Bio

I've worked as a translator since 2006. Having translated a lot of marketing texts I’ve had to translate texts from many different industries and fields. In the last year or so I’ve translated marketing material for artificial turf, granite surfaces, toothbrushes, IT solutions, snowboards and on and on. If I am not entirely familiar with the subject, I see it as an opportunity to learn more.

I’ve built up my own extensive glossary of IT terms that aren’t covered by the publicly available glossaries. IT and marketing are fields that quite often overlap, but it's much rarer to see translators that are genuinely good at both. When I proofread or QC I see extremely clumsy, ugly prose, I see translators who apparently aren’t even using the publically glossaries and is clearly guessing when translating terminology (and sometimes I see both!) I do both things well, and more besides.

I have never translated books, but with experience of manuscripts, articles, marketing and subtitling, I think I can do justice to beautiful prose and dialogue (which is beyond the capabilities of a lot of excellent technical translators). But I find looking up rows of technical terms just as interesting in its own way, I love research.

I use WordFast, Trados, Memsource and many other tools.
