על רקע השפעות שווקי ההון והמשבר המתמשך באירופה, נראה כי בשנים האחרונות קיימת תנודתיות בתוצאות פעילותן של חברות החזקה הפועלות במגוון תחומי פעילות ושווקים. נציין כי, הצמיחה היציבה שהציג ענף הנדל"ן המקומי, ברמת הביקושים והמחירים, הביאה לשיפור בתוצאות פעילותן של חברות החזקה הפעילות בתחומי הנדל"ן.
שנת 2012 התאפיינה בגל של הסדרי חוב בין חברות ההחזקה לנושים. השאיפה להגדלת שיעורי ההחזקה בחברות בעלות פוטנציאל לרווחיות, הביאה לשיעורי מינוף גבוהים בקרב מרבית החברות בענף. אולם, תוצאות שליליות של חלק מהחברות המוחזקות, הקשו על חברות ההחזקה לפרוע את חובותיהן. בהתאם, חברות המצויות בקשיים נוקטות באסטרטגיה של הפחתת רמת המינוף, בעיקר באמצעות מימוש נכסים בארץ ובחו"ל ויישום צעדי התייעלות, מעבר להסדרי חוב שבוצעו.

On the backdrop of the effects of financial markets and the ongoing crisis in Europe, it looks as though the results of holding companies, operating in a variety of activities and markets, are characterized in recent years by fluctuation. It is worthy of noting that the steady growth of demand and prices in local real estate has brought about an improvement in the results of holding companies active in the various areas of real estate.
2012 was characterized by a wave of debt settlements between the holding companies and their creditors. The aim of increasing the share of holdings in companies with profit potential has brought about a high rate of leveraging among most of the companies in the sector. However, negative results of some of the companies held have made it difficult for the holding companies to pay their debts. Accordingly, companies in difficulty opt for the strategy of reducing their level of leveraging, mainly by realization of assets in Israel and abroad and implementation of efficiency measures, beyond the debt settlements made.
