Source text - German Gebrüder Schubert. In der neulich erschienenen Ausgabe der “Deutschen Trauermesse” (Verlag Ed.
Strache, Wien) habe ich, um eine Zuschreibung an Franz Schubert zu bekräftigen, u. a. gesagt: “Dass diese
Kompositionen (die Ferdinand Schubert in seinem Verzeichnis von 1839 als für sich geschrieben
ausdrücklich erwähnt) von Ferdinand nur in seinem Wirkungskreise (Wiener Waisenhaus) aufgeführt
wurden, ohne als eigene Schöpfungen ausgegeben zu werden, ist anzunehmen, mit Ausnahme etwa (noch)
des Namenstagsliedes für Vierthaler”. In der Bibliothek des Städtischen Museums zu Salzburg habe ich
inzwischen einen Klavierauszug des gemischten Chores “Namensfeier” in der Handschrift Ferdinand
Schuberts gefunden. Meine Annahme, dass dieses Werk, das Schubert am 27. September 1815 (laut
autographer Partitur in der Preußlichen Staatsbibliothek) geschrieben hat, zum Namenstag Michael des
Direktors des Wiener Waisenhaus Franz Michael Vierthaler bestimmt war, das ist also für den 29.
September 1815, ist dadurch bestätigt worden; aber auch meine Vermutung, dass dieses Werk von
Ferdinand Schubert als eigene Schöpfung ausgegeben wurde, ebenso wie die “Deutsche Trauermesse”, die
1818 für den Vizedirektor jenes Waisenhauses, Johann Georg Fallstich, geschrieben worden ist.
Translation - Italian I fratelli Schubert. Nella recente edizione della "Deutsche Trauermesse” [Messa funebre tedesca] (pubblicata da Ed. Strache Verlag Ed. Strache, Vienna), ho confermato l’attribuzione
del brano a Franz Schubert sottolineando, tra le altre cose, che “è ragionevole presumere che le composizioni menzionate espressamente da Ferdinand Schubert nel suo elenco del 1839 come brani composti per se stesso siano state eseguite da quest’ultimo soltanto durante la propria attività presso l’orfanotrofio di Vienna, senza farle passare per sue creazioni, con l’eccezione forse (al tempo) del Lied per l’onomastico di Vierthaler”. Frattanto, ho rinvenuto presso la biblioteca del Museo civico di Salisburgo una riduzione per pianoforte del coro misto “Namensfeier” [Onomastico] nella calligrafia di Ferdinand Schubert. Questa scoperta ha confermato la mia ipotesi secondo la quale l’opera, composta da
Schubert in data 27 settembre 1815 (secondo la partitura autografa conservata presso la Biblioteca Statale Prussiana), era stata pensata per l’onomastico del direttore dell’orfanotrofio viennese Franz Michael
Vierthaler, che ricorreva il 29 settembre 1815. Al contempo ha rafforzato anche la mia teoria secondo cui
Ferdinand Schubert fece passare per propria quest’opera, come accaduto con la “Deutsche Trauermesse”,
composta nel 1818 per Johann Georg Fallstich, il vicedirettore dell’orfanotrofio.
