Born in Manchester, England, Julian Evans studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with John Wilson and the late Polish pianist Ryszard Bakst. He later worked with Maria Curcio in London and Aline Gualino in Germany. In 1984 he became the youngest-ever winner of the Dudley International Piano Competition, which launched his international career, comprising of over 100 concerts a year. Following his London debut at the Wigmore Hall, Malcolm Hayes of the London Times reported: "let us welcome a remarkable and intensely musical talent."

Now resident in Germany, he pursues an extensive career on the continent and has already appeared in all the major European venues including Berlin Philharmonie, Kongresshalle Lucerne, Riga Philharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Beethoven haus Bonn, Dresden Frauenkirche, Berlin Konzerthaus am Gendarnmarkt. In Great Britain he has appeared on numerous occasions performing concerts at the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, St. John's Square, Usher Hall (Edinburgh), Royal Concert Hall (Glasgow), Bridgewater Hall (Manchester):

His debut appearances in these halls elicited rave reviews from the press and public alike:
“One of the greatest Liszt players of his generation” Der Lanbote Switzerland April 1966.

His Alte Oper, Frankfurt Debut as part of the Simon Rattle Beethoven Symphony Series his rendering of the Liszt solo transcription of the Beethoven Eroica Symphony was hailed in the Frankfurter Rundschau (Newspaper) as:
“Phenomenal pianistic stamina, terse and succinct tempi, meticulous articulation and supreme execution that even Franz Liszt himself would have probably admired."

Ludwigsburg Festival Debut Recital June 1999.
Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung June 6 1999:
"Cries of bravo and stamping of feet were the thanks for an interpretation that made one realise why the public of the 19th century went berserk whenever Liszt himself appeared on the concert platform."

Berlin Konzerthaus debut. Scriabin recital October 2000.
Berlin Morgenpost October 9 2000:
"as a first class Scriabin interpreter Julian Evans made great impact. The subtle fluidity, together with the dizzying intensity of his shimmering sound-world... he has absolutely everything in pianistic terms, to offer serious competition to the present leading Scriabin interpreter Igor Shukov. He was accorded an enormous and justified standing ovation.”

Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. Debut recital April 2000.
Manchester evening news April 13 2000:
“It was a demonstration of his pianistic voice; absolute clarity, purity of style. His Rachmaninov Sonata no. 2 the (original version) revealed a superb cantabile sound”

Lucerne Piano Festival 2000 Kongresshalle. Opening recital November 2000
Südostschweiz November 23 2000
“A Veritable discovery for the piano world"

Bodensee festival Debut.
Rachmaninov 3rd piano concerto. Thurgauer Zeitung May 22 2001:
" Technically the complex solo part (Rachmaninov/ Piano Concerto 3) seemed to offer not the slightest difficulty for Julian Evans, the complete mastery and phenomenal tempo gave impressive proof of the tremendous physical, emotional and psychological stamina of this pianist of the future, who possesses such a modest and natural presence on stage.”
Since theses performances he has established himself as one of the most important pianistic talents today appearing regularly as soloist with all the important German orchestras – with a repertoire of over 40 piano concerti. Following concerts as soloist with the Darmstadt Symphony Orchestra the Frankfurt Allgemeine Newspaper wrote May 2005:
”In the demanding solo part he elicited and coaxed every imaginable colour out of his instrument dispatching the complex solo part with transcendental virtuosity and was awarded a stunning and sustained thunderous ovation.”

His frequent broadcasts for BBC Radio 3, German television and radio included a live broadcast of the Beethoven concertos with the Moscow Symphony orchestra and in October 2003 ESA the German Space Agency invited Julian Evans to give a rectal to coincide one hour prior to the launch of their rocket Smart 1, broadcast live by satellite world-wide. He was subsequently described in the English spectator magazine as “Human Genius.”
He is also rapidly becoming a prolific recording artist, and has recorded extensively for Hyperion records, La Vergne Classics and most recently for Organum Classics featuring may solo works and concertos of Rachmaninov, Ravel and Tchaikovsky. His debut Liszt recording for Organum Classics drew sensational reviews and in the February 2004 edition of the German CD magazine FONO FORUM the following was reported: “Staggering manual facility – taste and solidity of style, but above all he has powerfully reinforced that which he promised some years back – namely that he belongs to the very top echelons of the greatest pianists.”
In 2005/6 season he performed extensively in Europa, performing in Cannes Festival, Dresden, Leipzig, Hamburg and Munich, etc.
Hamburger Anzeiger September 2005:
“The incandescent breathtaking virtuoso thrilled his audience.”

Dieburger Schlosskonzerte, Darmstädter Echo March 2006.
“With solid elastic plasticity the technical problems of Stravinsky’s Petrouchka fell with an instinctive ease and skill as though there were child’s-play from his hands and magnificently conjured up every emotional aspect of the puppet’s character.”

In 2007 he toured England, Switzerland and returned to concertize in the German festivals.

Hohenlohe Kultur Sommer. Schönntal Festival: Hohenlohe Zeitung 03. 07.2007.
“The Ravel “Miroirs” Evans demonstrated masterly and in la Valse brought forth an emotional whirlwind”.

In addition to his solo appearances Julian Evans frequently appears in recital with the renowned baritone Bruno Caproni.

Sächsische Zeitung 30.07.2007.
“Under the motto “Una Notte Italiana” the two immensely sensitive artists who were perfectly in harmony together presented an absolute musical treat and were constantly rewarded with standing ovations.”

Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. Recital di debutto dell'aprile 2000.
Manchester evening news, 13 aprile 2000:

World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice

William J. Ripple, Christopher Wolf, Mauro Galetti, Thomas M Newsome, Mohammed Alamgir, Eileen Crist, Mahmoud I. Mahmoud, William F. Laurance,

And 15,364 scientist signatories from 184 countries

Twenty-five years ago, the Union of Concerned Scientists and more than 1700 independent scientists, including the majority of living Nobel laureates in the sciences, penned the 1992 "World Scientists' Warning to Humanity" (see supplemental file S1). These concerned professionals called on humankind to curtail environmental destruction and cautioned that "a great change in our stewardship of the Earth and the life on it is required, if vast human misery is to be avoided." In their manifesto, they showed that humans were on a collision course with the natural world. They expressed concern about current, impending, or potential damage on planet Earth involving ozone depletion, freshwater availability, marine life depletion, ocean dead zones, forest loss, biodiversity destruction, climate change, and continued human population growth. They proclaimed that fundamental changes were urgently needed to avoid the consequences our present course would bring.
The authors of the 1992 declaration feared that humanity was pushing Earth’s ecosystems beyond their capacities to support the web of life. They described how we are fast approaching many of the limits of what the biosphere can tolerate without substantial and irreversible harm. The scientists pleaded that we stabilize the human population, describing how our large numbers—swelled by another 2 billion people since 1992, a 35 percent increase—exert stresses on Earth that can overwhelm other efforts to realize a sustainable future (Crist et al. 2017). They implored that we cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and phase out fossil fuels, reduce deforestation, and reverse the trend of collapsing biodiversity.
On the twenty-fifth anniversary of their call, we look back at their warning and evaluate the human response by exploring available time-series data. Since 1992, with the exception of stabilizing the stratospheric ozone layer, humanity has failed to make sufficient progress in generally solving these foreseen environmental challenges, and alarmingly, most of them are getting far worse (figure 1, file S1). Especially troubling is the current trajectory of potentially catastrophic climate change due to rising GHGs from burning fossil fuels (Hansen et al. 2013), deforestation (Keenan et al. 2015), and agricultural production— particularly from farming ruminants for meat consumption (Ripple et al. 2014). Moreover, we have unleashed a mass extinction event, the sixth in roughly 540 million years, wherein many current life forms could be annihilated or at least committed to extinction by the end of this century.
Humanity is now being given a second notice, as illustrated by these alarming trends (figure 1). We are jeopardizing our future by not reining in our intense but geographically and demographically uneven material consumption and by not perceiving continued rapid population growth as a primary driver behind many ecological and even societal threats (Crist et al. 2017). By failing to adequately limit population growth, reassess the role of an economy rooted in growth, reduce greenhouse gases, incentivize renewable energy, protect habitat, restore ecosystems, curb pollution, halt defaunation, and constrain invasive alien species, humanity is not taking the urgent steps needed to safeguard our imperilled biosphere.
As most political leaders respond to pressure, scientists, media influencers, and lay citizens must insist that their governments take immediate action as a moral imperative to current and future generations of human and other life. With a groundswell of organized grassroots efforts, dogged opposition can be overcome and political leaders compelled to do the right thing. It is also time to re-examine and change our individual behaviors, including limiting our own reproduction (ideally to replacement level at most) and drastically diminishing our per capita consumption of fossil fuels, meat, and other resources.
The rapid global decline in ozone-depleting substances shows that we can make positive change when we act decisively. We have also made advancements in reducing extreme poverty and hunger (www.worldbank. org). Other notable progress (which does not yet show up in the global data sets in figure 1) include the rapid decline in fertility rates in many regions attributable to investments in girls' and women's education (www. un.org/esa/population), the promising decline in the rate of deforestation in some regions, and the rapid growth in the renewable-energy sector. We have learned much since 1992, but the advancement of urgently needed changes in environmental policy, human behavior, and global inequities is still far from sufficient.
Sustainability transitions come about in diverse ways, and all require civil-society pressure and evidence-based advocacy, political leadership, and a solid understanding of policy instruments, markets, and other drivers. Examples of diverse and effective steps humanity can take to transition to sustainability include the following (not in order of importance or urgency):
• prioritizing the enactment of connected well-funded and well-managed reserves for a significant proportion of the world’s terrestrial, marine, freshwater, and aerial habitats;
• maintaining nature's ecosystem services by halting the conversion of forests, grasslands, and other native habitats;
• restoring native plant communities at large scales, particularly forest landscapes;
• rewilding regions with native species, especially apex predators, to restore ecological processes and dynamics;
• developing and adopting adequate policy instruments to remedy defaunation, the poaching crisis, and the exploitation and trade of threatened species;
• reducing food waste through education and better infrastructure;
• promoting dietary shifts towards mostly plant-based foods;
• further reducing fertility rates by ensuring that women and men have access to education and voluntary family-planning services, especially where such resources are still lacking;
• increasing outdoor nature education for children, as well as the overall engagement of society in the appreciation of nature;
• divesting of monetary investments and purchases to encourage positive environmental change;
• devising and promoting new green technologies and massively adopting renewable energy sources while phasing out subsidies to energy production through fossil fuels;
• revising our economy to reduce wealth inequality and ensure that prices, taxation, and incentive systems take into account the real costs which consumption patterns impose on our environment; and
• estimating a scientifically defensible, sustainable human population size for the long term while rallying nations and leaders to support that vital goal.
To prevent widespread misery and catastrophic biodiversity loss, humanity must practice a more environmentally sustainable alternative to business as usual. This prescription was well articulated by the world's leading scientists 25 years ago, but in most respects, we have not heeded their warning. Soon it will be too late to shift course away from our failing trajectory, and time is running out. We must recognize, in our day-to-day lives and in our governing institutions, that Earth with all its life is our only home.
Epilogue
We have been overwhelmed with the support for our article and thank the more than 15,000 signatories from all ends of the Earth (see supplemental file S2 for list of signatories). As far as we know, this is the most scientists to ever co-sign and formally support a published journal article. In this paper, we have captured the environmental trends over the last 25 years, showed realistic concern, and suggested a few examples of possible remedies. Now, as an Alliance of World Scientists ( scientists.forestry.oregonstate.edu) and with the public at large, it is important to continue this work to document challenges, as well as improved situations, and to develop clear, trackable, and practical solutions while communicating trends and needs to world leaders. Working together while respecting the diversity of people and opinions and the need for social justice around the world, we can make great progress for the sake of humanity and the planet on which we depend.

Figure 1. Trends over time for environmental issues identified in the 1992 scientists' warning to humanity. The years before and after the 1992 scientists' warning are shown as gray and black lines, respectively. Panel (a) shows emissions of halogen source gases, which deplete stratospheric ozone, assuming a constant natural emission rate of 0.11 Mt CFC-11-equivalent per year. In panel (c), marine catch has been going down since the mid-1990s, but at the same time, fishing effort has been going up (supplemental file S1). The vertebrate abundance index in panel (f) has been adjusted for taxonomic and geographic bias but incorporates relatively little data from developing countries, where there are the fewest studies; between 1970 and 2012, vertebrates declined by 58 percent, with freshwater, marine, and terrestrial populations declining by 81, 36, and 35 percent, respectively (file S1). Five-year means are shown in panel (h). In panel (i), ruminant livestock consist of domestic cattle, sheep, goats, and buffaloes. Note that y-axes do not start at zero, and it is important to inspect the data range when interpreting each graph. Percentage change, since 1992, for the variables in each panel are as follows: (a) -68.1%; (b) -26.1%; (c) -6.4%; (d) +75.3%; (e) -2.8%; (f) -28.9%; (g) +62.1%; (h) +167.6%; and (i) humans: +35.5%, ruminant livestock: +20.5%. Additional descriptions of the variables and trends, as well as sources for figure 1, are included in file S1.

Avvertimento all'umanità dagli scienziati di tutto il mondo: secondo avviso

William J. Ripple, Christopher Wolf, Mauro Galetti, Thomas M Newsome, Mohammed Alamgir, Eileen Crist, Mahmoud I. Mahmoud, William F. Laurance

• dare la priorità alla creazione di riserve interconnesse, ben finanziate e ben gestite, per una porzione significativa degli habitat terrestri, marini, d'acqua dolce e aerei di tutto il mondo;
• preservare i servizi degli ecosistemi naturali fermando la conversione delle foreste, delle praterie e di altri habitat autoctoni;
• ripristinare le comunità vegetali autoctone su larga scala e in particolare i paesaggi forestali;
• rinaturalizzare le aree selvatiche con specie autoctone, in particolare di predatori apicali, per ripristinare i processi e le dinamiche ecologiche;
• sviluppare e adottare strumenti politici adeguati per porre rimedio alla defaunazione e combattere l'emergenza del bracconaggio e lo sfruttamento e il commercio delle specie minacciate;
• ridurre gli sprechi alimentari mediante l'educazione e il miglioramento delle infrastrutture;
• promuovere un progressivo spostamento verso una dieta prevalentemente basata su alimenti di origine vegetale;
• ridurre ulteriormente i tassi di fertilità assicurando che le donne e gli uomini abbiano accesso all'istruzione e ai servizi di pianificazione familiare volontaria, soprattutto dove queste risorse sono ancora carenti;
• incrementare le attività all'aperto di educazione alla natura dei bambini e coinvolgere maggiormente l'intera società nell'apprezzamento della natura;
• disinvestire capitali e cancellare progetti di acquisto ove ciò possa favorire cambiamenti ambientali positivi;
• studiare e promuovere nuove tecnologie verdi e adottare massivamente le fonti di energia rinnovabile, eliminando gradualmente le sovvenzioni alla produzione di energia da combustibili fossili;
• correggere la nostra economia in modo da ridurre le disuguaglianze di ricchezza e garantire che i prezzi, la tassazione e i sistemi di incentivazione tengano conto dei costi reali che le modalità di consumo impongono al nostro ambiente;

(Certificate Plus C2 PROFICIENT  CEFR* mastery proficiency) verified by ProZ.com.
*Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

I am a native Italian editor and translator specialized in marketing materials and business documents, as well as technical documents and IT localization. I have studied Linguistics at university in Rome, and held an in-house position as Editor at PolyGram, in the Netherlands. Today I am based near Rome and work in the following language combinations: EN>IT, FR>IT, NL>IT.

My education in linguistics is completed by a few years of international business experience and more than 25 years dedicated to Languages and Translation.
[please allow javascript to see my short presentation above]

I hold a C2 level CEFR Certification of Mastery Proficiency (highest level) and enjoy wonderful relationships with a number of returning customers, both direct clients and translation agencies, and I am presently interested in a chance to develop more relationships based on quality and loyalty.
Please scroll this presentation for more details on my experience and to see a list of major projects completed for more than 40 clients during the latest 5 years. You can also use and the link to standardized information and the tabs on top of this table for additional documents and info.

My first specialization is in Hardware and Software GUI, Manuals and Documentation and in Technical Documentation. I also have abundant experience in Marketing materials.

In 20 years of work as translator I have also developed a solid knowledge in the following industries:
Advertising, Automotive, Architecture, Business, Consumers Electronics, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, Financial and Administration, HR, IT, Marketing & Distribution, SAP, Telecommunication and Networking. Such experience includes:

- calls of tender and submissions
- outsourcing and maintenance contracts
- technical specifications
- quality control procedures, test protocols, methodological documentation
- customer presentations, training documents, software manuals
- software user interfaces, instructions, help guides and documentation
- training manuals
- notices to personnel and stakeholders
- Web pages and websites
- PR communications and advertising materials
- health & safety guidelines
- subtitles

I have significant experience in translating law-related documentation (especially in the English to Italian and Dutch into Italian language combinations), including:
  • commercial legal documents, from distribution, licensing in/out and sales and purchase contracts, outsourcing agreements, patents and co-existence arrangements, trademark applications, personal data processing documentation (privacy) and a wide range of other commercial arrangements
  • corporate law-related from BoD minutes to offering circulars, prospectus, etc
  • financial markets documentation, including loan agreements, pledge agreements, financial statements, audit reports, etc
  • litigation from summons to appeal court motions

My marketing translations provide perfectly adapted, effective Italian, focused on engaging and attracting readers, inspiring media, and ensuring that campaigns are persuasive and end up pinned to walls for intense discussions.

Studies in the humanities and in linguistics. University degree with honors. Music conservatory. International business management.

As Italian Editor, writer and translator since 1988 for a label of PolyGram, I used to commission check and edit all texts delivered by external translators and authors, up to 1996. During these years I was also involved in subtitling and localization, interacting with artists, writers, translators as well as Product Managers and Engineers.

Back in Italy, I have been introduced to the international TV business market, and I have worked for a few years as a TV program acquisition and sales manager dealing with producers, distributors and TV stations worldwide on a daily basis. The success of my efforts led to the creation of a new Italian TV distribution company.

At the same time, as Translator and Editor, I continued to sell new translations to my earlier clients, accumulating further experience in many different fields, including SAP, Architecture, Software localization, Marketing and PR, Business Administration, Automotive and Technical manuals.

Please see some samples from the wide range of my translations published in all the Italian language pages of the Philips Classics, Decca and DG Compact Disc Booklets, Covers, Packagings and Subtitles, in the Italian Enciclopedia della Musica Einaudi or in the Italian section of the SIFMA website Investing in Bonds Europe.

Quality Assurance. Before I release the final translation to you, I put it through a rigorous quality assurance process. After a routine spell check procedure, I use one or more automated check tools to ensure that there are no inconsistencies, numbers missing or changed, missing translations, punctuation errors, tags errors, etc. Finally
I carefully compare original and translation on my dual display workstation before printing and re-reading my translation to ensure it flows well and does not contain any digressions from the source text.

My responsibility as a translator extends beyond the deadline. Your feedback is always welcome, and I will stand ready to quickly adjust or amend the text if requested.
