Bio
Current availability:

I am currently not taking on any commercial or documentary translation projects because of a rather demanding work/study schedule. However, I am always interested in literary or art-related projects, for which I am prepared to discuss very reasonable prices or pro-bono work, if the project is of interest to me. I also occasionally take on subtitling, depending on my schedule and how interesting I find the project.

Education and work:

I am in the last term of my Master's Degree in Literary Translation at the University of Oslo, while simultaneously working full-time as a teacher in lower and upper secondary school and completing a teacher education (PPU, pedagogical add-on unit at UiO).

For my master's thesis, I am translating and commenting on an excerpt from Mervyn Peake's "Gormenghast", a fantasy cult classic full of dense, challenging and beautiful language. I have previously completed a Bachelor's Degree in Translation at UiO, which also included a term of literary subjects at Cardiff University. I would like to specialise in fantasy and sci-fi translation, since I've been frequently annoyed by some of the available Norwegian translation in this field and their lack of respect and understanding of the genre. My second favourite segment would be the great Victorian novels - a retranslation of "Vanity Fair" would be a dream project.

During most of my studies, I was working as a freelance translator of various topics and projects on the side, until I started teaching English full-time three years ago. (Actually, a translator's education and background turns out to be a fantastic tool in helping young minds find their way between two languages.)

Other interests and projects:

I am in my 20th year as a composer and writer for my band, Madder Mortem. This means I've worked a lot with expressive lyrics and verbal imagery, and I am very interested in any project where I would be able to use some of this experience. I read a lot, anything and everything, and I have two lovely dogs.

Do not hesitate to contact me if:

- you have a project that is a little out-of-the-ordinary that touches on metal or rock subculture, esoterica, the fantastic or the unreal

- you have a really exiting, creative and interesting project, but no budget for language/translation services

- you want to discuss fantasy/sci-fi translation
