Source text - English Neuroscientists are, at least, realizing once of the greatest ambitions in recent medical history: the ability to tap directly into the human nervous system to restore motor and sensory functions in patients who lost them because of injury, illness, or stroke. Those with certain birth defects could also benefit. The advances are being driven by a confluence of developments, including better understanding of the anatomy and function of nerve fibers and the availability of new electrodes for interfacing to those fibers. Also, and perhaps most significant, improved neuromuscular-control algorithms are permitting more natural movements in patients by applying more refined electrical signal to the nerves. All told, the advances are a small but significant step in what will surely be one of technology’s most enduring quests: the medical restoration and ultimately even enhancement of human capabilities by advanced implanted prosthetic systems.

Let us assume then that the message sender, being a fisherman and using relevant subject thesaurus, by schools meant large number of fish swimming together rather than institutions for educating children, and the correct translation then had to be:
У районі з'явились нові косяки риби whereas the translator who presumably did not have relevant information in his subject thesaurus translated schools as institutions for educating children:
У районі з'явились нові школи, which naturally lead to misunderstanding (miscommunication).
The above example shows a case of miscommunication based on the insufficiency of extralinguistic information. However, there are also cases of miscommunication caused by the insufficiency of linguistic information.
This example is, of course, an exaggeration, but it clearly illustrates a dividing line between linguistic and extralinguistic information in translation as visualized by the communicational approach to translation.
Thus, the communicational approach to translation, though saying little about translation as such, highlights a very important aspect of translation.
** According to communicational approach translation is a message sent by a translator to a particular user and the adequacy of translation depends on similarity of their background information rather than only on linguistic correctness.

The effort to overhaul the Windows operating system, originally code-named Longhorn and since renamed Vista, was meant to offer a transformation to a new software foundation. "The Vista development t organization has made rapid progress delivering improvements to Vista's performance, reliability, and compatibility," he said.
[On Friday, the company released what it said would be the final test version of Vista, named Release Candidate 2. The debugging process has been urgent, with Microsoft scheduled to introduce Windows Vista and Office 2007 to corporate customers by the end of the year, and to home users early next year.
Over the summer, the company began an extraordinary bug-tracking effort, abetted by volunteers and corporate partners who ran free copies of both Windows and Office designed to send data detailing each crash back to Microsoft computers.
The Office package, for example, has been tested by more than 3.5 million users; last month alone, more than 700,000 PC's were running the software, generating more than 46 million separate work sessions. Microsoft, 53,000 employee computers are running test versions.
Vista has also been tested extensively. More than half a million computer users have installed Vista test software, and 450,000 of the systems have sent crash data back to Microsoft.
The testing effort for Windows Vista has been led by Mario Garzia, Microsoft's director of Windows reliabilityMoreover, the rise of Google and other companies moving toward Internet-based software development raises doubts about the value of giant efforts like Windows and Office, which can take more than five years.
