B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University, New York City in 1974 with A- average, majoring in French literature, but taking several science courses at same grade-point average. Worked part-time in lab of Nobel laureate in physics.
Earned J.D. (Juris Doctor) from University of Minnesota Law School (one of the top twelve at the time) in 1981, graduating cum laude (with honors). Won competitive appointment to teach legal writing second and third years.
Many years experience in one of Minnesota's largest law firms, focused on civil litigation, with early first-chair or solo responsibility for appeals in state and federal courts. (Many sample results are easily found in legal search databases by searching on my name.) Additional experience as administrative law judge presiding over contested cases, and heading up a department of thirty lawyers in a national legal ghost-writing company.
