I am a native English speaker who has been living and working in South Korea for the last 8 years with my Korean husband.
Together we run a translation services business, based about 1 hour outside of Seoul. I am also a lecturer in English and Linguistics at Hongik University, with over 10 years experience in this field.
My academic background was originally in maths but I complemented this with study in Linguistics, and since graduation have been working in this field. I hold a BA in Mathematics and Linguistics and an MA in Linguistics from Trinity College, Cambridge. I studied Korean to advanced level at Yonsei University.
I began translating in 2005, starting with academic papers for colleagues at the university, and have since moved on to more specialized translation (including IT, computing, software and marketing).
My background was in maths and theoretical physics before moving into linguistics. Maybe that's why I enjoy doing translation- a discipline that encompasses the precision of a science and the creativity of an art form.
My rates are reasonable and turnaround time can be tailored to your project requirements. I accept MS Office, PDF files and Trados (2007/2011) files.
