Bio
Welcome to my profile

I am an experienced translator, interpreter and proofreader with BA degree in commerce and two master degrees in theology and philosophy and PhD degree in philosophy. My language pairs are English to Korean / Korean to English with specialization in Military/Defense, Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Law and Humanities as well as other areas in general.

I started my translation career as a university student with the translation of an English book, “Until Justice and Peace embrace” into Korean which was published in 1990. Currently, the prestigious academic publishing company, Pickering and Chatto Publishers, is consulting with me to publish my Ph.d thesis (written in English) in a monograph.

As a teaching career, I have been teaching as part-time adjunct professor of the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary of the East (Toronto) since 2007. Recently, I delivered a lecture at the symposium in Institute for Foundational Studies in North-West University in RSA. In addition, I taught at several English language institutes in Pusan, South Korea during 1990-1992 and was a special English lecturer at Pusan National University in 1992.

During military service in Korea, I worked as interpreter for military intelligence group as Korean Augmentation to U.S.A Army for three years. This experience made me specialize in the area of Military/Defense.
Since I started to study in U.S.A and Canada in 1997, I have been living in North America as well as reading, writing, communicating in English for over 18 years.

I had spent most intensive time writing my dissertation until last year and I returned to translation job. Even if I acknowledge that I had been absent from translation job for several years, I returned with more knowledge and experience in English, which is my source language.

For a professional translator, I believe that a good translation technique, language skills and some talent for the style of language as well as a sound knowledge of your field of specialization are mandatory. On top of them, the actual experience of living in the culture of your working language will only complete your ability to understand and catch the fine nuances in the language.

My experience of life, study and teaching in the culture of my working language has equipped me with a broader understanding of the language and meaning, which could be hidden without experiencing the custom and mentality of the native language users. On top of that, my highly academic study in Philosophy has made me understand the deeper meaning of the English text without losing any sophisticated details.

I am highly dedicated to customer's satisfaction.
