Source text - English Geography is the study of the location as well as the similarities and differences (variation) over the spatial physical and human phenomena on the surface of the earth. The word derives from the Greek, namely Geo ("Earth") and graphein ("writing" or "explain").
Geography is also the name of historic titles on this subject, notably the Geographia by Klaudios Ptolemy (second century).
Geography is more than cartography, the study of the map. It not only what and where on the face of the earth, but also why there and not in other places, sometimes defined as "location in space." Studies this, whether caused by nature or humans. Also studies the consequences of those differences.
Translation - Indonesian Geografi adalah ilmu yang mempelajari tentang lokasi serta persamaan dan perbedaan (variasi) keruangan atas fenomena fisik dan manusia di atas permukaan bumi. Kata geografi berasal dari Bahasa Yunani yaitu gêo ("Bumi") dan graphein ("tulisan", atau "menjelaskan").
Geografi juga merupakan nama judul buku bersejarah pada subjek ini, yang terkenal adalah Geographia tulisan Klaudios Ptolemaios (abad kedua).
