연구자의 윤리적 문제 중 대표적인 것은 연구의 진실성을 확보하는 것입니다. 이와 관련된 가장 일반적인 문제는 부정행위입니다. 연구의 제안, 진행과정, 동료평가 및 연구결과 발표시의 조작, 허위 또는 표절 등의 부정행위는 근절되어야 합니다. 학술지는 잠재적인 데이터 조작, 허위, 표절, 이미지 조작, 비윤리적 연구, 저자권(authorship) 남용 등의 부정행위 가능성이 있는지를 우선 검토합니다. 편집자들은 부정행위를 포착할 경우 내부 규정을 검토하여 확인하고, 관련된 기관과 협의합니다. 의심이 가는 부정행위는 정해진 절차에 따라 처리합니다. 이런 행위들은 적절한 조치가 취해질 수 있도록 가능한 한 신속히 다루어야 합니다. 익명의 제보나 내부자 고발에 의해 제기된 구체적이고 자세한 증거가 있는 부정행위는 즉시 조사해야 합니다.
조작, 허위 및 이미지 조작
연구데이터를 이미지 형태로 수집할 때 이미지를 조작하면 다른 결과가 나올 수 있습니다. 따라서 부적절한 이미지 조작은 학술지들이 충분히 식별할 수 있는 부정행위입니다. 물론 이미지 편집이 정당하게 허용되는 경우도 있습니다. 예를 들어 예술작품의 특성을 확인하기 위해 특정 부위를 확대하는 경우 등입니다. 학술지들은 연구자들에게 이미지의 인위적인 처리에 대한 가이드라인을 제공해야 합니다.
표절
학술지들은 연구자들에게 표절에 대한 정의와 가이드라인을 제공해야 합니다. 원칙적으로 저작권의 도용 또는 부적절한 사용, 다른 연구자의 연구물에 대한 인용 없이 무단 복사하는 것 등을 표절로 봅니다. 편집자들은 투고된 논문의 표절 여부를 어떻게 스크린 하는지, 연구자들이 표절을 방지하기 위해 어떻게 해야 하는지에 “저자들에 대한 지시사항”을 통해 알려 주어야 합니다.
Translation - English Misconduct
The most representative ethical issue for researchers is to secure the integrity of research. In this regard, misconduct is the most common problem. Misconduct, such as fabrication, falsification and plagiarism in proposing, conducting, and peer-reviewing research, or in reporting research results, should be eradicated. The Journal makes it top priority to evaluate the possibility of misconducts, including data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, image manipulation, unethical research, and authorship abuse. If the editors find out a suspected case of misconduct, they will refer to and review the internal regulations and consult with the relevant parties. These suspected misconduct will be addressed in accordance with the standard procedures. Such misconduct will be addressed with as quickly as possible to ensure the enforcement of an appropriate response. If an allegation of suspected misconduct is supported by specific and detailed evidence submitted by an anonymous informant or whistle blower, it will be investigated immediately.
Fabrication, Falsification, and Image Manipulation
Manipulation of images may create different results when research data are collected in the form of images. Thus, inappropriate image manipulation is a type of misconduct which can be easily identified by academic journals. There are, of course, some cases that permit image editing. For instance, a part of an artwork can be enlarged to show the features of an artwork. Academic journals should provide the researchers with their guidelines on artificial image treatment.
Plagiarism
Academic journals should provide the definition and guideline of plagiarism to researches. In principle, any piracy or improper use of copyrights belonging to others, or any unauthorized use of the works of other researchers without proper citation constitute acts of plagiarism. The editors should inform researches of how the submitted paper is screened against plagiarism and what should be done to avoid plagiarism through the "instructions to authors".
