הצעה לתצוגה
בתצוגה החדשה בחלל הדירה של הסופר שלום אש נייצר מקום שהזמן עמד מלכת בו בשנת 1957. לכאורה הרגשה ששלום אש עזב את מפתן ביתו לביקור בלונדון בקיץ חמישים ושבע ושם נפטר באופן פתאומי ומאז הבית לא השתנה. החפצים האישים שכל אחד מהם יספר סיפור יהיו נגישים, על הכיריים סמובר התה יעלה אדים ובמזווה יהיו עדיין מאופסן אוכל יהודי.
בית שלום אש החדש יהיה חלל חוויתי ולימודי להיכרות עם חייו האישיים של הסופר, ועם תכנים מעולמו הספרותי ותרבות היידיש. כל חדר מחדרי הדירה יפגיש את המבקר עם עולם תוכן אחר: כך לדוגמא, יוכל המבקר במרכז לשבת על כורסת הסופר בחדר הסלון שכאילו קפא מאז, ולקרוא מספריו תוך כדי מופע אור קולי שיספר על תולדותיו. בביקור במטבח הוא יוכל להכיר מתכונים מהמטבח הפולני, ואפילו בשירותים הוא יפגוש בדיחות וסיפורים.

Shalom Asch House
Exhibition Proposal
With the new exhibition located in the former apartment of writer Shalom Asch, we will create a place untouched by time since the year 1957. It will feel as if Shalom Asch had only just now walked out of the door, embarking on his summer visit to London in ‘57 during which he suddenly passed away, leaving his house unchanged ever since. His personal objects, each one telling its own story, will all be within arm’s reach. The tea samovar will be steaming on the stovetop, and Jewish food will still be stored in the larder.
The Shalom Asch house will be an experiential and educational space to familiarize visitors with the personal life of the writer, with the contents of his literary world, and with Yiddish culture. Every one of the apartment’s rooms will offer the visitor a different world of content. Thus, for example, a visitor to the center could sit on the writer’s armchair in a living room seemingly frozen in time, while reading his books and watching a light-sound display about the writer’s life. Upon visiting the kitchen, the visitor could become acquainted with various Polish recipes; even in the restroom, visitors will encounter jokes and stories.
The space will serve as a visitor center for visitors of all ages, and will include tour guiding services designed for schools and kindergartens, lectures, literary evenings, cultural collaborations with other institutions, and more.

4. Kitchen The Wandering Jew The story of the wanderings of the Jewish people following WWI. WWI decimated the Old World of the shtetls in Eastern Europe. Shalom Asch joined a delegation that aimed to document the destruction of these communities and to publish newspaper items on these immigrants for the Western world. His articles made waves throughout the world and inspired world Jewry to issue a call to action. Shalom Asch is elected first president of the Jewish American Joint Distribution Committee Objects: Stove, sink, soap dishes, kitchen closet. 5. Work Room The Yiddish Language + Gathering and instruction space The Yiddish language was created in the 10th century among the Shum communities in Ashkenaz, Germany. The Yiddish language is written with Hebrew letters. For hundreds of years, extensive literature, poetry and journalism was created in Yiddish. This room will present this extensive Yiddish corpus beginning in the 10th century until its blossom in the period up to the eve of WWII. Objects: Typewriter, bed, table, chair, bookcase.
Media: Interactive typewriter that teaches the Aleph-Beys in Yiddish. This gives the visitor the ability to later read the Yiddish names of the books that will be located in the bookcase.
6. A New Hallway (from the Work Room to the Bedroom through the Yard) Food Familiarity with the Eastern European cuisine. This installation will include recipes, stories about food, and descriptions of food in Yiddish literature. Installation: Inbal Hoffman
7. Bedroom Yiddish Theater Shalom Asch wrote plays for the Yiddish theater that won international critical acclaim, including “God of Vengeance” and “Motke the Thief.” Some of his plays, like “Uncle Moses” were even made into feature films. Using: Outfits, models, texts, plans, documents.

10. Hallway Conclusion of the tour This will be a sanctified space dedicated to the destruction of Eastern European Jewry and its culture during the Holocaust. We will mention the sudden passing of Shalom Asch during his visit to London and, using Isaac Bashevis Singer’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech, we will bid farewell to Yiddish culture. "היו שם עשרות אנשים כמוני שמילאו דלק וכשהתלוננו אמרו לנו בתחנה: זה המחיר שנתנו לנו. התעקשתי ומנהלת התחנה הבטיחה שתחזיר לי את ההפרש. דרשתי ממנה לעדכן אותי איך הם מתכוונים לפצות את מי שתדלק כמוני בתחנה במטרה להקדים את עליית המחירים וגילה שאכל אותה. שלחתי גם תלונה למשרד האנרגיה וקיבלתי תשובה שהתלונה הועברה לנופיה בכר, המפקחת על המחירים".
דואר ישראל: הייקור לפי משרדי התקשורת והאוצר
יש מקרים בהם עליית המע"מ לא יושמה באופן אחיד ועל כן הם מבלבלים צרכנים. צרכנית בשם יעל התלוננה שלרגל עליית המע"מ, "דואר ישראל ייקר את השירותים בצורה לא פרופורציונלית". לטענתה, "משלוח מכתב במשקל חריג בישראל, שעלה עד היום, 3 שקלים. מהיום עולה 3.10 שקלים, במקום 3.02 שקלים".
מבדיקה בסניף דואר אקראי בת"א, אמרו לנו שחלק ממוצרי הדואר התייקרו בעקבות המע"מ ואחרים – מחירם לא השתנה. "נכון שמכתב במשקל חריג התייקר מעבר למע"מ אבל יש מוצרים שלא התייקרו", אמרה לנו פקידה בסניף. "למשל, עלות משלוח מכתב נשארה 2 שקלים וכך גם משלוח בסיסי לחו"ל. את התעריפים החדשים אפשר למצוא באתר הדואר". גורם בדואר אמר ל-ynet כי בעליית המע"מ הקודמת, לא הועלו תעריפי הדואר ועל כן ההתייקרויות במוצרים ושרותים מסוימים - הן לפי עדכון הכולל את שתי עליות המע"מ.
גם נהגי מוניות אמרו ל-ynet כי יתכן עדכון מע"מ כפול - של 2% - שנוסעים יתפלאו ואולי אף יכעסו לגלות. זאת כיוון שבעליית המע"מ הקודמת, בסטמבר 2012, לא עודכן המע"מ במונה.
חברות האשראי: עמלת תשלום נדחה התייקרה
ומה לגבי חברות האשראי? צרכן התלונן שבחברות האשראי עידכנו את "עמלת תשלום נדחה" מ-49 אג' ל-50 אג' עבור עסקאות היסטוריות, בעקבות העלייה במע"מ. זאת למרות שהמוצר עליו שולמו התשלומים, כבר נרכש והגיע לבית הלקוח ועל כן עליית המע"מ לא אמורה לחלו לגבי התשלומים הנוספים עליו. יחד עם זאת, בחברות האשראי טוענים שעמלת תשלום נדחה היא שירות שהחברה מעניקה מדי חודש, לכן עלויות המע"מ כן חלות עליו.

לגבי תחנת הדלק במבשרת ציון מסרו בפז בתגובה: "תחנת פז במבשרת ציון הנה בבעלות פרטית של זכיין ולא בבעלות פז. הזכיין פעל בניגוד לחוק ופז תפעל נגדו בכל הכלים והאמצעים העומדים לרשותה. לקראת עליית המע"מ עדכנה פז את כל התחנות שעובדת עמם כבר ביום חמישי על מנת לתזכר אותם כי המע"מ מתעדכן במוצ"ש ב-24:00".
לגבי התייקרות מוצרים בחנויות yellow פז מסרו בתגובה: "ההתאמה למע"מ החדש תבוצע רק היום בערב בכל תחנות פז וחנויות yellow ולא בוצעה קודם לכן. כמו כן,הרשת קיבלה החלטה לספוג את המע"מ בהתייחס להרבה מוצרים מובילים כמו סיגריות, משקאות וחטיפים מסוימים בכדי לא להעלות את המחיר לצרכנים.
"ללא קשר למע"מ, ביום חמישי האחרון, התבצע עדכון מחירים למס' מוצרים שמחיריהם היו נמוכים משמעותית מהשוק וזאת מתוך אלפי מוצרים הנמכרים ב yellow שמחירם נותר ללא שינוי".
מיכל דנין בעלת התחנה מסרה בתגובה: "אני מתנצלת, זו היתה טעות. אנחנו שומרים שבת, פתחנו את התחנה במוצ"ש ושיניתי את התאריך בטעות, לא בכוונה לקחת יותר כסף. כל מי שתדלק בתחנה באותו היום יקבל את ההפרש בחזרה - במזומן".
מחברת דואר ישראל נמסר בתגובה: "על פי כללי משרד התקשורת והאוצר, בשירותי הדואר היחידני מעוגלים התעריפים לעשר האגורות הקרובות, מעלה או מטה כנהוג.
"מחיר המוצר האמיתי, שהצגת בפנייתך, עמד על 3.026 בעקבות העלאת המע״מ הקודמת. בשל עיגול המחיר (כלפי מטה במקרה זה) המחיר לצרכן היה 3 שקלים. בעקבות העלאת המע״מ הנוכחית, עלה מחיר המוצר ל-3.052 ועל כן חצה את 'רף' חמש האגורות ועוגל כלפי מעלה ל-3.10.
"עם זאת, במקרים אחרים, כגון שליחת דואר רגיל שמחירו שני שקלים, נותר המחיר הקודם, מאחר שלאחר חישוב המע״מ לא חצה המחיר את ״רף״ חמש האגורות ועל כן נותר המחיר כשהיה".

Gas prices and the VAT both went up, and it turns out that this prepares the ground for price increases. The Israel Postal Company: The Price Increase is According to the Communications and Treasury Ministries
There are cases in which the increase in VAT was not applied uniformly across the board, leaving consumers confused. A consumer named Yael complained that, to mark the VAT increase, "the Israel Postal Company made their services disproportionately more expensive." According to her, "sending an unusually heavy letter in Israel used to cost 3 ILS and now costs 3.10, instead of 3.02 ILS."
During a check we conducted on a randomly selected post office, we were told that some of the postal products were made more expensive because of the VAT increase, while others remained the same. "It is true that sending an unusually heavy letter became more expensive than the rate of the VAT increase, but there are products that did not get more expensive," a post office teller told us. "For instance, the price of sending a letter has remained 2 ILS as did the basic out-of-country package delivery. The new rates can be found in the Postal Company website." A source in the Israel Postal Company told Ynet that no postal services experienced a price increase during the previous VAT increase, and that is why specific products and services are getting more expensive, given that they include both previous and current VAT increases.
Taxi drivers also told Ynet that a doubled VAT price update of 2% is possible, and that passengers will be surprised and may even be angered to discover this. This is because in the last VAT increase, in September 2012, the VAT did not affect taxi meters.
Credit Card Companies: Late Payment Fees Increase
And what about the credit card companies? One consumer complained that credit card companies raised the "late payment fee" from 49 agorot to 50 agorot for past transactions following the increase in the VAT. This despite the fact that the product that the payments are paying for was has already been purchased and taken to the home of the customer, and therefore the VAT increase should not be in effect for additional payments on it. However, the credit card companies claim that the late payment fee is a service that the companies provide every month, and therefore the VAT increase affects them.

These companies offer the consumer round prices (like " 99 ILS" of Golan Telecom), or are part of a particularly competitive market. These are, among others, the fashion chains, Hamashbir Lazarchan, Golan Telecom, IKEA and Betili. In most chains, sales discounts will not be affected by the VAT.
Concerning the Paz gas station in Mevaseret Zion, the Paz Group issued the following response: "The Paz station in Mevaseret Zion is privately owned by a concessionaire and not owned by Paz. The concessionaire acted in violation of the law and Paz will hold them to account with all the means and tools at its disposal. In anticipation of the increase in VAT, Paz has already informed all gas stations that work with us on Thursday in order to remind them that the VAT increase is going into effect on Saturday night at 24:00."
Concerning the price increases in Yellow stores, Paz issued the following response: "Matching prices to the new VAT will be conducted in all Paz stations and Yellow stores tonight only, and not before. Likewise, the chain has decided to absorb the VAT increase on several leading products such as cigarettes, drinks and certain snacks so as not to raise prices on consumers. Regardless of the VAT, last Thursday we updated prices on a number of products whose prices were significantly below market, and this does not include thousands of products sold in Yellow stores whose prices have not changed."
Michal Danin, the gas station owner, issued the following response: "I apologize, this was an accident. We observe the Sabbath. We opened for business on Saturday night and I changed the date by accident, with no intention of taking more money. Any person who bought gas on that day will get the difference back-- in cash."
The Israel Postal Company issued the following response: "According to Communications and Treasury Ministry regulations, personal postal service rates are rounded to the nearest 10 agorot, whether higher or lower as is customary.
The real product price that you presented in your letter was 3.026 ILS following the last VAT increase. Because of the price rounding (rounded down in this case), the price for the consumer was 3 ILS. Following the current VAT increase, the product price rose to 3.052 ILS and therefore crossed the 5 agorot "threshold" and was rounded up to 3.10 ILS.
In other cases, however, such as sending regular mail whose price is 2 ILS, the previous price remained unchanged given that the VAT calculation did not cross the 5 agorot "threshold" and was therefore left as it was."
