I specialize in DE-EN technical translation, with particular expertise in the following areas: I.T., software, SAP, ERP, games, and health care informatics.
I translate interfaces, documentation, manuals, specifications and design documents, training courses, presentations, product info, and marketing materials.
I am a very experienced proofreader and have training in and some experience of copyediting.
I will also handle non-technical texts from French into English (for example, CVs, certificates, general business texts).
I have a BA and PhD in Translation and over 4 years' professional experience. I have worked as an in-house translator for a blue-chip software company in Germany, at the European HQ of a global leader in localization/globalization solutions in Dublin, and as a freelance translator since September 2005. I also taught translation to undergraduates at DCU from 1997 to 2001.
As an in-house translator, I built up expertise handling urgent requests, project management of large-scale projects, terminology management, reviewing translations, editing English texts written by non-native speakers, and getting the most out of translation technology (see resume for more details).
As a freelance translator, projects to date include a 7-week on-site system localization assignment for a global provider of transportation solutions and translation/editing of articles for a corporate magazine for a global provider of industrial solutions.
My PhD involved a good grounding in literary translation and I can be very creative when required!
Customers can expect a professional, punctual, and pleasant service at all times.
Miscellaneous: In case you're wondering about my name - I'm Irish, I'm female, and "Niamh", which rhymes with "eve", is Irish for "brightness" or "brilliance" (depending on which dictionary you use)! |
