Source text - Hebrew קבוצת הכדורגל של הפועל באר-שבע הינה כיום קבוצה בינונית בליגה השנייה בישראל. שנותיה הגדולות של הקבוצה היו שנות ה-70 . באותן שנים זכתה הקבוצה פעמיים באליפות ישראל, למרות היותה הנציגה היחידה של אזור הדרום בליגה הלאומית דאז. באותה תקופה השחקנים שיחקו עבור הדגל והכבוד. היום שחקנים באים לכדורגל כדי להרוויח כסף ולא איכפת להם מהמועדון אותו הם מייצגים. בשנות ה-70 העליזות היו כל השחקנים פרט לשוער ילידי העיר באר שבע והסביבה והייתה להם גאווה מקומית. היום ישנם שחקני חיזוק זרים שבאים לעונה-שתיים ואחר כך עוזבים. כל מה שמעניין אותם זה כסף. קברניטי הקבוצה צריכים להבין שיש לטפל את הצעירים המקומיים ולא להביא זרים על חשבונם. רק כך תוכל הפועל באר שבע לחזור לימי הזוהר של הקבוצה. ימים בהם חברים שלי היו בין אלו שהביאו גאווה לעיר ולאזור הנגב כולו.
Translation - English The Hapoel Beer-Sheva soccer club is today a mediocre club in the second Israeli league. The 70s were the heyday of the club. In those years the club won twice the Israeli first league championship, although it was the only club representing the Southern region in the national league of that time. Back then the players played for the flag and for honor. Today players come to soccer in order to make a bundle of dollar, and they don't care about the club they represent. In the roaring 70s all players except the goalkeeper were born in Beer-Sheva and it's surrounding Negev area and were local patriots. Nowadays there are foreign players that come for one season or two and then leave. The only thing that interests them is money. The owners of the club must understand that care must be taken of the young local players, instead of bringing foreign players to block their advancement. Only thus could Hapoel Beer-Sheva return to it's days in the sun. Days in which personal friends of mine were among those who brought pride to the town and to the entire Negev region.
