Bio
I was born in the Siberian North, spent my teenage years in Kirgizstan and the Crimea, went to University in St Petersburg to obtain an honours degree in Physical Education, plus a Teacher’s Diploma with added qualifications in sports medicine and physiotherapy. I have travelled widely in around Europe, Asia and the Americas. That is important as many of my past Russian clients have come from the likes of Adelaide, New York, Toronto and Tel Aviv. Thus I know that not all Russians are the same and adapting to the needs of the clients and their target audience is important for successful translation.
I consider myself fortunate to have my degree from one of Russia’s oldest and most prestigious universities that gave me a solid grounding in sports medicine, knowing all anatomical terms. My favourite school subject was always mathematics – leading me into commerce. For six years I was the advertising manager of a Russian language television station just before I came to New Zealand in 2002.
In New Zealand I run my own business Tauranga Translation Services. I am
