Nobody really knows what causes migraines, but current research suggests migraines may be caused by functional changes in the trigeminal nerve system, a major pain pathway in your nervous system, and by imbalances in brain chemicals, including serotonin, which regulates pain messages going through this pathway. What they know for sure is that causes and treatment are variable for each individual, which is why your neurologist will want to know as much about your history and symptoms as possible.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Cardiac glycoside that increases heart force, decreases heart rate, slows atrioventricular conduction, and exerts moderate diuretic effect.
PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES
Absorption
After oral intake, Digoxin is quickly and entirely absorbed from GI tract.
Distribution
The distribution in the tissues is fast. Concentration of Digoxin in myocardium is significantly higher than in plasma. Digoxin penetrates placenta; a minute amount is excreted in breast milk.
Elimination
The elimination half-life is 34—51 hrs. About 27% of Digoxin is excreted in urine during 24 hours after the intake.

WARNING: INCREASED MORTALITY IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH DEMENTIA RELATED PSYCHOSIS
Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis treated with antipsychotic drugs are at an increased risk of death. Analyses of 17 placebo-controlled trials (modal duration of 10 weeks), largely in patients taking atypical antipsychotic drugs, revealed a risk of death in drug-treated patients of between 1.6 to 1.7 times the risk of death in placebo-treated patients. Over the course of a typical 10-week controlled trial, the rate of death in drug-treated patients was about 4.5%, compared to a rate of about 2.6% in the placebo group. Although the causes of death were varied, most of the deaths appeared to be either cardiovascular (e.g., heart failure, sudden death) or infectious (e.g., pneumonia) in nature.
