English to French: Cover letter - Lettre de motivation
Source text - English I’m currently seeking employment in copy-editing, proofreading and translation in English, French and/or Greek. I’m eager to get started and have some experience in the field of legal texts (articles, documents) and scientific articles. I would also enjoy the opportunity to work with literature and publications in other fields than those which I have already pursued.
It would be very personally fulfilling for me to work in areas involving words and languages and I believe I can provide motivation and flexibility towards any challenge which may present itself.
As regards translating skills, my native language is English (American) although I have been schooled in English, French as well as Greek. French and English (American/British) are languages I can translate to, whereas Italian and Greek I can translate from. Nevertheless, I’m passionate about syntax, spelling, style and etymology and believe that my greater strengths lie in copyediting and proofreading (English/French/Greek).
Translation - French Je cherche actuellement de l’emploi dans la correction de texte, la relecture et la traduction en anglais, français et/où grec. Je suis désireuse de commencer et j’ai de l’expérience dans le domaine des documents juridiques (articles, documents) ainsi que dans le domaine des documents scientifiques. Je serais aussi heureuse de profiter de l’occasion pour travailler sur des textes littéraires et des publications dans des domaines autres que ceux dans lesquels j’ai déjà travaillée.
Ce serait une expérience très enrichissante pour moi de travailler dans le domaine des mots et des langues et je crois que je peux me montrer très motivée et flexible, face à n’importe quel défi qui se présente.
En ce qui concerne mes compétences en traduction, je voudrais spécifier que ma langue maternelle est l’anglais (américain) bien que j’ai été scolarisée en anglais, français aussi bien qu’en grec. Le français et l’anglais sont des langues vers lesquelles je peux traduire, tandis que l’italien et le Grec restent des langues source. Néanmoins je suis passionnée de syntaxe, style et étymologie et je crois que mes points forts se trouvent dans la correction de texte et la relecture (anglais/français/grec).

Translation - Greek Αναζητώ εργασία στην επεξεργασία και διόρθωση κειμένων, όπως και στην μετάφραση στα Αγγλικά, Γαλλικά ή και στα Ελληνικά.
Έχω κάποια πείρα με νομικά κείμενα (άρθρα, έγγραφα) και επιστημονικά. Θα με ενδιέφερε πολύ να δουλέψω με λογοτεχνικά κείμενα και δημοσιεύσεις σε άλλους τομείς εκτός αυτών όπου έχω είδη εργαστεί.
Πιστεύω πως θα μπορούσα να αποδειχθώ δραστήρια και ευέλικτη σε οποιαδήποτε πρόκληση που ενδεχομένως θα παρουσιαζόταν.
Όσο αφορά τις μεταφραστικές μου ικανότητες, η μητρική μου γλώσσα είναι τα Αγγλικά παρόλο που η μόρφωσή μου ήταν στα Αγγλικά (ΗΠΑ), Γαλλικά όπως και στα Ελληνικά. Τα Γαλλικά και Αγγλικά (Αμερικάνικα/ Εγγλέζικα) είναι γλώσσες στις οποίες είμαι σε θέση να μεταφράσω, ενώ μπορώ να μεταφράσω από Ιταλικά και Ελληνικά.
Δίνω ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στη σωστή σύνταξη, την ορθογραφία, το στυλ του κειμένου και την ετυμολογία και πιστεύω πως οι δυνάμεις μου βρίσκονται στην διόρθωση και επεξεργασία κειμένων (Αγγλικά/Γαλλικά/Ελληνικά).
