Source text - Bengali দৈনিক প্রথম আলোর ১৮ অক্টোবর, ২০১৫ এর ৩৩৮ সংখ্যায় প্রকাশিত ১৯৭১-২০১৫ ৪৪ বছরে দেশের ধান চাষের জমি ১৮ শতাংশ কমেছে জমি কমলেও চাল উৎপাদন বেড়েছে ৩গুন। বিবিসির তথ্য অনুযায়ী গত ৪৪ বছরে আলু চাষের জমি বেড়েছে ৫গুন আর ফলন বেড়েছে ১০.৯ গুন। এ সময়ে গমের উৎপাদন বেড়েছে ১২.২৫ গুন। ভূট্টার উৎপাদন বেড়েছে ৭৫৭ গুন আর এই সময়ে এই জমির পরিমান বেড়েছে প্রায় দ্বিগুন।
অন্যদিকে পাটের অবস্থা ভিন্ন। উৎপাদন ১৫ শতাংশ বাড়লেও জমির পরিমান কমেছে ২৫ শতাংশ।
জমির পরিমান না বাড়লেও ফসলের উৎপাদন এত বাড়ার উত্তরও বিবিস এর পরিসংখ্যানেই আছে।১৯৭০ সালে দেশের ফসলি জমিতে গড়ে একটি ফসল হতো। ২০১৫ সালের সর্বশেষ হিসাব অনুযায়ী বছরে জমিতে গড়ে প্রায় দুটি ফসল হয়।দেশের দক্ষিণ পশ্চিম অঞ্চলের ১০ লাখ একর জমিতে লবনাক্ততার জন্য এবং হাওড় অঞ্চলে বছরে গড়ে একটি ফসল হয়।
Translation - English The Daily “Prothom Alo” published in 18, October, 2015 published a report headed as” Though Land Decreases 18%, Rice production Increases 3 times in 44 Years (From 1971-2015)”. According to BBS land for potato production increases by 5 times, while production increases 10.9 times in 44 years. In this time production of wheat increases 12.5 times, in this time production of Maize increases remarkably by 757 times. In this time land increases for maize production is two times only.
On the other hand though the production of jute increased by 25%, the area coverage by jute decreased by 25%. In the statistics of BBS there are answers though the land coverage decreased how the production of Cereal crops increased. In the year 1970 Cropping density was averagely 1%.But in the year 2015 it is now 3%.

Source text - English To increase such a huge quantity of production the farmers had to work hard as well as they had to use huge quantity of agricultural inputs. Use of chemical fertilizers openly and freely is one of them. Maximum use of chemical fertilizer increases the acidity of soil. It also occurs the detrimental changes of the structure and texture of soil. I will be negatively affected on crop production. According to the agricultural scientist there should be 4% organic matter in the soil, but there is only 1% in Bangladesh context. In the northern part of the country it is only 0.5 or less then 0.5. AS a result water holding capacity of the soil decreases which increases the number of irrigation for crop production. On the other hand crop will not be able to uptake the fertilizer from the soil. As a result to have maximum production we have to use more fertilizer and more irrigation. Which results the increase of production cost? Including the jute in cropping pattern dropping of jute leaves help.
Translation - Bengali এত অধিক পরিমান ফলন উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধির জন্য কৃষককে যেমন কঠোর পরিশ্রম করতে হয়েছে; তেমনি বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে ফসল উৎপাদনের উপকরণের ব্যবহার। রাসায়নিক সারের যথেচ্ছ ব্যবহার এর অন্যতম। রাসায়নিক সারের মাত্রাতিরিক্ত ব্যবহার জমির অম্লতা যেমন বাড়িয়েছে তেমনি মাটির বুনন ও গঠনে মারাত্মক পরিবর্তন সাধন করেছে। যা ভবিষ্যতে ফসল উৎপাদনে নেতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলবে। মাটিতে জৈব পদার্থের পরিমান কৃষি বিজ্ঞানীদের মতে যেখানে ৪% থাকার কথা সেখানে আছে ১% এরও কম। দেশের উত্তরঅঞ্চলে এর পরিমান প্রায় ০.৫ বা এর চেয়েও কম। ফলে জমির পানি ধারণ ক্ষমতা কমে যাওয়ায় ফসল উতপাদনে সেচ লাগছে বেশি। অন্যদিকে ফসলও জমি থেকে যথাযথভাবে সার গ্রহন করতে পারছে না। ফলে কাংখিত ফস্ল উত’পাদনে অতিরিক্ত সার প্রয়োগ করা জরুরী হয়ে পড়ে।ফলে ফসল উৎপাদনে অতিরিক্ত খরচ পড়ে। ক্রপিং প্যাটার্ণে পাট অর্ন্তভুক্ত থাকলে জমিতে পাটের পাতা পড়ে তা পচে মাটিতে জৈব পদার্থের ঘাটতি পূরণ হতো।
