angielski > francuski: extrait de traduction d'une fiction
Tekst źródłowy - angielski Squall angrily slammed his fist against the desk. He took another look at the telephone and with one swipe of his arm; he knocked it to the floor. Why would he say something like that? “Is that it?” He thought he might have received some encouragement in this. He felt the need for some outside encouragement to get him through this. Someone to tell him that yes, this is the right thing to do. Squall didn’t know if he would ever be ready to give up on her. He couldn’t depend on himself to know the answers anymore.
“If you would have waited hothead, you might have gotten them.” He argued with himself. He could have given Laguna a chance to say something, perhaps there was something behind his answer. Something he was going to add. “Something you’ll never know, will you?” No, all the tension all the pain he was holding for this one phone call exploded into something hurtful that Laguna did nothing to earn. Not that time. As angry as the young man was, deep in his heart he knew he hadn’t meant those last words that came from his lips before he slammed the phone brutally against the receiver.
He would have to do something about this, but not now. He couldn’t form the words of an apology if his life depended on it at that moment. Squall reached into the side table drawer and pulled out a small white bottle. He twisted the cap and turned the bottle up allowing a few pills to fall into his mouth. He chewed the bitter aspirin hoping that maybe they could ease the pain he felt. Yet knowing in reality they could not.
“Sir, are you alright? I thought I heard a loud crash.” The intercom buzzed.
“Great…he thought to himself, I could have been assassinated and had my body disposed of in the Island Closest To Hell by the time she gets around to asking gee, what was that noise?
“I’m fine Janice, just doing some spring cleaning.”

Lata doświadczenia jako tłumacz: 4. Zarejestrowany od: Feb 2012.
Having studied literature, latin and grammar, I have an excellent knowledge of french spelling and grammar.
I developped my proof-reading skills over time, working freely for various associations, correcting blog entries and internal communication in companies. This has been a hobby for the past 6 years, in those years I gathered experience, perfected my methods and every job completed increases my love for the activity.
I have experience in teaching French as a foreign language (to native english, polish or german speakers) which also enables me to correct and proof-read original texts written by non-native speakers. In my time as a teacher, I assisted students writing their master thesis in French though it was not their native language. My role was more than being a live spell- and grammar check. I took part in the writing by explaining the mistakes and helping them express their ideas without writing for them. I based my work on correcting while respecting their style.
My translation skills have been developed as I worked for corporations or local companies. I have had my translation activity on the side, as a complement and because this was to me more engaging, fun and open than the translations done in the company. I simply felt the need to complete those and develop my skills in different fields. I love learning via the texts that I translate, having my curiosity stimulated and having the possibility to extend my knowledge throughout the pages.
Today, I also occasionally "ghost-write" for internal company communications. This activity is one I greatly enjoy as it means respecting the given style, providing coherence and first of all, it requires a good understanding of the initial request, writing a whole text based on an idea explained over the phone is not necessarily easy at first but it gets every time easier as the connection with the company grows and the background knowledge widens.
My languages:
-French, mother tongue
-English
-German
-Polish
-Spanish
As a competent translator and proof-reader, I:
->'m native speaker of the target language
->'m thorough, precise and exact
->have perfect grammar and spelling
->'m computer literate
->'m curious and keep myself up-to-date with news in my expertise fields
My availabilities:
Beside my translation activity, I am working as a language teacher. I am very flexible with time and do not mind working late at night if required.
Writing, grammar and words are a passion. I am active in fanfiction communities for which I proof-read or translate regularly.
Hope to hear from you soon!
