자기고백적 시 고찰
모든 문학 작품은 ‘고백’의 성향을 지닌다. ‘고백’은 자아 인식의 추구와 인간의 내면적 고통을 묘사하는 현대 고백시에서의 중심 주제이기도 하다.
고백시는 1950-1960년대에 미국 시단에 등장한 시적 경향을 일컫는다. 고백시의 출발점은 모더니즘 시학의 문명비판정신과 실존주의 철학, 1950년대 신좌파 사회심리학에서 비롯된다. 고백 시인들은 문명에 대한 절대절망과 20세기 문명 앞에서 왜소해진 개인의 실존적 위기의식을 고백함으로써 전체주의 체제에 순응할 수밖에 없는 불안과 공포, 절망을 표현한다. 이들은 사회로부터의 평가절하와 소외라는 고통을 받을 수 있음에도 불구하고 신분의 위험을 무릅쓰고 진실에 대면하려는 용기를 보여준다.
최승자는 「일찍이 세계는」,「악순환」,「자화상」,「근황」등을 통해 자기학대, 자기분열, 자기소외, 깊은 절망과 좌절, 불안, 죽음에의 충동을 드러낸다. 또한 「어떤 아침에는」, 「오 모든 것이 끝났으면」,「세기말」 등을 통해 가부장적 사회, 문명에 대한 분노를 충동적으로 표출한다.
결국 최승자의 7권의 시집에는 자기탐색의 삶을 드러내는 도덕적 용기는 있지만, 자기긍정을 내포하는 존재에의 용기는 없다. 그녀의 깊은 고통과 슬픔은 독자들에게 공감과 위안을 주며, 자기고백과 자기폭로를 통해 치유의 가능성이 보인다. 그런 점에서 최승자의 자기고백적 시는 사회적 고립과 부당한 대우를 받을 수 있는 위험에도 불구하고 의의가 있다 하겠다. 그러나 이제는 갇힌 자신의 세계, 절망에서부터 벗어나 자신을 사랑하고 이웃에게로 시선을 돌리는 인식의 변화가 절실히 필요하다 하겠다.
Translation - English Abstract
A Study on Confessional Poetry
All literary works tend to represent the notion of “confession.” It is a central topic in modern confessional poetry, which has depicted the internal pain of human beings and their pursuit of self-perception.
The term “confessional poetry” has its origins in poetic tendencies that emerged in American poetry in the 1950s and 1960s. Confessional poetry began in the 1950s as a critique of civilization in Modernist poetry, the concept of existentialism, and New Left sociopsychology. In the form of confessions of absolute despair about civilization and of the existential crises of individuals dwarfed by twentieth-century civilization, confessional poets depicted the fear, horror, and despair engendered in humans by their forced submission to contemporary totalitarian systems. Such poets demonstrated courage by facing the truth and did so at the risk of being censured and ostracized. In her poems “Early in the World (「일찍이 세계는」),” “Vicious Cycle (「악순환」),” “Self-Portrait (「자화상」),” and “Recent Events (「근황」)”
Choi Seung-ja depicts self-torment, self-division, self-isolation, deep despair and frustration, fear, and impulses toward death. In addition, in “In a Morning (「어떤 아침에는」),” “I Hope All is Done (「오 모든 것이 끝났으면」),” and “At the End of the Century (「세기말」),” she impulsively expresses her anger against patriarchal societies and civilizations.
Ultimately, the seven books containing Choi Seung-ja's poetry depict the moral courage required for a life of self-searching, but not the courage required to embrace self-positivity. Her deep agony and sadness offer readers sympathy and solace, and her self-confession and self-revelation show potential for healing. In this respect, Choi Seung-ja's poetry is meaningful, although it may dangerously confront social isolation and unfair treatment. Now, therefore, it is imperative that she change her attitude, step out of her enclosed world, shake off her despair, love herself, and look at her neighbors.

The Google computer runs the official clock for the Competition and will solely determine the time by which an entry is received. 2. Competition Entities:
Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 (“Sponsor”); Marden-Kane, Inc., 1055 Franklin Avenue, Suite 300, Garden City, NY 11530 (“Competition Administrator”). Sponsor and Competition Administrator are collectively referred to as the “Competition Entities”.
3. Eligibility:
Competition is open to individuals who, at time of entry, are full-time students between the ages 13 – 18 (except in the Netherlands where students must be at least sixteen (16) years of age, and Spain and South Korea where students must be at least fourteen (14) years of age) and enrolled in a private or public school. Home schooled students between the ages of 13 – 18 are also eligible (except in the Netherlands where students must be at least sixteen (16) years of age, and Spain and South Korea where students must be at least fourteen (14) years of age). An eligible minor must have his/her parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to enter this Competition. Sponsor reserves the right to verify an individual’s eligibility to participate in the Competition.
Finalists from Google Science Fair 2011 may not compete if they are in the same age group as the previous year.
Minors – Parents and Guardians: The parent or legal guardian of an Entrant (as defined in section 4) under the legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence: (a) will ensure that the Entrant in respect of whom they agree to these Official Rules will comply with these Official Rules; and (b) warrants that the Entrant is capable of agreeing to these Official Rules and giving the consent contained herein. Your parent or legal guardian must agree to indemnify the Released Parties (as defined below) for and against: (a) any claims made by you or your family against the Released Parties in connection with the Competition; and (b) any losses (including any liability) caused by any of your conduct which is inconsistent with these Official Rules.
Ineligibility: The Competition is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Myanmar/Burma, Syria, Zimbabwe, and any other U.S. sanctioned country and is void in Brazil and where prohibited by law. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and their immediate family members (which means parents, spouses, children, siblings, in-laws, grandparents and grandchildren and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) or residents in the same household (whether legally related or not) of the Competition Entities and their respective parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotion agencies, legal and financial advisors, any and all other companies associated with this Competition (including other institutions listed on the Competition Site who are involved in judging), are not eligible to enter or otherwise participate in this Competition.
4. How to Enter the General Competition:
You can submit one (1) Entry either as an individual or as part of a group comprised of up to three (3) persons (a “Team” and also the “Team Members”). If you enter the Competition individually or as part of a Team (each, an “Entrant” or “You”), you must first register for the Competition (including designating a Team Leader and providing information for all Team Members, if applicable) and then submit your Science Project (the “Project”) which follows the technical, creative, and legal entry requirements set out in these Official Rules and the Competition Site (which are incorporated herein by reference) (an “Entry”). An Entry may be submitted anytime at the Google Science Fair 2012 site located at http://www.google.com/sciencefair (the “Competition Site”) during the Open Call for Entries (see section 1). Entry Submission must be created either solely by the Entrant or the Team.
Registration: You will be instructed to complete the registration process at http://www.google.com/sciencefair. You must have or create a free Google account to complete the Application Form. To register for a Google account, go to https://accounts.google.com/NewAccount and follow the instructions provided. You will submit your Project in one of three different age groups (13-14, 15-16, 17-18) based on your age OR, if older, the age of the oldest Team Member. After you submit your application form, Google will email a Parental Consent Form to the parent/guardian you listed in your registration and (if applicable) to the parent/guardian of all Team Members. Parental consent is a requirement if you are (and Team Members, if applicable) deemed a minor in your jurisdiction of residence. You must return your properly executed consent forms by a designated date/time to Google before you or your Team is eligible to submit an entry. Parental consent is also required for you to use Google products and services in connection with and as part of participation with the Competition. As part of the registration process for participation in the Competition, you must click the box stating that you have read, accept, and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the terms.
Project Submission: You are required to use Google Sites to create your Project. See http://www.google.com/sites for instructions; Google Sites are free to use for registered users. You will be required to include a Project synopsis (the “Project Synopsis”), either as a two (2) minute video or Google Presentation slideshow with twenty (20) slides, on the homepage of their Google Site. If the video presentation is longer than two (2) minutes, only the first two (2) minutes will be judged. If the slide presentation is longer than twenty (20) slides, only the first twenty (20) slides will be judged (see section 6, Entry Requirements, for additional restrictions). Using Google Sites, you must upload the Project Synopsis and all other required information listed on the Competition Site.
Entrants can submit Projects in any one of the following categories:

Each Entry must contain the following elements:
• About me/the Team: Initial introduction to you/Team and explanation of what winning would mean to you.
• Project question: The scientific question about the hypothesis.
• Hypothesis: Leading on from the question.
• Research and Works cited: The research conducted to help you or your team shape your question and hypothesis and to put your work into a relevant, real-world context.
• Experiment: Demonstration, using good experimental techniques, including a detailed description of the experiment.
• Data: Collected during the experiment to support a conclusion, recorded accurately and precisely, and presented clearly.
• Observations: Description of the patterns or trends supported by the data.
• Conclusion: An explanation of how the experiment answers the question or why it fails to do so and whether or not it supports the hypothesis.
• Bibliography, References and Acknowledgements: References for sources of information that you or your team have consulted and/or referenced and acknowledge any assistance received. Bibliography should be numbered for easy reference.
You may participate in only one (1) Entry Submission, either as an Entrant, Team Leader or Team Member. If you participate in multiple Entry submissions, only the first entry you submit will be judged. All subsequent Entries in which you are listed as a participant will be disqualified. Entries not submitted in accordance with the instructions provided on the Competition Site and these Official Rules may be disqualified, at the sole discretion of the Competition Entities.
Google will assign your region and age group based on information submitted in your registration. Regions are set as follows: The Americas, Europe and Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
5. Special Category: Science in Action: Scientific American is sponsoring a prize (see section 9 for prize details) that will be awarded to a project that addresses a social, environmental, ethical, health or welfare issue to make a practical difference to the lives of a group or community.
6. General Entry Requirements:
Technical Requirements:
a. The Project must be submitted using Google Sites. Instructions on how to enter and create a Google Site can be found online at http://www.google.com/events/sciencefair
b. Running time for Project Synopsis video: two (2) minutes. If the video is longer than two (2) minutes, only the initial two (2) minutes will be judged.
c. Project Synopsis Presentation: The slideshow presentation must be no longer than twenty (20) slides. If the presentation is longer than twenty (20) slides, only the first twenty (20) slides will be judged. Slideshow must be a Google Docs presentation.
d. Language: Submissions should ideally be submitted in one of the following languages: English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Arabic, Hebrew, Polish, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, Korean, or Chinese (simplified or traditional). However, you may submit entries in any language, provided you also provide an English translation/script for English speaking judges. Language used for submission will have no impact on one's opportunity to win.
e. Format: Entry must be delivered by creating a Google Site formatted in accordance with the requirements listed on the Competition Site.
Additional Entry Restrictions:
Projects involving human subjects, human data or human testing are limited to the following:
f. Use of data from pre-existing, publicly available resources;
g. Use of data from behavioral observations of unrestricted, public settings;
h. Use of data received and recorded in an anonymous/de-identified format;
i. Experiments where personal data is not collected and where test does not pose health risks
Projects involving animal subjects or animal data are limited to the following:
j. Use of data from pre-existing, publicly available resources;
k. Use of data from observational or behavioral projects that involve animals in their natural environment
Projects involving biological agent subjects, biological agent data or biological testing are limited to the following:
l. Use of data from pre-existing, publicly available resources;
m. Use of only agents in exempt categories is permitted. These categories include;
■ Baker’s yeast and brewer’s yeast, except when involved with DNA studies;
■ Lactobacillus, Bacillus thurgensis, nitrogen-fixing, oil-eating bacteria, slime mold and algae-eating bacteria introduced into their natural environment (not exempt if cultured in a petri dish environment that could potentially be contaminated);
■ studies of mold growth on food items if the experiment is terminated at the first evidence of mold;
n. Use of tissues are limited to the following:
■ Plant tissue
■ Established cell and tissue cultures (e.g., obtained from the American Type Culture Collection). The source and catalog number of the cultures should be identified in the Research Plan
■ Meat or meat by-products obtained from food stores, restaurants, or packing houses
■ Hair
■ Teeth that have been sterilized to kill any blood borne pathogen that may be present. Chemical disinfection or autoclaving at 121 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes is a recommended procedure
■ Fossilized tissue or archeological specimens
No project may involve usage or handling of hazardous chemicals.
7. Entry Terms:
By entering, if you reside in a country where Google is localized, you agree to comply with Google’s Terms of Service (http://www.google.com/accounts/TOS) and Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html) specific to your localized version of the Google Site, all of which are incorporated by reference into these Official Rules. Usage of Gmail, Google Sites, YouTube and/or any other Google Property is subject to the Terms of Service of each respecting site governing such use and you agree to comply with all such Terms. The United States version of the terms, guidelines, and policies will be in effect for you if you do not reside in a country with a localized version of the Google Site. By entering, regardless of country of entry, you represent and warrant that you have obtained all of the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from any person who may have helped or participated in the creation of the Entry (or from parent/legal guardian if any such person(s) is considered a minor in their country of residence); and that your Entry conforms to these Official Rules, the requirements of the Competition Site, and
a. does not contain any use of the names, likenesses, photographs, or other identifying elements, in whole or in part, of any other person, living, or dead, except as required to cite sources used as part of the entry;
b. does not include music, trademarks, logos, or any copyrighted material not owned by Entrant(s) (this includes things like company names, music, photographs, works of art, television, movies, or other media) or otherwise infringe or violate the rights of any third party or any other intellectual property rights;
c. is not subject to any third party agreement(s) and no third party consents and/or licenses are required in connection herewith, and that the Competition Entities will not be required to pay or incur any sums to any person or entity, including without limitation, any copyright collecting societies or holders of copyrights, neighboring rights, or moral rights, or persons representing such, and any person acting on their behalf as a result of its use or exploitation of the idea, entry materials or rights therein;
d. includes proof that any required permits from local authorities and other permissions have been obtained;
e. does not defame, misrepresent, or contain disparaging remarks or any other content which could adversely affect the name, reputation or goodwill of the Released Entities or any other individuals and/or entities;
f. does not contain pornographic or sexual content, hateful content of any kind (including racism, sexism, etc.), content which promotes violence or harm to another living creature, or any other offensive, obscene or inappropriate content;
g. does not include threats of any kind or that intimidate, harass, or bully anyone; and
h. does not violate any local, state, national or international law or post any content that would encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense.
Competition Administrator reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant who, in their sole discretion, they determine has violated the spirit of the Competition or breached a representation (scientific or otherwise) or warranty at any time during the Competition.
The Competition Administrator reserves the right to review all Entries received during the Open Call for Entries and will only post the ninety (90) Regional Finalists and the Science in Action Award winner on the Competition Site that conform to these Official Rules, as determined by the Competition Administrator in its sole discretion (“Eligible Entries”). Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules as determined by Competition Entities, in their sole discretion, will be disqualified from the Competition and will not appear on the Competition Site. You agree that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Entries by third parties. The Competition Entities do not guarantee the posting of any Entry.
Technical Limitation of Liability: To the extent permitted by applicable law, neither the Competition Entities nor any of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, legal and financial advisors, any and all companies associated with this Competition or any other entities that may be added to the Competition Site as participating in this Competition after these Official Rules are published, and each of their respective officers, directors, shareholders, agents, licensees, licensors and employees, nor any Internet access providers (collectively “Released Parties”) (except where due to the negligence of a Released Party) are responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry of information, human error, technical malfunction, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failure of any telephone, computer or other network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof, inability to access the Competition Site or the Google Site, for problems uploading any Entries or downloading any Competition-related materials from the Google Site or the Competition Site or for late, lost, stolen, damaged, misdirected, incorrect, garbled, delayed, undelivered or incomplete Entries, or other materials. For purposes of these Official Rules, receipt of Entry occurs when the Google Site’s servers successfully receive the uploaded Project on the Competition Site and record the required Entry information. Any Entry/Entrant information collected during the Competition shall be used only in a manner consistent with the consent given by Entrants, at the time of entry, with these Official Rules (specifically including Google’s Privacy Policies referred to above).
8. Judging to Determine Regional Finalists, Science in Action Winner and Grand Prize Winner:
The Entry Requirements and the criteria below shall, collectively, be considered the “Criteria” for purposes of these Official Rules. A panel of representatives of the Sponsor (the Judging Panel” or “Judge(s)”) will determine the manner and process by which Eligible Entries are assessed in their sole discretion.
a. About me / the team
Excellent Entrants/Teams will show a real passion for science and be able to present their ideas with confidence, clarity and enthusiasm, and explain what winning would mean to them.
b. The question
An excellent question will be interesting, creative, worded scientifically and relevant to the world today.
c. Hypothesis
An excellent hypothesis will lead on from the question, be tightly focused and build on existing knowledge.
d. Research and Works cited
Excellent Entrants/Teams will undertake research to help them shape their question and hypothesis and to put their work into a relevant, real-world context.
e. Experiment
Excellent Entrants/Teams will demonstrate that they have used good experimental techniques and describe their experiment clearly and in detail.
f. Data
Excellent data will be relevant, sufficient to support a conclusion and should be recorded accurately and precisely, and be presented clearly.
g. Observations
Excellent observations will describe patterns or trends supported by the data.
h. Conclusion
An excellent conclusion will explain how the experiment answers the question or why it fails to do so and whether or not it supports the hypothesis.
i. Bibliography, References and Acknowledgements
Excellent Entrants/Teams will acknowledge and provide clear references for sources of information that they have consulted and/or referenced and acknowledge any assistance received (e.g. to find equipment and materials, to stay safe or to use unfamiliar equipment or techniques).
Determining the Regional Finalists: A Judging Panel will review and rank all Eligible Entries submitted by scoring the following Criteria:
a. Overview film or presentation (maximum score 40)
b. About Me (maximum score 15)
c. Question (maximum score 15)
d. Hypothesis (maximum score 15)
e. Conclusion (maximum score 15)
100 is a perfect score.
Before the regional finalists are published, the judges will read the top-scoring entries in full to ensure that the scientific method is sound, and there are no breaches of the Google Science Fair rules.
Next, the Judging Panel, using the scoring results will study the top scoring entries further by reviewing the Research, Experiment, Observations, and Data sections of each entry. The highest scoring entries will be checked for “scientific robustness” before they are allowed to proceed to the next stage. To measure scientific robustness the Judging Panel will confirm that the submissions’ scientific technique was equal to the idea and the correct data was gathered to yield the conclusion.
Judging Panel will identify the top ninety (90) highest scoring entries (30 per region, 10 per age group in each of the 3 regions) which will be deemed the “Potential Regional Finalists”. Regions are defined as follows: The Americas, Europe and Middle East, Asia Pacific.
Potential Regional Finalist Notification: The Potential Regional Finalists will be notified of their selection via email on or about May 15, 2012, and will be required to sign and properly execute the following documents and return them via email or facsimile (and subsequently by mail to Competition Administrator) by the date specified in the notification:
1. An Affidavit (or, a Certificate or Declaration (as applicable)) of Eligibility and Publicity Release, unless prohibited by law;
2. An Entrant Agreement and Release;
3. Such other and further agreements as may be required by the Sponsor; (together, the “Releases”).
If a Potential Regional Finalist is a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, the Releases must be filled out and signed by Entrant’s parent or legal guardian, who will be responsible for fulfilling all requirements imposed on minor Regional Finalists stated in these rules (and, in addition, if the Potential Regional Finalist is a minor in Spain, the Entrant’s parent or legal guardian will need to notify Public Prosecutor (“Ministerio Fiscal”) of the content of the Releases). If any Releases sent to a Potential Regional Finalist are returned as undeliverable, if a Potential Regional Finalist cannot be reached within a reasonable time period or fails to properly execute and return all Releases described in these rules within the time period noted, or if a Potential Regional Finalist is found not to be eligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, the Potential Regional Finalist will be disqualified and, at the sole discretion of the Competition Administrator, the individual who submitted the next highest scoring Entry will be notified, time permitting. Please note that the “Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity Release” contains consent to use Regional Finalists’ full names, likeness, city of residence, background, stories, and photographs for promotional purposes and without additional compensation. For the avoidance of doubt, the refusal of such consent will not prevent Potential Regional Finalist from receiving the applicable prize.
Determining the Finalists: The Judging Panel will score all Finalist entries to obtain five (5) Finalists (as defined below) for each of the 3 age groups. The Judging Panel will evaluate all aspects of the entry, focusing more on the detail of the experiments, observations and data than in the previous stage used to determine the Regional Finalists, based on the applicable Criteria listed above. As part of the Finalist selection, Potential Finalists will be required to participate in a phone and/or video interview with a representative of the Judging Panel.
The Judging Panel will identify up to fifteen (15) highest scoring entries (5 per age group) which will be deemed the “Finalists” and will win the Finalist Prize, as further described below.
Determining the Winners: The fifteen (15) Finalists will be awarded the Finalist Prize, a trip to Google Headquarters in Mountain View, CA to participate in the final winner selection event to be held on or about July 22 - July 23, 2012. Finalists will be required to attend the event for two days. At this event, an additional “celebrity” panel of judges will review each entry submission and will select the winners. The Judges will select from among the Finalists one (1) Age Category Winner for each of the 3 age groups (13-14, 15-16, 17-18) and will then select one (1) Grand Prize Winner from among these three (3) Age Category Winners. In the event of a tie during any stage of the judging/winner determination process, all tied Entries will be re-judged by an additional judge selected by the Sponsor who, using the applicable Criteria, will break the tie. The Age Category Winners’ and Grand Prize Winner’s entries will be designated as such and featured on the Competition Site on or about July 24, 2012. Designation as a Finalist, Age Category and/or a Grand Prize Winner is subject to verification of eligibility and proof of compliance with these Official Rules, maintaining compliance with these Official Rules and approval by the Sponsor. If the winner selection event is cancelled, for any reason, the Sponsor will select the final winners selected based on an additional round of judging, based on the Criteria listed above.
If a Finalist, Age Category Winner or Grand Prize Winner is found not to be eligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, Finalist, Age Category Winner or Grand Prize Winner will be disqualified and the Sponsor may select an alternate Entrant, in its sole discretion, to be an alternate Finalist, Age Category Winner or Grand Prize Winner based on the Criteria even if the disqualified Finalist, Age Category Winner or Grand Prize Winner’s name or Entry may have been shown or announced online.
The Judging Panel’s decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition (without prejudice of any claim that could be filed before the Court).
Note: You acknowledge and agree that the Competition Entities reserve the right to disqualify any Entrant at any time, in their sole discretion, on the basis of anything contained in or learned or obtained as a result of any submitted Releases, or any other forms requested by the Competition Entities that, in their sole opinion, would constitute a breach of these Official Rules or otherwise.
9. Prizes: Up to twenty (20) prizes are available to be awarded.
Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive:
1. A Scholarship from Google: A $50,000 scholarship with the intention that it will be used towards the Grand Prize Winner’s further education. If Grand Prize Winner is a Team, the $50,000 will be split equally among Team members.
2. A Once in a Lifetime Experience: The Grand Prize winner will have first choice of an experience at one of the following partner organizations: LEGO/CERN/GOOGLE (Prize Experiences described below)
3. A Personalized LEGO Prize: A personal LEGO colour mosaic (one for each team member, to build her/himself) and 1 set of LEGO MINDSTORMS signed by the design team of LEGO MINDSTORMS as well as the CEO and Owner of LEGO.
4. Google Chromebooks for Winner’s Classroom. Google will donate 1 Chromebook classroom kit to the Winner’s school. Each kit includes; 30 Chromebooks, 1 Chromebook Charging Cart and 1 Google Cloud Printer. If Google is unable to ship Chromebooks to your country of residence, Google reserves the right to provide a prize of similar retail value.
6. Digital Access to Scientific American Archives for your school. Digital access for the Winner(s) School(s) for one (1) year.

LEGO: LEGO will offer the Grand Prize or Finalist winner(s) (plus a guardian if necessary) a two (2) day trip to the LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark. The trip will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the LEGO factory where the winner(s) will have the opportunity to see how LEGO bricks are produced and to present their project to LEGO employees, a visit to LEGOland Denmark and a sightseeing tour of the surroundings of Billund. This experience is valid for one year from winning the prize on July 11, 2012.
CERN: CERN will offer the Grand Prize or Finalist winner(s) (plus a guardian if necessary) the opportunity to spend 3 days at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. The winners(s) will have the opportunity to visit the labs and some experimental areas along with playing an active role as an apprentice physicist during shifts in the LHC experiments’ Control Rooms, thereby truly experiencing science in the making. This experience is valid for one year from winning the prize on July 11, 2012. To participate in this experience the winner must be 14 years of age or older.
Google: Google will offer the Grand Prize or Finalist winner(s) (plus a guardian if necessary) the opportunity to spend three days at the Google research site in Zurich where they will be able to take part in a tour, workshops and participate in hands-on work. This experience is valid for one year from winning the prize and must be completed by July 2013.
Trip (Finalist) Prizes:
The fifteen (15) Finalists who were not selected as a(n) Age Category Winner, Science In Action Winner or Grand Prize Winner will receive a Lego Goodie bag, a Google Goodie Bag and up to a three (3)-day/two (2)-night trip (length of trip dependent on country of origin and associated travel times at Sponsor’s discretion) for the Finalist and, if applicable, all Team Members (and his/her parent or legal guardian, if Finalist or Team Member is a minor) to Mountain View, CA, USA for the opportunity to participate in the final Winner Selection Event, on or about July 15, 2012. Exact dates of the trip will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The date, time, and location of the Winner Selection Event may also be changed at the sole discretion of the Sponsor, and Finalists/Team Members and parent/guardian escort(s) (if required) may be required to travel on fifteen (15) days or less notice. If a Finalist/Team Member cannot travel during the travel dates that are selected by the Sponsor, then that Finalist or Team shall be deemed to have forfeited their prize and an alternate Finalist may be chosen by the Sponsor, using the judging procedure outlined above, in their sole discretion. Trip amenities include round-trip economy air transportation for each Finalist/Team Member (and one (1) parent/legal guardian for each, if a minor) from a major gateway city airport located nearest to the Finalist’s/Team Member’s home (in the sole discretion of the Sponsor) to Mountain View, CA, USA (if any Finalist/Team Member lives within a two hundred (200) mile radius of Mountain View, CA, ground transportation may be provided at the Sponsor’s discretion and no compensation or substitution will be provided in lieu thereof); round-trip ground transportation in Mountain View, CA to hotel/airport via private car/van/bus, as determined by Sponsor (if a Finalist/Team Member is not eligible for air transportation, round-trip airport-to-hotel transportation will not be provided); standard hotel accommodations at a hotel of Sponsor’s choice (one room (1), single or double occupancy, as determined by Sponsor) and round-trip ground transportation to/from hotel and related events and the Winner Selection Event. All costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided, including, without limitation, all federal, state, local, county, provincial and other taxes (including income and withholding taxes), luggage fees, travel documents, insurance, meals, incidentals, in-room charges, telephone calls, beverages, gratuities, and any other expenses not specified in these Official Rules are the sole responsibility of the Finalists/Team Members. Actual value may vary based on city of origin. Specific travel arrangements will be made by agent of the Sponsor. Sponsor and agents of the Sponsor retain sole discretion for the selection of departing airport, destination airport, airline carrier, flight times and destination hotel. Released Parties are not liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of flight cancellation/delay. Finalists/Team Members and parent/guardian Travel Companion (if applicable) must travel together on the same itinerary and are responsible for obtaining all required travel documents (e.g., acceptable photo ID, passport, visa, etc.) and any required (or optional) insurance (health, travel, etc.) prior to travel. Prizes may be forfeited if: (a) proper travel documents for any and all travel are unattainable for any reason within the time required by the Sponsor; (b) the Finalist/Team Member did not have the unqualified right, at the time of being selected, to re-enter his/her country of origin after leaving the country; or (c) if any immigration or travel documentation complications arise which prohibit a Finalist or Team Member and/or their parent/guardian escort from entering the United States. In the latter event, the Finalist/Team Member, parent or guardian as the case may be, will be solely responsible for arranging and paying for travel back to their point of origin. Each of the Finalists/Team Members is solely responsible for determining and complying with all applicable international/domestic travel procedures and restrictions. Finalists/Team Members must comply with all hotel check-in requirements, including but not limited to the presentation of a major credit card. Specifics of this travel package are subject to availability and remain solely at the discretion of the Sponsor. Complete terms and conditions of trip will be furnished with notification. Travel must be made through the Sponsor’s agent on a carrier of Sponsor’s choice. Reservations are subject to availability. Travel restrictions and blackout dates may apply. If any Finalist/Team Member is unable to attend the Winner Selection Event for any reason, no compensation or substitution will be provided in lieu thereof and Competition Entities will have no further obligation to such Finalist/Team Member.
General Prize Conditions (For All Prizes): The prizes are not transferable, assignable or redeemable for cash except at Sponsor’s sole discretion in which case a prize of comparable or greater value will be awarded. All federal, state, country, provincial and other tax liabilities (including income and withholding taxes) and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the responsibility of the Competition Winners. Each Competition Winner who is a legal resident of the United States will be issued a 1099 for the actual value of his/her prize. Total possible ARV of all prizes: US$287,000. Prizes will be awarded on or about July 1, 2012. All details of any prize not specified herein are at the Sponsor’s sole discretion and complete terms and conditions of prizes will be disclosed to the winner at time of prize award.
Prize Conditions for Minors: If any Competition Prize Winner is a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian, who will be responsible for fulfilling all requirements imposed on winners set forth herein; however, the Competition Prize Winner, and not his/her parent or legal guardian, will participate in the activities outlined below. If a Competition Prize Winner is a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence and he/she is required to travel as part of his/her prize, he/she must be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian (“Travel Companion”). Winners (and Travel Companions) must execute and return a Travel Companion Liability Release, and a Travel Companion Publicity Release (unless prohibited by applicable law) (collectively, the "Travel Companion Release Forms") prior to issuance of travel documents. Travel Companions must be of legal age of majority in their jurisdictions of residence. Failure to return Travel Companion Release Forms in a timely manner may prevent potential Competition Prize Winner (and his/her parent or legal guardian) from participating in the trip.
10. Ownership of Entry/Grant of Rights:
You will retain ownership to your Entry. However, by entering the Competition, and to the extent allowed by law, you grant the Competition Entities and their respective affiliates, licensees, promotional partners, developers, legal representatives, assigns, agents and licensees (collectively, the “Licensed Parties”), a perpetual (except in France and Spain, for the duration of rights), worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub licensable, unconditional and transferable license to edit, modify, cut, rearrange, add to, delete from, reproduce, encode, store, modify, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse (without limitation as to when or to the number of times used), your (or your Team’s) Entry, name, address, image, voice, likeness, statements, background and biographical material including, but not limited to, all materials submitted in connection with the Competition, as well as any additional photographic images, video images, portraits, documents, interviews or other materials arising out of your participation in this Competition (with or without using your name) in any and all media, in any language, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation to Entrant or any third party. For Polish residents, the worldwide license is being granted at the moment of the Entry is submitted for the Competition, for the non-revocable period of five (5) years without a right of termination. Any Competition Winners’ participation in the Winner Selection Event and any associated audio or video recordings, practices or other events associated with the Winner Selection Event shall be owned by Google Inc. who may exploit, edit, modify, and distribute the Winner Selection Event performance and all elements of such participation, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons or locations embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in any language, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation to Competition Winners or any third party. In the case where the Entrant is a minor in Spain, any of the above rights and permissions must be granted by the Entrant’s parent or legal guardian and notified to the Ministerio Fiscal.
If you are a minor in Spain, the above license must be granted your parent or legal guardian, unless you are between 16 and 18 years old and lives independently in accordance with the provisions of Article 44 of the current Spanish Copyright Law. You may be asked to submit your original video, presentation files, entry materials, research documentation, works cited, or other documentation/materials deemed necessary by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
11. Limitations of Liability:
Except where prohibited by law and to the extent that the negative consequences described below are the foreseeable result of matters within the Released Parties’ reasonable control and are the direct consequence of negligence or default by any of them, the Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate entry of information, human error, technical malfunction, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failure of any telephone, computer or other network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof, inability to access the Google Site, for the inability to upload or download any Competition-related materials from the Google Site, or for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, delayed, garbled, incorrect inaccurate, stolen, damaged, or incomplete Entries or votes.
YOU ACCEPT THE CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES, AGREES TO BE BOUND BY THE DECISIONS OF THE COMPETITION ENTITIES, WITHOUT PREJUDICE OF ANY CLAIM THAT COULD BE FILED BEFORE THE COURTS, WARRANT THAT YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION, AND AGREE EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT THAT ANY PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH IS CAUSED BY THE RELEASED PARTIES' NEGLIGENCE AND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW THAT THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CLAIMS, LOSSES, LIABILITY, AND DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES AND EXPENSES), ASSERTED AGAINST ANY OF THEM, INCURRED, SUSTAINED, OR ARISING IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE, ACCEPTANCE, OR MISUSE OF ANY ENTRY MATERIAL, OR WHILE PREPARING FOR, PARTICIPATING IN, AND/OR TRAVELING TO OR FROM ANY COMPETITION-RELATED ACTIVITY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, DEATH, LOSS, OR ACCIDENT TO PERSON OR PROPERTY, OR FROM THE RESPECTIVE ENTRANT'S BREACH OF ANY AGREEMENT OR WARRANTY ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMPETITION, INCLUDING THESE OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES. ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE COMPETITION IS A VIOLATION OF THE LAW AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE COMPETITION ENTITIES AND EACH OF THEIR LICENSEES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SUCH ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. NOTWITHSTANDING THE REVIEW OF ANY ENTRY BY THE COMPETITION ADMINISTRATOR, YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO BEAR SOLE LIABILITY FOR THE CONTENTS OF YOUR ENTRY AND AGREE TO REIMBURSE THE RELEASED PARTIES FOR ANY DAMAGES AND/OR COSTS INCURRED AS A RESULT OF A THIRD PARTY’S CLAIM OR DEMAND RELATING TO THE CONTENT OF YOUR ENTRY. PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 1229 OF THE ITALIAN CIVIL CODE, THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY WILL NOT BE VALID AND EFFECTIVE FOR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE INTENTIONAL MISCONDUCT OR GROSS NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASED PARTIES.
12. General Conditions:
The Competition Entities’ and Judging Panel’s decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Competition, including interpretation and application of these Official Rules (without prejudice of any claim that could be filed before the Court). Potential Finalists and Potential Winners and/or their parents or guardians may be contacted by Competition Entities via email. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an Entrant based on an email address, the Entry in question may be disqualified subject to the Competition Entities’ sole discretion. The Competition Entities reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found tampering with the entry process or entry materials or otherwise interfering with the proper administration of the Competition or violating these Official Rules and void all associated Entries and/or votes. The Competition Entities may cancel, modify, or suspend the Competition (or portion thereof) due to a force majeure event or any other event beyond the Competition Entities’ reasonable control. In the event of termination, subject to the approval of the RACJ in Quebec, Competition Administrator reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine the Finalists, Alternates and/or Competition Winners (as applicable) from among all non-suspect, eligible Entries received up to time of such action using the judging procedure set forth herein. You hereby acknowledge and agree that the relationship between you and the Competition Entities is not a confidential, fiduciary, exclusive or other special relationship, and your decision to submit an Entry in connection with this Competition does not place the Competition Entities in a position that is any different from the position held by members of the general public with regard to elements of the Entry, other than as set forth in these Official Rules.
13. Similar Ideas:
You understand and acknowledge that: i) Competition Entities have wide access to ideas, stories, designs, film, tape, video, and other materials, and those new ideas are constantly being submitted to it or being developed by their own employees; ii) many ideas or stories may be competitive with, similar to, or identical to content in your Entry and/or each other in theme, idea, plot, format, or other respects; iii) You will not be entitled to any compensation as a result of Competition Entities' use of any such similar or identical material that has or may come to Competition Entities, or any of them, from other sources. Except where prohibited by law you acknowledge and agree that the Released Entities do not now and shall not have in the future any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of your copyright in and to the Entries. Finally, you acknowledges that, with respect to any claim of yours relating to or arising out of any Competition Entities' actual or alleged exploitation or use of any Entry or other material submitted in connection with the Competition, the damage, if any, thereby caused to you will not be irreparable or otherwise sufficient to entitle you to seek any injunctive or other equitable relief or in any way enjoin, otherwise interfere with, delay, or interrupt the production, distribution, exhibition, or other exploitation of any production based on, or allegedly based on, your Entry, and your rights and remedies in any such event shall be strictly limited to the right to recover damages, if any, in an action at law.
14. Personal Data:
Your Personal information will be used in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy located online at http://www.google.com/intl/en/privacy.html and in addition as otherwise set out in these Official Rules for the purpose of administering this Competition. You expressly agree to the use of your person information for such purpose. Sponsor will not sell, share or otherwise disclose information collected in any manner with third parties, other than those parties necessary to fulfill the above purposes, unless you have given your prior express consent to receive additional information from Sponsor or a third party. You have a right of access to, modification and withdrawal of your personal data. You also have the right of opposition to the data collection, under certain circumstances, in accordance with applicable law. To exercise such right, write to Google Inc., Attn: Google Science Fair 2012, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043. The data controller and data recipient is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043. For European Union residents, please note that Entrants’ data will be transferred outside the European Union to the following countries: the United States, Australia, and other countries which do not provide an adequate level of protection according to EU data protection regulations, for the purpose of administering this Competition. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and these Official Rules in respect of such transfer. By entering the Competition, you expressly agree to such transfer.
15. Choice of Law:
Unless the laws relevant for the domicile of the Registered User provide otherwise, this Competition is governed by United States law and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Except where prohibited by law, any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with this Competition must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the County of Santa Clara, in the State of California.
16. Country Specific Notices:
If any provision of these rules is invalid under the law, rules or regulations of a particular country, it will only apply to the extent permitted. In addition to the tax liability disclosures in these rules, Competition Winners are subject to abide by the income reporting and, if applicable, the payment of any taxes due per the laws, rules and regulations of the winners’ country of residence.
For Canada:
For Quebec, Canada residents only, all legal requirements concerning the La Regie des Alcools des Courses et des Jeux (the “Regie”) shall apply. If a Competition Winner is from Canada he or she may be required in writing to assign any copyright to the applicable Competition Entity.
Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Regie for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Regie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
For Mexico:
If you are from Mexico, by entering the Competition, you hereby expressly agree and accept that for all that is related to the interpretation, performance and enforcement of this Official Rules, each of them expressly submit themselves to the laws of the United States of America and to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in the County of Santa Clara, in the State of California, United States of America, expressly waiving to any other jurisdiction that could correspond to them by virtue of their present or future domicile or by virtue of any other cause.
For Germany:
Nothing shall exclude your liability as well as the liability of the Competition Entities for damages to life, body and health and for intent, gross negligence and fraudulent concealment of defects or breach of any guaranteed quality (“Beschaffenheitsgarantie”). In cases of slight negligence, you and THE COMPETITON ENTITIES are only liable for the breach of cardinal obligations (“Kardinalpflichten” meaning those obligations which must be fulfilled for an orderly performance of the contract and those obligations where the parties regularly rely on the performance of the other party); In these cases, the liability is restricted to any loss or damage which was reasonably foreseeable at the time THIS CONTRACT COMING into effect.
Right to Withdraw for Legal Residents of Italy:
If you are a consumer, according to Article 64 of the Italian Consumer Code, you will be entitled to a period of ten (10) business days to withdraw you Entry into a Competition without any penalty or cause. 2. 대회 진행 주체:

3. 자격:

2011년 Google 과학 경시 대회의 결선 참가자가 전년도와 동일한 연령 그룹에 속한 경우 경쟁 자격을 박탈 당할 수 있습니다.
미성년자 – 부모 및 보호자: 자신의 거주 관할권에서 미성년자인 참가자의 부모 또는 법적 보호자(규정 4에 명시함)는 (a) 본 공식 규정에 동의하는 해당 참가자가 본 공식 규정을 준수하도록
하며 (b) 참가자가 본 공식 규정에 동의하고 여기에 명시된 내용에 동의할 수 있음을 보증해야

또는 (법적 또는 실제) 동거인은 본 대회에 참가 또는 그 외 달리 참여할 수 있는 자격을 갖지 못합니다.
4. 일반 대회 참가 방법:
1개의 참가작을 개인 또는 최대 3인으로 구성된 그룹의 일원으로서 제출할 수 있습니다('팀' 및
'팀원'). 대회에 개인 또는 팀의 일원으로 참가한 경우(각 '참가자' 또는 '귀하') 먼저 대회에
등록(해당되는 경우, 팀 리더 지명 및 모든 팀원 정보 제공을 포함)해야 하며 본 공식 규정 및 대회 사이트(참조를 위해 여기에 포함됨)에 명시된 기술적, 창의적 및 법적 요건을 따르는 과학
프로젝트('프로젝트')를 제출('참가작')해야 합니다. 참가작은 참가작 공개 모집 기간 중에

참가자, 팀 리더 또는 팀 구성원으로서 1회의 작품 제출에만 참여할 수 있습니다. 여러 작품 제출에 참여하는 경우 첫 번째로 제출한 작품만 심사되고 나머지 모든 작품은 실격 처리됩니다. 본 대회 사이트에 제공된 안내 및 공식 규정을 따르지 않고 제출한 작품은 대회 진행 주체의 단독 재량으로
실격 처리될 수 있습니다.
Google은 등록 시 제출한 정보를 기반으로 지역 및 연령 그룹을 할당합니다. 지역은 미주, 유럽과
중동 및 아시아 태평양으로 지정됩니다.
5. 특별 카테고리: 과학 실천(Science in Action) 상: Scientific American은 사회, 환경, 윤리, 보건 또는 복지 문제를 해결하여 그룹 또는 커뮤니티의 생활을 실질적으로 변화시키는 프로젝트에 수여하게 될 상(자세한 시상 내역은 규정 9 참조)을 후원합니다.
6. 일반적인 참가작 요구사항:
기술 요구사항:
a. Google 사이트 도구를 사용하여 프로젝트를 제출해야 합니다. Google 사이트 도구에 로그인하고 만드는 방법에 관한 안내는 다음 페이지에 나와 있습니다.

b. 프로젝트 시놉시스 동영상: 길이는 2분이어야 합니다. 동영상의 길이가 2분 이상이면 처음
2분간만 심사됩니다.
c. 프로젝트 시놉시스 프리젠테이션: 슬라이드쇼 프리젠테이션의 길이는 슬라이드 20장을 넘으면 안 됩니다. 프리젠테이션의 슬라이드가 20장을 넘으면 처음 20장의 슬라이드만 심사됩니다. 슬라이드쇼는 Google 문서도구 프리젠테이션으로 작성해야 합니다.
d. 언어: 영어, 독일어, 이탈리아어, 스페인어, 프랑스어, 아랍어, 히브리어, 폴란드어, 일본어,
러시아어, 네덜란드어, 한국어, 중국어(간체 또는 번체) 중 하나로 제출하는 것이 좋습니다.
그러나 영어를 사용하는 심사위원을 위한 영어 번역본/스크립트를 추가로 제공할 경우 원하는 언어로 작품을 제출할 수 있습니다. 제출에 사용된 언어는 작품의 우승 기회에
전혀 영향을 미치지 않습니다.
e. 형식: 대회 사이트에 명시된 요구사항에 맞도록 Google 사이트 도구에서 만들어 작품을 제출해야 합니다.
추가 참가작 제한사항:
인간 실험 대상, 인간 데이터 또는 인간 테스트를 포함하는 프로젝트는 다음으로 제한됩니다.
f. 기존의 공개된 자료로부터 데이터 사용
g. 제한되지 않고 공개된 설정에서 관찰하여 얻은 행동 데이터 사용
h. 익명/신원 관련 정보를 제외한 형식으로 수신 및 기록된 데이터 사용
i. 개인 데이터를 수집하지 않고 건강 위험을 초래하지 않는 실험
동물 실험 대상 또는 동물 데이터를 포함하는 프로젝트는 다음과 같이 제한됩니다.
j. 기존의 공개된 자료로부터 데이터 사용
k. 자연 환경에 있는 동물을 포함하는 관찰 또는 행동 프로젝트의 데이터 사용
생물학 작용제 실험 대상, 생물학 작용제 데이터 또는 생물학적 테스트를 포함하는 프로젝트는 다음으로 제한됩니다.
l. 기존의 공개된 자료로부터 데이터 사용
m. 예외 카테고리에 포함된 작용제만 사용할 수 있습니다. 예외 카테고리는 다음과 같습니다.
■ 제빵사의 효모와 양조장의 효모(DNA 연구에 포함되는 경우 제외)
■ 자연 환경에 도입된 젖산균, 바실로스균, 질소 고정, 기름 먹는 박테리아, 점균류 및 해조류 먹는 박테리아(오염될 수 있는 페트리 배양 접시 환경에서 배양된

■ 식재료에서의 균류 성장 조사(균류에 대한 첫 번째 증거가 확인되면 실험 종료)
n. 조직은 다음과 같은 경우로 사용이 제한됩니다.

획득). 연구 계획에 배양체의 출처 및 카탈로그 번호 명시
■ 식료품점, 식당 또는 식품 가공 공장에서 구입한 육류 또는 육류 부산물

■ 혈액 매개 병원균을 죽이기 위해 살균한 치아. 섭씨 121도에서 20분 동안 화학

어떠한 경우에도 위험한 화학 물질은 프로젝트에서 사용하거나 취급할 수 없습니다.
7. 참가 약관:
본 대회에 참가함으로써 Google이 현지화된 국가에 거주하는 경우 현지화된 버전의 Google 사이트 도구와 관련된 Google 서비스 약관(http://www.google.com/accounts/TOS?hl=ko) 및 개인정보취급방침(http://www.google.com/intl/ko/privacypolicy.html)을 준수할 것에 동의하는 것입니다. 두 문서 모두 참조를 통해 본 공식 규정에 포함됩니다. Gmail, Google 사이트 도구, YouTube 또는 기타 다른 Google 자산의 사용은 이러한 사용에 적용되는 각 해당 사이트의 서비스 약관을 따르며 참가자는 이러한 약관을 모두 준수할 것에 동의합니다. 대회 관리자의 단독 재량에 따라 본 공식 규정을 준수하는 90명의 지역 결선 참가자와 과학
실천(Science in Action) 상 수상자('적격 참가자')를 대회 사이트에 게시합니다. 대회 진행 주체의
단독 재량으로 본 공식 규정을 준수하지 않는다고 판단되는 참가자는 대회에서 실격 처리되어
대회 사이트에 표시되지 않습니다. 귀하는 아래 정의된 면책 당사자가 제3자의 참가작 무단 사용에 책임을 지지 않는 것에 동의합니다. 대회 진행 주체는 참가작의 게시를 보장하지 않습니다.
책임의 기술적 제한: 법률에서 허용되는 범위 내에서 대회 진행 주체나 해당하는 모회사, 자회사, 제휴사, 광고 및 프로모션 대행사, 법률 및 재정 고문 등 본 대회와 관련된 모든 회사 또는 본 공식 규정이 게시된 후 대회에 참가하여 대회 사이트에 추가될 수 있는 기타 단체와 그들의 각 임원,

깨짐, 전송되지 않음 또는 미완에 대한 책임이 없습니다. 본 공식 규정에서 Google 사이트 도구 서버가 대회 사이트에 업로드된 프로젝트 및 필수 참가작 정보를 성공적으로 수령하는 경우
참가작 수령이 발생합니다. 대회 기간 중 수집된 참가작/참가자 정보는 참가자가 참가 시 제공한 동의서 및 본 공식 규정(특히 앞에 언급된 Google의 개인정보취급방침 포함)을 준수하는
방식으로만 사용됩니다.
8. 지역 결선 참가자, 과학 실천(Science in Action) 상 수상자 및 최우수상 수상자를 결정하는 심사:
아래의 참가 요구사항 및 기준은 본 공식 규정의 목적상 '기준'으로 총칭합니다. 스폰서의 담당자로 구성된 패널('심사위원단' 또는 '심사위원')이 적격 참가작을 평가하는 방식 및 절차를 단독
재량으로 결정합니다.
a. 자기 소개
과학에 대한 깊은 열정을 표현하고 아이디어를 자신감 있고 명확하게 열정적으로 발표하며 수상을 원하는 이유를 잘 설명하는 참가자/팀일수록 우수하게 평가됩니다.
b. 질문
흥미 있고 독창적이며 과학적으로 표현되었고 오늘날의 세계와 관련이 있는 질문일수록 좋습니다.
c. 가설
질문과의 연장선상에 있고 핵심이 명확하며, 기존 지식을 바탕으로 하는 가설일수록 우수하게 평가됩니다.
d. 연구조사 및 인용 자료
질문과 가설을 설정하는 데 도움을 얻고, 현실과 실험의 관련성을 높이기 위해 관련 자료를 조사 및 연구하는 참가자/팀일수록 우수하게 평가됩니다.
e. 실험
우수한 실험 방법을 사용했음을 증명하고 실험에 대해 명확하고 자세하게 설명하는 참가자/팀일수록 우수하게 평가됩니다.
f. 데이터
관련성이 높고 결론을 뒷받침하기에 충분하며 정확하고 정밀하게 기록되고 명확하게 제시된 데이터일수록 우수하게 평가됩니다.
g. 관찰
데이터가 보여주는 패턴이나 동향을 잘 설명할수록 우수하게 평가됩니다. h. 결론
실험을 통해 질문에 대한 답을 어떻게 찾을 수 있었는지 또는 답을 찾지 못한 이유를 설명하고, 가설이 증명되었는지 여부를 잘 설명할수록 우수한 결론입니다.
i. 참고문헌, 참조 및 사사
도움을 얻거나 참조한 정보를 밝히고 그 출처를 명료하게 제시하며, 장비 및 자료
섭외, 안전 유지, 잘 모르는 장비 또는 기술 사용 등을 위해 도움을 받은 사실을 밝히는 참가자/팀일수록 높게 평가됩니다.
지역 결선 참가자 결정: 심사위원단은 다음 기준에 따라 채점하여 제출된 모든 적격 참가작을 검토하고 순위를 결정합니다.

위에 열거한 기준에 따라 최종 우승자를 선정합니다.

있습니다. 결선 참가자/팀원이 어떠한 이유로 결선 이벤트에 참여할 수 없는 경우 이를 대신하여
보상 또는 대체물이 제공되지 않으며 대회 진행 주체는 이러한 결선 참가자/팀원에게 더 이상의 의무를 지지 않습니다.
일반 수상 조건(모든 상에 해당): 스폰서 단독 재량으로 동급 또는 그 이상의 가치를 가진 부상이 수여되는 경우를 제외하고 상은 양도할 수 없으며 현금으로 대체할 수 없습니다. 모든 연방, 주,

10.참가작 소유권/권한 부여:
귀하는 참가작에 대한 소유권을 보유합니다. 그러나 대회에 참가함으로써 법률상 허용되는 범위 내에서 대회 진행 주체나 관련 제휴사, 라이선스 수혜자, 프로모션 파트너, 개발자, 법정 대리인, 양수인, 대리인('라이선스 당사자'로 총칭)에게 귀하 또는 팀의 참가작, 이름, 주소, 이미지, 음성,
초상, 진술, 배경 및 약력 자료(모든 미디어와 모든 언어로 전 세계에 모든 방식으로 본 대회에 관련하여 제출한 모든 자료 및 추가 사진 이미지, 비디오 이미지, 초상, 문서, 인터뷰 또는 본 대회
참가로부터 파생된 기타 자료(참가자 이름의 사용 여부에 관계없이)를 포함하지만 이에 국한하지
않음)를 매매, 광고, 홍보, 이익 창출 등의 용도로, 추가 검토, 알림, 승인, 고려 또는 참가자나 제3자에 대한 보상 없이 편집, 수정, 절단, 재정리, 첨가, 삭제, 복제, 인코딩, 저장, 복사, 전송, 발행,
게시, 방송, 표시, 각색, 전시 및/또는 그 외 사용 또는 재사용(사용 시간 또는 사용 횟수에 관한 제한
없음)할 수 있는 영구적(프랑스와 스페인 제외. 권리의 지속 시간 동안)이고 전 세계적이며 비독점적이고 재허가 가능하며 무조건적이며 양도 가능한 무료 라이선스를 부여합니다. 폴란드
거주자의 경우 참가작을 대회에 제출할 때 해지 권한 없이 5년간 취소할 수 없는 전 세계적인 라이선스가 부여됩니다. 대회 우승자의 결선 이벤트 참여와 결선 이벤트와 관련된 오디오 또는 동영상 기록, 사례 또는 기타 이벤트는 Google Inc.가 소유합니다. Google은 결선 이벤트 공연과
이러한 참가의 모든 요소(여기에 포함된 모든 사람이나 위치의 이름 및 초상을 포함하되 여기에 국한되지 않음)를 현재 알려진 모든 미디어나 앞으로 고안될 모든 미디어를 통해 전 세계적으로

원본 동영상, 프리젠테이션 파일, 참가 자료, 연구조사 문서, 인용 자료 또는 스폰서의 단독 재량으로 필요하다고 간주되는 기타 문서/자료를 제출해야 할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 하지 못하면
자격이 상실될 수 있습니다.
11.책임 제한:
법적으로 금지된 경우와 아래에 설명한 부정적인 결과가 면책 당사자들의 합리적인 통제 내에서
예측 가능한 사안의 결과이고 이들의 과실 또는 불이행의 직접적인 결과인 경우를 제외하고 면책 당사자는 잘못되거나 부정확한 정보의 입력, 과오, 기술적 오작동, 데이터 전송의 누락/지연, 생략,
방해, 삭제, 결함과 전화, 컴퓨터 또는 다른 네트워크, 컴퓨터 장비, 소프트웨어 또는 그 조합의
연결 실패, Google 사이트 도구 액세스 불능, 참가작 업로드 또는 Google 사이트 도구 또는 대회 사이트에서의 대회 관련 자료 다운로드와 관련한 문제 또는 참가작 또는 기타 자료의 지연, 손실,
도난, 손상, 오용, 잘못됨, 깨짐, 전송되지 않음 또는 미완에 대한 책임이 없습니다.
귀하는 본 공식 대회 규정에 명시된 약관에 동의하고 법원에 제기할 수 있는 권리 주장에 대한
침해 없이 대회 운영 주체의 결정에 구속됨에 동의하며, 면책 당사자의 태만으로 인한 개인 상해
또는 사망의 경우를 제외하고 적용 가능한 법이 허용하는 한도 내에서 면책 당사자가 상해, 손해,
사망, 손실, 개인 또는 재산에 대한 사고를 포함하여(이에 제한되지 않음) 모든 참가 자료의 활용,
수락, 오용 또는 경연 대회 관련 활동(작품 제작을 포함하며 이에 제한되지 않음)의 준비, 참여 및/또는 여행 또는 본 공식 대회 규정을 포함하여 본 대회와 연관된 계약 또는 보증의 불이행으로
인한 모든 권리 주장, 손실, 채무, 피해(합당한 변호사 수임료 및 지출 포함)에 대한 책임이 없음에
동의합니다. 고의로 웹사이트를 손상시키거나 대회의 올바른 진행을 방해하려는 시도는 형법 및 민법을 위반하며 이러한 행위가 있을 경우 대회 진행 주체 및 각 라이선스 수혜자는 법률상
허용하는 최대 수준으로 이에 대한 책임이 있는 당사자로부터 보상(변호사 수임료 포함)을 촉구할
수 있는 권리를 보유합니다. 대회 관리자에 의한 동영상 검토에도 불구하고 귀하는 참가작 내용에
대해 단독 책임이 있음을 이해하고 동의하며 참가작 내용과 관련한 제3자 주장의 결과로 발생하는
손해 및/또는 비용으로부터 면책 당사자를 면책함에 동의합니다. 이탈리아의 민법 1229조와 관련하여 면책 당사자의 의도적인 위법행위 또는 중과실로부터 초래된 손상에 대해서는 책임
제한이 유효하지 않습니다.
12.일반 조건:
본 공식 규정의 해석 및 적용을 포함하여 대회 진행 주체 및 심사위원단의 결정은 본 대회에 관련된
모든 문제에 대해 최종적이며 구속력을 갖습니다(법원에 제기할 수 있는 모든 권리 주장을 침해하지 않음). 결선 참가 후보자 및 우승 후보자 및/또는 이들의 부모나 보호자에게 대회 진행 주체가 이메일을 통해 연락할 수 있습니다. 이메일 주소를 기반으로 참가자 신원과 관련된 이의가 제기되는 경우 문제의 참가작은 대회 진행 주체의 단독 재량에 따라 실격 처리될 수 있습니다. 대회
진행 주체는 단독 재량에 따라 참가 프로세스나 참가 자료를 불법적으로 고치거나 대회의 적절한 관리를 방해하거나 본 공식 규정을 위반하는 것으로 판명된 개인을 실격 처리하고 관련 참가작 및/또는 투표를 모두 무효 처리할 권리를 보유합니다. 대회 진행 주체는 불가항력 사건 또는 적절히
제어하기 어려운 기타 사건으로 인해 본 대회 또는 그 일부를 취소, 수정 또는 유보할 수 있습니다.
대회 관리자는 계약이 해지될 경우 단독 재량으로 (및 퀘벡주에 있는 RACJ의 승인 하에) 그러한
조치 시까지 수령한 모든 적격 참가작 중에서 여기 명기된 심사 절차를 사용하여 결선 참가자, 대체
작품 및 대회 우승자를 선정할 권리를 보유합니다. 귀하는 자신과 대회 진행 주체의 관계가 기밀의,
신탁의, 독점적인 또는 기타 특별한 관계가 아님을 인정하고 이에 동의하며 참가작을 제출하는 귀하의 결정이 본 공식 규정에서 규정하는 바를 제외하고 참가작의 요소와 관련하여 일반 대중과
다를 것이 없음을 인정하고 동의합니다.
13.유사한 아이디어:
귀하는 i) 대회 진행 주체는 아이디어, 이야기, 설계, 필름, 테이프, 비디오 및 기타 자료에 폭넓게 액세스할 수 있으며 이러한 새 아이디어는 지속적으로 제출되거나 직원에 의해 개발되고 있고, ii)
여러 아이디어나 이야기가 서로 경쟁하고, 참가작의 콘텐츠가 테마, 아이디어, 플롯, 형식 등에서
서로 유사하거나 동일하고, iii) 대회 진행 주체가 대회에 제출되거나 다른 출처에서 얻은 이러한 유사하거나 동일한 자료를 이용한 것으로 인해 보상을 받을 수 없다는 것을 이해하고 인식합니다.
법적으로 금지한 경우를 제외하고 귀하는 면책 당사자가 참가작에 대한 참가자 저작권의 침해 및
보호와 관련하여 직접 또는 간접, 대리, 기여 또는 그 외 방식으로 어떠한 의무나 책임을 현재 및 미래에 책임을 지지 않는다는 것을 인정하고 이에 동의합니다. 마지막으로 귀하는 대회와 관련하여 제출된 참가작 또는 기타 자료에 대한 대회 진행 주체의 실제 또는 알려진 활용 또는 사용에 관련되거나 그로부터 야기된 권리 주장과 관련하여 이에 따라 참가자가 입은 손상은 회복할 수 없을 것이며 또는 그 외 달리 참가자는 금지명령 또는 기타 공평한 구제를 강구하거나, 그 외 달리 참가작에 기초한, 기초한다고 알려진, 제작물의 생산, 배포, 전시, 또는 기타 활용에
대해 명령을 하거나 간섭, 지연 또는 방해할 수 있는 자격이 없으며, 이러한 경우에 참가자의 권리 및 해결책은 법적 조치에 따라 손상을 복구할 권리로 엄격히 제한된다는 것을 인정합니다.

16.국가별 통지:

위반(“Beschaffenheitsgarantie”)에 대해 귀하의 책임 및 대회 진행 주체의 책임을 배제하면 안 됩니다. 부주의가 심하지 않은 경우 귀하 및 대회 진행 주체는 기본 의무('Kardinalpflichten') 즉,
계약의 일목요연한 수행을 위해 이행해야 하는 의무 및 당사자가 다른 당사자의 수행을

이탈리아의 합법적 거주자를 위한 취소 권한
귀하가 소비자인 경우 이탈리아 소비자 법 64조에 따라 10일 전까지(영업일 기준) 처벌이나 소송
없이 대회 참가를 취소할 수 있습니다. 취소 권리를 행사할 수 있는 기간은 참가일로부터 10일
내에 참가자의 취소 의사를 진술하는 편지를 [email protected]에 이메일로 발송함으로써 이행될 수 있습니다(그 후 수신 확인 인증 이메일이 48시간 이내에 발송될 경우)
17.대회 수상자 목록:
2012년 7월 23일경 대회 우승자 이름이 대회 사이트에 게시됩니다. 또한 본 정보를 2012년 9월
15일에 수령하기 위해 반송 주소가 명확하게 표기된 우편엽서를 다음 주소로 보낼 수도 있습니다.
