Considérant tous les facteurs qui influencent l’émission du bruit par une éolienne, sa propagation et sa perception par la population, il demeure difficile de déterminer une distance séparatrice minimale universelle adéquate pour éviter ou diminuer les nuisances potentielles. De plus, la détermination d’une distance minimale ne devrait pas seulement tenir compte de l’impact du bruit et des conditions topographiques et météorologiques qui influencent sa propagation, mais aussi d’autres aspects comme l’impact sur le paysage, le contexte d’implantation (par exemple, un milieu rural ou récréotouristique), le bruit initial et les ombres créées par le mouvement des pales. Les distances séparatrices sont rarement proposées dans la gestion des risques liés à d’autres sources de bruit environnemental. Des niveaux sonores maximaux ainsi que des indicateurs complémentaires, tels qu’un nombre maximal d’événements bruyants, sont plutôt utilisés.
La note d’instructions 98-01 du MDDEP précise des niveaux sonores maximaux de 40 dB(A) la nuit et 45 dB(A) le jour pour les zones les plus sensibles. À titre d’information, ces niveaux ont été comparés à des simulations réalisées pour des conditions très favorables à la propagation du son dans le cadre de l'étude de l'Agence française de sécurité sanitaire de l’environnement et du travail (afsset) pour une, trois et six éoliennes à des distances de 200, 400, 800 et 1 500 mètres. Ainsi, pour une résidence à proximité d’une éolienne, une distance de 500 m est probablement tout juste adéquate alors qu'une distance de 800 m semblerait appropriée pour un groupe de trois éoliennes, mais pas tout à fait suffisante pour un groupe de six éoliennes.
Dans un document faisant suite à la recommandation de l’Académie française de médecine, l’afsset souligne qu’à une distance de 1 500 m (distance recommandée à titre de moratoire par l’Académie française de médecine), le bruit généré par une éolienne de 2 MW reste faible. Toutefois, elle soulève qu’étant donné la variabilité des situations réelles, une distance fixe minimale de 1 500 m, bien que largement suffisante, ne serait pas pertinente. L’afsset suggère d’évaluer chaque situation cas par cas en tenant compte de leur variabilité.
Translation - English Difficulty and relevance of determining a separation distance
Considering the multitude of factors that influence turbine noise emission, its propagation and the population's perception thereof , it remains difficult to establish an adequate standard minimal separation distance to avoid or mitigate potential annoyance. Further, when determining a minimum distance, not only should noise impact and topographic and meteorological conditions influencing sound propagation be taken into account, but also other aspects such as impact on the landscape, context of the installation (e.g., in rural area or region of recreational or touristic interest), background sound levels and shadow flicker caused by rotating blades. In risk management practices for other sources of noise, separation distances are rarely proposed. Rather, maximum sound levels as well as complementary indicators such as the maximum number of noisy events are used.
The MDDEP’s memorandum of instruction (note d’instructions) No. 98-01 stipulates maximum sound levels of 40 dB(A) at night-time and 45 dB(A) during the day for the most sensitive zones. For the sake of information, these levels were compared to simulations performed using favourable conditions for sound propagation as part of a study conducted by the French Agency for Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (AFSSET) for one, three and six turbines at distances of 200, 400, 800 and 1500 m. It was shown that for a residence in proximity to one turbine, a distance of 500 m is probably just enough, while a buffer of 800 m appears to be appropriate for a group of three turbines, but not quite sufficient for a cluster of six turbines.
In a document issued in response to a recommendation made by the French National Academy of Medicine, AFSSET emphasizes that at a distance of 1500 m (distance recommended as a moratorium by the said Academy), the noise generated by a 2 MW turbine remains low. However, AFSSET stresses that given the variability of real-life situations, a fixed minimal distance of 1500 m, though largely sufficient, would lack relevance. Rather, AFSSET suggests assessing situations on a case-by-case basis while taking their variability into account.

Source text - French Le thé vert est transformé en trois étapes : la torréfaction, le roulage et la dessiccation. La torréfaction permet de tuer les enzymes responsables de la fermentation en quelques secondes. Comme le thé n’est pas fermenté, il conservera sa couleur verte. Pour cela, les feuilles sont chauffées à une température d’environ 100°C. Ces dernières deviennent souples et pliables pour le roulage.
Les feuilles sont roulées sous des formes différentes selon les traditions et les pays. En Chine, on distingue trois manières de rouler le thé vert :
- Le gunpowder (poudre à canon) : la feuille est roulée sur elle-même et forme une petite boule.
- Le Chu Mee (sourcil du vieil homme) : la feuille est vrillée dans le sens de la longueur.
- Le Lung Ching (puits du dragon) : la feuille est aplatie dans le sens de la longueur.
À la suite du roulage, les feuilles sont mises en petits tas pour sécher (la dessiccation). Cette opération peut être faite à froid ou à chaud, selon la finesse de la cueillette.
Translation - English Green tea is processed in three steps: roasting, rolling, and drying. The roasting process serves to kill the enzymes responsible for fermentation in the span of a few seconds. Because green tea is not allowed to ferment, it will conserve its green colour. During the roasting process, the leaves are heated to approximately 100°C, at which point they become soft and pliable for rolling.
The leaves are rolled into different shapes according to each country’s traditions. In China, three rolling techniques exist for green tea:
- Gunpowder: the leaves are rolled over themselves into a small round pellet.
- Chun Mee (“precious eyebrow tea”): the leaves are twisted lengthwise.
- Longjing (“dragon well tea”): the leaves are flattened lengthwise.
Once they have been rolled, the leaves are placed in small piles to dry (desiccation). This step can take place under hot or cool temperatures, depending on the fineness of the harvest.

Source text - French Tout d’abord, il est important de savoir que caféine et théine sont une seule et même molécule. Selon les dernières recherches, il y aurait 4 à 5 fois moins de caféine dans la feuille de thé que dans le café. La théine est relâchée dans l’organisme pendant une durée plus longue (de 6 à 8 heures) et de façon plus homogène. La caféine, pour sa part, est diffusée plus rapidement pendant 2 à 3 heures, produisant un pic d’intensité qui retombe aussitôt. C’est pourquoi on a l’habitude de dire : « le thé stimule sans énerver ». La différence entre ces deux substances tient donc dans la durée et dans l’intensité de la stimulation.
Le thé contient également des tannins qui ralentissent l'absorption de la caféine par l'organisme. Il est bon de distinguer le thé de longue infusion du thé de stimulation. En effet, plus un thé est infusé, plus il est riche en tannins et moins la théine est active. Une infusion trop longue augmente la concentration de tanins et l’astringence devient parfois de l’amertume.

Firstly, it is important to bear in mind that caffeine and theine are one and the same molecule. According to the latest research, it is believed that tea leaves contain 4 to 5 times less caffeine than coffee. Theine is released into the organism over a longer period (6 to 8 hours) and at a more uniform rate. Caffeine on the other hand is diffused more rapidly (2 to 3 hours), producing an intensity peak which subsides just as quickly. This is why it is often said that “tea provides the stimulation without the irritation”. The difference between these two substances therefore lies in the duration and intensity of the stimulation.
Tea also contains tannins which slow the absorption of caffeine by the organism. It is important to make a distinction between long steeping teas and stimulating teas. Indeed, the longer a tea steeps, the richer it becomes in tannins and the less active the theine is. Over-infusing a tea increases the tannin concentration, causing astringency to give way to bitterness.
