Bio
I have extensive experience in editing, technical and features writing, web content management, preparing information products and campaigns both for internal audiences and external stakeholders, and publishing (preparing publications for printing and web upload).

In my present consultancy with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), I am writing the final knowledge product of a 9-year fund on HIV/AIDS interventions in ADB infrastructure projects. The fund was provided by the Government of Sweden to undertake 17 projects and subprojects. The knowledge product is a compendium that presents the achievements of the fund, through its various projects and subprojects, against a results framework of ADB, to build awareness on ADB interventions in HIV/AIDS infection. The compendium aims to present a convincing picture to potential donors and partners of ADB’s capacity to continue this kind of intervention not only in HIV/AIDS but in other communicable diseases as well, and not only in infrastructure projects but in ADB’s health sector projects in general. The work entails desk research; technical and creative writing; proposing the publication plan (contents of the book, presentation, production schedule); overseeing prepress production; and manuscript editing.

I also am editing three books on strategic environmental assessment in the power sector. The books are the final knowledge products of a technical assistance project and are to be edited for generalist readers, styling the language and writing to present ADB’s pioneering work in this area to inform, persuade, and engage—particularly future collaborators and partners. The work entails commenting on exposition (presentation of ideas, logical arrangement, argumentation); and correcting language, grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, referencing, formatting, and style and usage in accordance with ADB’s Handbook of Style and Usage.

Previously, I consulted for a department that reported to the ADB Board of Directors, copyediting technical assistance reports, reports and recommendations of the ADB President to the Board of Directors, and country operations business plans. I critiqued presentation of design and monitoring frameworks of loan and technical assistance proposals (presentation of risks and assumptions; wording of impact, outcome, outputs, and activities).

My last regular employment was as Publication Officer for 18 years at the Economics and Research Department (ERD) also of ADB, tasked with manuscript editing of economic and statistical research; editorial management (coordinating refereeing, layout, printing, dissemination); and production scheduling. I also assisted in writing ERD’s department primers and drafting the Economics Research Bulletin.

The ADB Economics Working Paper Series; Asian Development Review journal; ERD Policy Brief Series; and Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific, ADB's annual statistical databook, were the main serials that I edited. I also edited special studies published by ADB or co-published with external publishers such as Palgrave MacMillan and Oxford University Press.

At the same time, I was web content editor of the Economics and Statistics site, which later became the Data and Research site, helping design the site, suggesting navigation and links, and writing web copy (I had an online training with a US company on writing web copy sponsored by ADB). I prepared publications for upload (distilled PDFs), tagged and assigned metadata and keywords, and suggested deep links and backlinks to make for effective navigation.

I also performed publication coordination, coordinating production of the Asian Development Outlook, ADB's annual forecast and analysis of economic performance of its member countries, in 1999 and 2000. I announced ERD publications and activities on the electonic daily newsletter ADBToday; and supervised distribution of ERD publications to subscribers and staff and during ADB events. I liaised with libraries to register new titles (ISBN and ISSN), and with external publishers and printers to arrange production schedules, harmonize desktop publishing software, and coordinate delivery of press materials and printed copies to ADB headquarters.

I have experience in creative art direction, conceptualizing book covers and interior templates to accurately depict the contents of a publication and create visual impact. At ADB and other international organizations I worked for, I supervised desktop artists, proofreaders, and graphic designers.

In my previous companies such as the International Rice Research Institute, Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific, Asian Sources Media Group, and Asia Business Consultants, I edited agronomic research, PhD theses, and research papers for presentation in international scientific conferences; wrote international conference proceedings and newsletters; set up trade exhibits; and prepared marketing collaterals. I have had experience writing monographs on Philippine development issues such as peace and order and child protection, and editing research on Philippine agricultural policy.
