Bio

I practised as a lawyer for 14 years in Hong Kong and the UK, before becoming a freelance translator and writer/editor, specialising in civil law.

I live in the UK and am proficient in Mandarin and Cantonese translation, with English being my native language.

My legal background has instilled in me an eye for detail, accuracy and punctuality, so I'm equally comfortable with translation as well as proofreading and editing.

In terms of areas of subject matter, besides my specialism in law, I have covered diverse subjects such as corporate documents, travel, marketing, mystery shopping surveys, and language test materials. I regularly translate certificates and diplomas, contracts of all kinds, company policies and publications.

I offer my services through my company JWH Professional Services Limited, a company registered in England and Wales and is VAT-registered.

I am a Chartered Linguist with the Chartered Institute of Linguists in the UK, attesting to my professional qualifications and adherence to professional standards.
