A former Navy brat, habituated to the nomadic lifestyle, I've visited a total of 17 countries thus far and lived in 5. Born in the U.S., and just recently returned after a nearly 5-year absence, I lived 3.5 years in Puerto Rico, 14 months in Costa Rica, 3.75 years in Taiwan, and 7 months in France. Through my travels I've come to appreciate how much more people are alike than they are different. Learning their languages has been a big part of that. My native language is English. As a tour guide, I also work in Spanish, French, and Portuguese. I am conversant in Mandarin Chinese, but I can't read or write it.
I would like to become an interpreter working in Spanish, French, and (one day) Portuguese. I'd like to specialize in health and environmental science issues. To that end, I'm currently researching Master degree programs in France and Mexico. I hold a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, with a concentration in Latin American Studies. |
