Chalet Espen is an original Swiss chalet from the 17th century, located in the mountain resort of Engelberg, in the heart of Switzerland.
We operate Chalet Espen as a catered ski lodge / chalet throughout the Winter season, offering modern and comfortable guest accommodation in a unique setting, just a short walk from Engelberg's main lift station.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed and friendly environment, with good food and high quality accommodation, at a reasonable price.
We have 6 double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a single room, which together can accommodate up to 14 guests. Additional bedrooms are available for larger groups of 18 to 20. Children are welcome.
For the past five years we have enjoyed meeting a number of guests from Sweden and so we have produced this shortened version of our website, written in Swedish. We hope it provides our Swedish visitors with the most essential information about our chalet, and the resort of Engelberg, but for more details and photographs, we would invite you to also view our full winter and summer websites, which are written in English.
Engelberg itself dates back to the 12th century and is one of the original Swiss ski resorts. Today the resort offers state of the art facilities, for skiers and non-skiers alike, and is extremely child-friendly.
Engelberg is dominated by the Titlis mountain, which climbs to well over 3,000 metres and is served by the Rotair cable car, the first rotating cable car in the world. Titlis is snow-sure and the skiing season is long, running from mid November to the end of May.
Engelberg's skiing is extremely varied, ranging from tough blacks and demanding red runs through to three areas devoted to children and beginners. Engelberg is famous for its fantastic freeride skiing and boarding, which is amongst the best in the world.
Travelling here is very easy. Zurich and Basel airports are less than 2 hours drive away and minibus taxi transfers are easy to arrange. There is also an excellent train service from Zurich airport all the way to the resort, via the beautiful city of Luzern.

Chalet Espen är en genuin alpstuga, en ”chalet”, från 1700-talet som ligger i bergsbyn Engelberg i hjärtat av Schweiz.
Under vintersäsongen drivs Chalet Espen som en skid- eller alpstuga med hotellservice. Våra gäster erbjuds modernt och bekvämt boende i en unik omgivning, endast en kort promenad från Engelbergs största liftstation.
Vårt mål är att erbjuda en avslappnad och trevlig miljö med god mat och boende av hög kvalitet till ett rimligt pris.
Vi har sex dubbelrum, med angränsande badrum, och ett enkelrum som tillsammans kan rymma upp till 14 gäster. För större grupper om 18 till 20 personer finns det extra sovrum tillgängliga. Barn är välkomna.
Under de senaste fem åren har vi haft nöjet att möta många gäster från Sverige och därför har vi nu skapat den här förkortade versionen av vår hemsida på svenska. Vi hoppas att den ger våra svenska besökare den nödvändigaste informationen om vår stuga och om Engelberg som skidort. Själva Engelberg härrör från 1100-talet och var en av de första skidorterna i Schweiz. Idag erbjuder byn toppmoderna bekvämligheter, både för dem som åker skidor och för dem som inte gör det, och är mycket barnvänlig.
Över Engelberg höjer sig berget Titlis, som är drygt 3000 meter högt, och upp till toppen kommer man med världens första roterande kabinlift, Rotair. Titlis är snösäkert och skidsäsongen är lång, från mitten av november till slutet av maj.
Skidåkningen i Engelberg är väldigt varierande och här finns allt från svåra svarta och krävande röda backar till tre områden för barn och nybörjare. Engelberg är känt för fantastisk freeride, bland den bästa i världen, inom både skidåkning och snowboard.
Det är väldigt enkelt att ta sig hit. Flygplatserna i Zürich och Basel ligger mindre än två timmar bort och transfer med minibuss är lätt att ordna. Dessutom går det tåg från flygplatsen i Zürich hela vägen till Engelberg genom den vackra staden Luzern.
