I'm Kevin Sohn, born October 4th, 1956 in Korea. I'm an IT experts specializing software develop, NLS, system integration, consulting plus translation & tech editing. Over 10 years of my extraordinary experiences is NLS - National Language Support, which is to implement Non-English languages such as Korean on English software.
Translation could be considered as the core part of NLS, yet NLS involes a lot more than translation. Technically, first step of NLS is to enable computers to handle different Languages. Sounds easy. But, twenty some years ago, NLS was not that simple thing. Lot's of technical works must been done. Making NLS enabled Operating System, brand new Terminals, printers, font, Database, search algorithm, translation of MRI(Machine readable information) etc etc.

NLS and translation are not always one direction from English to target languages but from one source language such as Korean to multi-target languages. I had managed projects to convert Korean Software to English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and German Languages. It was never easy job to manage multiple translation vendor at the same time.
