Ya entrados en el mes de febrero, vemos cada día mas cerca al día en que se celebra el muy conocido Día del Amor y la Amistad. A muchos les produce ese cosquilleo en el estomago que se siente cuando "se esta enamorado" y se espera recibir una infinidad de muestras afectuosas de la pareja, así como dar sorpresas que alaguen a ese ser especial en nuestras vidas. Para otros es una fecha que se convierte en melancólica y un tanto deprimente en los auto-nombrados "Forever Alone." Pues su estado actual es "soltero" o "soltera" ya que no han encontrado aun a su media naranja o pareja ideal. Otros mas identificados en este grupo, quizás cortaron con su pareja recientemente y por lo tanto no tendrán la excusa de entregar o recibir chocolates, flores o quizás una carta romántica que alimente esa ilusión por la que todos hemos pasado en un momento de nuestras vidas.
Me gusta este mes, y no es tanto por el hecho de tener pareja o no, pues aunque creo que el mejor estado de una persona sea hombre o mujer, es en pareja, también el no tenerla permite que podamos conocernos a nosotros mismos mejor y quizás enfocar esas energías en otras cosas también importantes y muy positivas. Me gusta febrero porque aunque sabemos que la mercadotecnia es poderosa y manipula las mentes de los consumidores, creándoles la urgencia de comprar algo en cierta fecha por cierta razón justificable y emotiva, nos hace meditar también sobre el amor.
El amor no es necesariamente el de pareja. Por ahí se dice que para poder amar a alguien, primeramente se tiene que amar uno mismo, de otra forma caemos en un tipo de codependencia hacia otra persona, pues dependemos de esta para encontrar una razón porque vivir o sentirnos felices. Sin embargo la felicidad no es algo circunstancial, es algo que se produce de adentro hacia afuera, y cuando existe esa emoción constante en nuestro interior, podemos ser capaces de dar lo que tenemos...felicidad. y por lo tanto ser felices y capaces de dar eso, amor.
El amor es un sentimiento interno que se presenta de distintas formas, puede ser amor a la vida, a nuestra trabajo, a nuestros amigos, a nuestra familia, hijos, hermanos, padres, a la gente en general, y esa emoción nos impulsa a tratar de ser mejor cada día y hacer una diferencia. Pero que es el amor? La mayoría tenemos el concepto y enseñanza sobre el amor como lo menciona la biblia la cual dice que "el amor es sufrido, es benigno, el amor no tiene envidia, el amor no es jactancioso, no se envanece, no hace nada indebido, no busca lo suyo, no se irrita, no guarda rencor; no se goza de la injusticia, mas se goza de la verdad. Todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta. Todas las cosas pasaran, pero el amor nunca dejara de ser," (1ra Cor. 13:4-8).
En un mundo donde cada vez nos habituamos mas a vivir a prisa, donde queremos hacer todo de manera instantánea como una sopa de vaso en el microondas, considerados como la famosa "generación perdida," nos olvidamos de las pequeñas cosas que tienen mucho valor y que no tienen un precio, como lo es el amar. Atrévete a disfrutar de la vida cada segundo, con sus altas y bajas, pues el mañana es incierto y el pasado nunca volverá. Permite que el amor haga de ti una mejor persona, que cuando veas a alguien ese encuentre en ti una sonrisa que alimente su alma. En este mes del amor y la amistad se eso..un amigo, un hermano, un cómplice pero para bien, para ser feliz...y déjate llevar por la emoción que quizás te inspire a escribir un poema, una carta, una canción o tal vez regalar una flores, unos chocolates o simplemente pasar el rato con una persona especial. Ama, sonríe incontrolablemente, quizás hasta que te duela el estomago; perdona, no guardes rencor, atrévete a hacer lo que te hace feliz, besa despacio, no corras a prisa y si no tienes a quien besar...solo disfruta de la vida y de todo lo que te rodea, dando gracias a Dios por este preciso momento. Feliz día del amor y la amistad!

February already started, and every day is closer to that day that marks the so well-known "Day of Love and Friendship." Many are already experiencing that tingling in the stomach you feel when you are in love, so they are in the expectation of many surprises that are usually given to that special person in our lives on Valentine's Day. For others, Valentine's is just a day that becomes somewhat gloomy and depressing on the self-appointed "Forever Alone," as for their current status is "single" or "unmarried" and still have not found a soul mate or a perfect partner. Some others identified in this group have probably just recently broken up with their partner and therefore, would not have the excuse of giving or receiving chocolates, flowers or perhaps a romantic letter that feeds the illusion we have all felt at least once in our lives.
I like this month, and it's not for the reason of having a partner or not, because although I think the best state of a person whether is a male or a female, is being with someone, not having it also allows us to get to know ourselves better and perhaps focus our energy on other relevant and positive things of life. I like February because perhaps we know that marketing is powerful and it manipulates the minds of consumers by creating the urgency of buying something on a certain date for some justifiable reasons and emotions, it also makes us think about love.
Love is not necessarily just the type of love felt between a couple. For there it is said that in order for someone to love another person, one must first love her or himself, otherwise we fall into a kind of codependency to someone else, because we are depending on that to find a reason to live or to be happy for. I believe that happiness is not something superfluous and temporary; rather, it is something that occurs from the inside out, so when there is that constant emotion within us, we may be able to give what we have ... happiness, and therefore, be happy and able to give that...love.
Love is an inter feeling that comes in many forms. It can present itself in the form of love to life, to our work, to our friends, to our family, to our children, to our siblings, parents, or people in general, and that emotion drives us to try to be better, and improve everyday and try to make a difference. But what is love? Most have the concept and teachings about love as it is mentioned in the Bible where it says "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." All things shall pass, but love will never cease. "(1 Cor. 13:4-8).
In a world where we get more and more used to living in a hurry, where we want to do everything instantly as a cup soup in the microwave, we are considered as the so called "lost generation," we forget the little things that are valuable and have no pricetag, as it is love. Dare to enjoy every second of life, with everything in it, its ups and downs, because tomorrow is uncertain and the past will never return, it's gone. May love make you a better person. When you see someone that you meet, greet them with a smile that could feed their soul. In this month of love and friendship be that: a friend, a brother, an accomplice but for good, and to be happy. Let yourself get carried away by that emotion that might inspire you to write a poem, a letter, a song or maybe... give flowers, some chocolates, or just hang out with a special person. Love, laugh uncontrollably, perhaps until your stomach hurts. Forgive, never allow resentment to take root in your heart, dare to do what makes you happy, kiss slowly, do not rush to hurry, and if you do not have someone to kiss ... just enjoy life and all the things around you, giving thanks to God for this very moment.
