Source text - Ukrainian Друга половина 1950-х - початок 60-х рр. ознаменували собою новий важливий етап в історії радянського суспільства. Відхід від принципів "казарменного" соціалізму, звільнення з в'язниць і таборів мільйонів наших співвітчизників, реформаторські починання тогочасного партійного лідера М.С. Хрущова, породжували певний оптимізм, вселяли надію на можливість побудови гармонійного і гуманного суспільства. Однак, як довела подальша практика, зазначені кроки носили частковий характер і аж ніяк не торкалися підмурків державного і суспільного устрою.
Половинчатість та непослідовність хрущовської "відлиги" наочно простежується практично в усіх здійснених в цей період заходах. Наприклад, засудивши злочини сталінізму, масові незаконні реперсії періоду 1920-х - початку 50-х рр. вище політичне керівництво не розкрило справжню природу цього негативного явища, якке стало родинною плямою радянської тоталітарної системи.
Translation - English The second half of 1950’s – the beginning of 60’s marked a new important stage in the history of soviet society. Recession from “barrack” socialism, release from jails and labor camps of millions of our fellow compatriots and reformatory initiatives of the then party leader Khrushchev M.S., generated definite optimism, gave hope for possibility of creation a harmonious and humane society. Though, as the future practice proved, mentioned steps had partial character and did not apply to the foundation of the state and social system.
Halfway policy and inconsistency of Khrushchev Thaw are obviously traced in most if not all measures implemented during this period. For instance, having denounced crimes of Stalinism, illegal mass repressions of the 1920’s – early 1950’s, top political leadership did not disclose the true nature of this negative phenomenon, which became a family spot of the soviet totalitarian system.
