times the conditions of the ice haven’t been compliant to the regulation. This worrying fact needs to be understood. For some, it depends more and more by the increase of the number of electronic devices that, with a lot of public, might create imbalances in the environmental situation of the rink. A careful analysis of the problem, taking into consideration any correlation, has to be referred to the necessary experts, but we are in dear need of a solution”.
