Source text - English 1) “I Think We Need Space.”
Probably number one after “It’s not you, it’s me,” this phrase should not be ignored. Not necessarily the definitive end, space could mean temporarily lightening up but usually implies both physical and emotional separation. Time or distance can help clarify a specific situation – or force your dismissing darling out of mind. Either way, if your partner introduces the subject of separation, they obviously aren’t happy.
2) “I’ll Call You Later.”
Tone is everything with this statement. Accompanied by an exasperated sigh, later can mean “leave me alone.” The word later is pretty vague, which may lead you to reel from the possible meanings. Did they mean later today or later next week? When you’ve gone from seeing each other every day to a sudden cool off, your relationship is sinking. Maybe you have been too needy or your mate is busy and can’t communicate with you right now. Whatever the reason, don’t press it. They obviously don’t want to talk about it now, and forcing them to discuss the sudden chill may force them away for good.
3) “So-and-So Doesn’t Do That!”
If your sweetheart is comparing you to someone else or another relationship, it’s a bad sign. Whether it’s her first love or his doting mother who can do no wrong, comparisons undermine and belittle. It’s possible your partner is sabotaging your chances at a fresh start or is not quite over their previous paramour. This type of accusatory appraisal indicates that your mate believes your relationship doesn’t measure up. Don’t try to defend your potential, but do discuss your partner’s lingering loyalties.
4) “You’re a %*&^$#!!”
Throwing insults and name-calling are some of the biggest signs of disrespect in a relationship. When you’ve reached the point that you are trying to hurt your beloved’s feelings and get under their skin, your relationship is rotting. There is no justification, rationalization, or excuse for treating your partner this way. Of course, in heated situations, overreacting happens. However, there’s a difference between owning up to a slipup and blaming it on the other person.
5) Nothing
When you’ve stopped communicating altogether, it’s over and probably has been for some time. Regroup, cut your losses, and move on. You aren’t doing yourself or anyone else a service by clinging to a rebuffed relationship.

Provavelmente a que está em primeiro lugar depois de “Não é você, sou eu,” essa frase não deve ser ignorada. Mesmo que não signifique o fim definitivo, "dar um tempo" normalmente significa alívio temporário, mas normalmente implica separação, tanto emocional quanto física. Tempo e distancia podem ajudar a esclarecer uma situação especifica, ou tirar da mente o seu amante em despedida. Seja qual for o caso, se o seu conjugue der inicio ao assunto da separação, ele obviamente não está feliz.
2) - Eu te ligo depois.
O tom é tudo nessa afirmação. Acompanhado de um suspiro exasperado, “depois” pode significar “me deixe em paz.” A palavra “depois" é muito vaga, o que pode fazer você vacilar com significados possíveis. Ele quis disser depois hoje ou semana que vem? Se vocês deixaram de se ver todos os dias para se acalmar, sua relação está afundando. Talvez você esteja necessitado demais ou o seu companheiro esteja muito ocupado e não possa ligar agora. Qualquer que seja a razão, não force a barra. Ele obviamente não quer conversar agora, e força-lo a discutir a frieza repentina pode afastá-lo para sempre.
3) - O Fulano não faz assim!
Se o seu conjugue está te comparando com outra pessoa ou outra relação, é um mau sinal. Sejam o primeiro amor dela ou a mãe coruja dele que nunca fazem nada de errado, comparações questionam e menosprezam. É possível que seu parceiro esteja sabotando suas chances de um novo começo ou que não tenha superado o amante anterior. Esse tipo de avaliação acusatória indica de seu companheiro acredita que sua relação não lhe faz jus. Não tente defender o seu potencial, mas discuta as lealdades do seu parceiro. a longo prazo.
4) - Você é um %*&^$#!!
Insultar e chamar de nomes são alguns dos os maiores sinais de desrespeito numa relação. Quando você tiver a intenção de ferir os sentimentos de seu amado ou chateá-lo, sua relação esta apodrecendo. Não há justificativa lógica ou desculpa para tratar o seu parceiro assim. É claro que, em situações tempestuosas, exageros acontece. Porem há uma diferença entre admitir culpa e joga-la em outra pessoa.
5) Nada.
Se vocês pararam de se comunicar completamente, já acabou e provavelmente já há algum tempo. Reagrupe, reduza suas perdas e prossiga. Você não vai se ajudar ou a mais ninguém se prendendo a uma relação rejeitada.

TN: I am posting this sample here because in the Brazilian version of the game this quotation was translated poorly. They didn't know that Executor is a title given to protoss commanders. They made it look like Executor is an object she had with her at the moment.

NT: Eu postei essa amostra aqui porque na versão brasileira do jogo essa fala foi mau traduzida. Eles não sabiam que Executor é um titulo dado para comandantes protoss. A tradução deles é "Este é o executor."

I'm a Translator/Interpreter residing in Brazil. I believe I’m above the average in terms of skill and competence, because I see a lot of badly translated works in movies, TV shows comic books and video games. (Famous ones, actually)
A translator doesn't just convert a text from one language to another. A translator is also a text editor. Anyone can use softwares to translate texts, but those would be literal translations. A true translator analyzes the text, its meaning and its context in order to transcribe it to the target language and target audiences.
Translating for dubbing requires that the translator adapt the translated text to the movement of the character's lips on the screen. Sometimes, though, a translator will be asked to localize the translation, which means he or she will have to adapt the content to a "local" audience. Good examples of localized dubbing are animes that originally had "inappropriate" content for most audiences but were edited so that they could release it on American children's TVs.
Translating for subtitling doesn't require all those adaptations, but the translator must still make sure the subtitles are properly timed so that they are easily readable, and in time.
A video game is software and should be translated as one, but with a few differences. Nowadays, games are not just menus and help files. In game characters are played by voice actors (this means they must be dubbed into the local language of a foreign market) and those speeches have subtitles too. In high-end games you don't have to worry about synchronizing your translation to the character's lips. The games’ programmers will usually synchronize the lips' movements to the actors' speeches. (An example of a translated video game is the Brazilian edition of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, even though it has a number of translations mistakes and misinterpreted jargons)
